The Doctor chuckled a little at her words. Most people assumed that he had always been a genius and they were right, in a way. He had always been a genius in maths, in spellcrafting, in time-related magics and in teleportation magics. At the age of 5 he had learnt how to apparate after all. But in every other area? The Doctor has been just like everyone else. If not worse,

"No no I'm afraid not..." he told her with a smile, "Like all geniuses, I'm flawed. You see, my weaknesses lie in interacting with people. I always come across as too forward. Too loud. Too happy."

He could see the disbelieve written all over her face and, to be honest, it was an expression he himself had worn when he had finished constructing the TARDIS. It was his single greatest accomplishment... a triumph of runic engineering,

"Oh... let's say fifty years into the future." he told her with a grin, "And let's say... Tokyo. I do like that city... so bustling."

The Doctor, seeing her blush even from a simple handshake, desided that he was going to make her blush move up a scale. It was terrifically adorable after all. He smirked a little,

"You want to settle down with me in my world you say?" he winked at her, "I'm flattered."

Viktoria blushed slightly, she knew that the Doctor came across that way but she didn't think they were bad characteristics at all, in fact, they showed that the man was confident and that he felt able to do his job to the best of his abilities, and it made him seem friendly and approachable...

"I have to say I disagree, I like the way you interact with me, it's very friendly, so, with all due respect I think those people are wrong to critique you like that."

Smiling softly up at the Doctor, Viktoria's eyes widened slightly and she bit her lip, they were going fifty years into the future! And they were leaving Germany! For the first time Viktoria would be going abroad.

"I've never left Germany before, this is going to be such an experiance for me!"

There was a moment when she thought she saw a devious look on the Doctors face and Viktoria raised her eyebrow, but then felt her face turn even redder as he asked what he did. Damn he knew exactly how to make her blush.

"W-well no, not in that sense..."

The Doctor was very happy that Vikki liked the way he acted because Vikki was the kind of person he could see himself spending a lot of time with, especially as his assistant. Of course he realised this because he was already interally calling her Vikki instead of Viktoria,

"Well they criticised me for it anyway." he shrugged and smiled, "It doesn't really matter to me what everyone says as long as someone says they like me."

The way her eyes widened, with childish glee, The Doctor knew that this would possibly be the first time Vikki had been to Japan. But his grin widened as she spoke,

"Your first trip out of Germany?" he grinned happily, "Well I promise you now... it'll be one heck of a trip! You'll not forget it soon!"

He grinned when he saw her blushing even more than she usually did and the woman blushed a lot when she was around him. It was really rather flattering. Taking pity on her, he smirked,

"Ah I knew what you meant." he chuckled a little, "Just being a bit mean I suppose."

Viktoria noted that she thought the Doctor was an even more incredible man than she gave him credit for, he had all this knowledge, and all this power, yet all he seemed to want was somebody to like him and she could be that somebody. She could get to know him, get to be friends with him.

"That's all that matters, friends are forever, everything else just comes and goes."

Smiling slightly at the Doctors expression Viktoria let her smile grow and she grinned happily, finally, she was getting her dream, she was going to leave Germany for the first time.

"Oh thank you Doctor! Thank you! I'll be sure to pay you back with extra hard work this year! Honestly I am just so excited! When do we leave?"

Viktoria really was itching to go, if the Doctor had said tomorrow she would have come with him. It was one of the most wonderous things she was ever going to get to experiance and Viktoria couldn't wait to experiance it.

"Oh good! That was very mean of you Doctor, teasing me so."

The Doctor smiled at Vikki. What she had just said really resonated with him and he wanted to let her know just how much. He nodded slightly at her words,

"Yes... friends are forever." He sighed, happily this time, "I have seen the world tear itself apart before Vikki... and through it all I have seen friends who stood by each other."

Seeing the happy expression of Vikki's face, The Doctor grinned as the excitement was rather infectious. He chuckled happily,

"Well I know you'll work really hard this year anway. I knew you'd be a talented teacher, it's why I employed you." he poked her teasingly on the forehead, "Patience my lovely assistant! All in good time."

He shook his head teasingly and decided it was probably for the best that he tell her. Grinning, he wrote the date and time down on a napkin,

"In case we don't see each other again... here." he handed her the date, which was in five days time, "On that date we will go 49 years into the future."

Viktoria looked deep into the Doctors eyes, there seemed to be a sadness there mixed with the happiness, he had seen a world been torn apart? She hoped that it wasn't something that was going to happen in the future as selfish as that sounded...

She wouldn't put it past those English though.

"I like to have as many friends as possible, after all, what else should you treasure in life besides family? What's the phrase, Bro's before Hoe's?"

Giggling slightly Viktoria pouted playfully this was not something that she had expected! A whole five days! Why must she wait that long?! It was too hard for her! She wanted to go right this second and she felt a cold feeling of disappointment creep through her.

"Awwww, okay Doctor, 5 days it is, I'll try not to be so impatient in the future I'm just looking forward to this."

Taking the paper Viktoria slipped it into her uniform pocket: "Thank you, I'll keep this safe."

The Doctor was one of the very few people that when they said they'd seen their world torn apart they actually meant it. He was one of even fewer who had been the cause of it themselves. However, his family had been turning into monsters in their war against the Dazlek family. He had to end them before they became too twisted,

"Yes what else?" he agreed on the outside but wincing slightly at the mention of family. He laughed a little bit, "Always hated that phrase... never true to be fair. The woman you love comes before everything."

Seeing her excitement and how disappointed she seemed after he'd told her that they were living in five days, he smiled faintly before rolling his eyes with a grin,

"Alright then! You've convinced me!" he chuckled a little bit and held up the TARDIS, "Grab onto it and I'll take you on a little trip through time right now... interested?"

Viktoria raised her eyebrow when the Doctor said that he disagreed with what she had said, she thought it was a common peice of logic from boys, it was like their code for how to deal with Girlfriends taking up too much of their friends time.

"You do? Well you're unique in that I'm sure. Most boys that I've met tend to stick by that."

Smiling softly Viktoria went into her own memories and she thought about her brother, and about his friends, and how much she missed them.

When the Doctor said that they were going to go on a trip right now Viktoria felt her eyes widen and she gasped childishly, it was like it was Christmas and this was her present. Almost jumping out of her seat to go with the Doctor she carefully reached for the TARDIS.

"When are we going? Or is it a surprise?" she asked happily

The Doctor chuckled a little bit, shaking his head a little bit. He'd never really had to bother with either the 'bro code' or the 'girlfriend code'. He didn't really have either of them in the past after all,

"I suppose I am..." he grinned happily, "But we're all unique. This can be what makes me really unique."

The Doctor laughed happily at her excitement. He did enjoy it when Vikki was excited to be fair, it was a lot of fun. With them both holding onto the TARDIS, The Doctor willed it to begin to spin, faster and faster,

"We're going to go back in time my dear." he told her with a grin, "To the opening day of this pub 37 years ago!"

Their surroundings span quickly around them, blurring into a mixture of sounds and colours. When the spinning stopped they were in the same place they had been standing before, except the pub was obviously brand new. It was very busy, celebrating new year, as the two of them blended in. The Doctor, acting on tradition (and attraction), gave Vikki a peck on the cheek,

"Happy new year Vikki!"

Viktoria giggled happily as she watched the TARDIS spin faster and faster in it's mount and she knew that this meant that soon something wonderous was going to happen, and she would be right.

The Doctor said that they were going back in time.

Viktoria had never been out of the country let alone out of her chronological time frame that she was supposed to stay in, and she hoped that nothing bad would happen as a result of it. She was sure the Doctor wouldn't let anything bad happen.

"The opening day? How exciting! I really can't wait to see it!"

As she looked around the pub, now obviously in the past, everything looked so new and shiny it was amazing, Viktoria giggled again and turned to face the bar, blushing at the peck to her cheek Viktoria returned the kiss to the Doctor's cheek.

"Happy new year Doctor, this is really weird, I think it might take me a while to get used to this."

The Doctor grinned at her enthusiasm. Most of the people he'd ever given time-travelling trips to in the past always picked out something and it really irked him. One person had asked him why he could only go back 50 years and not to any "cool" stuff. Another had asked him if he had considered making the TARDIS into a small, box like, room. When asked how he would carry more people he was told "make it bigger on the inside". What a silly idea,

"Yep!" he told her with a grin, "Hard to believe but this place used to be clean once!"

The wonder she displayed at being so obviously in the past was new to him. It was fresh, it was amazing. His decision to keep her as his companion was forever solidified the first time he looked into her eyes and saw her honest wonder and joy. He grinned when she kissed him back,

"So what do you think?" he asked with a smirk, "Of course we can travell through space AND time so when we go forwards again I can drop you off home if you'd like."
