Suspension Bridge (Eilee Lornay and Unnamed)

The angel flew high over the land, shifting Eilee so that she was cradling her after her arms began to grow stiff, rambling the entire way about all of the beautiful things she'd seen in her three years of life. From the changing of seasons, to the blossoming of flowers and birth of kittens in an alleyway. She emphasized the stories about people, people fascinated her. She spoke about a father and son who took a road trip ans they way they laughed and talked, she spoke about a couple who had an argument in a cafe and girl who smuggled a puppy into her bedroom. Perhaps it was because she had been born of out death and sorrow but, she was enfatuated with life and glowed brightly whenever she spoke about it, and this girl gave her someone to talk to.

Eilee giggled and laughed as the angel flew along. So this is what flying would feel like, she mused as she closed her eyes and allowed the freedom of flying to escaled. The constant speech kept her aware that at any moment her life could end yet that didn't stop her. She felt the energy of happiness and joy. She kept her ability to manipulate light tampered down to assure herself that she wouldn't kill this woman's energy.

"Do you have a name?" She asked looking up at the angel. "My name's Eilee."

The ange's heart gave a thrill. "No," she said softly as she tipped her wings left to catch a hot air current which caused them to gently rise. "I don't." she smiled musing for a few moments. "Eilee is a lovely name... How did you get it?" she asked looking down at her new friend.

Eilee was surprised. An angel without a name? It made sense she supposed. The angel was only alive for three years and no one had probably bothered to visit the Graveyard at all. She thought a moment.

"My parents, I think, gave me it." She answered back honestly before tilting her eyes to look up at her. "Would you like a name?" She asked nervously.

The angel's wings seized excitedly mid flap causing them to dip sharpy. "I would love a name more than anything Eilee! I truly, truly would!" she exclaimed closing her eyes dreamily. "Just think," she said suddenly. "Next time I go home I can introduce myself to Anthony, won't he be surprised!" she gasped her face coloring with excitement. "I can introduce myself to you, it will be very nice to meet you indeed!" She rambled on in this manner for several minutes, still unsure of how she would be getting a name but mesmerized by the mere idea of one.

Eilee covered her mouth to stop the shriek from coming out at the large dip they took. Then she felt the reassurance of flight again and sighed. She thought carefully. Then smiled pleasantly at the unnamed angel.

"Merabiles Lornay," she stated smiling. "You can share my last name too, I guess." She gently touched one of the angel's rusty blonde tussles of hair feeling it's softness.

"Merabiles?" the angel asked her brow furrowed while Eilee played with curl, she still didn't quite understand. Eilee slipped from her arms when hands flew to her mouth, tears in her eyes. Quickly realizing her mistake she let out a short cry before swooping and catching her fast. "I'm sorry!" she said tearfully. "I have a name!" she sobbed, a broad smile on her face. "Thank you, I love you, let me introduce myself!" she said hurriedly hoping her forgetfulness hadn't cost her, her friend. "My name is Merabiles Lornay!" she said eyes bright but watery.

Eilee felt Merabiles release her and she did let out a shriek. She closed her eyes and prepared the feel of a fall when two arms caught her again she sighed in relief before smiling back up at Mera. She shook her head.

"It's ok," she reassured. Death didn't scare her.

"Hmm and I am Eilee Lornay; pleased to make your acquaintance!" She grinned broadly.

"Look, there!" Merabiles cried. "The bridge!" she pointed frantically with one had at a large stretch of metal and concrete hanging over a huge body of water. "There's nothing more beautiful!" she beamed wildly.

Eilee looked over and had to admit it was quite magnificent. Ignoring the sight she looked back up at Merabiles. She didn't have a name, and all angels had names (as she supposed), she lived in a graveyard, and until now had no name. Odd, she thought.

"So, Merabiles, what are you?" She asked tilting her head.

Merabiles' brow furrowed sharply at the question. Perhaps it was because she'd never really spoken to anyone before, or at least anyone who truly spoke back, but the question stumped her. As she thought she banked right, heading for a favorite roost. "I'm me..." she said with no real certainty in her voice. "What is it you mean, 'What are you?'" she asked looking down at Eilee suddenly afraid that shes wasn't was what she had thought she was, life was still terribly new after all and it just might happen to be so.

Eilee realized her question was too blunt and decided to rephrase it as well.

"Are you an angel? I know life is new to you but do you know what angels are?" She asked again. "Maybe I could bring you books next time if you don't. Wait, do you know how to read?" She asked.

Pulling her body upwards while extending her legs Merabiles landed softly on one of the struts of the bridge. Her face was lined heavily as she thought. "I, I don't know what you mean." she said. "I, I have never talked to anyone before, and am not sure of the terms you use. I speak because I heard mother speak... That is my first memory, sadness and mother speaking to Anthony, he was dead... already." she said sorrowfully.

Closing her eyes as if there was much effort put into recalling such things she went on. "Mother talked for years and cried then too, after a time I cried, for a very long age. Then," she said holding out a hand as if trying to catch a dream. "Mother stopped coming, and I cried alone and one day, finally I breathed and knew I was me..." She looked at her friend greatly concerned and unsure of herself, the question now consuming her 'What are you?'

Eilee was quick to respond as she started to console her new friend. She shook her head and gently stroked Mera's face calmly.

"It's alright; I can help you. I'm sure ok? Just stay calm while we figure this out. Maybe tomorrow we can meet somewhere and I can bring things to help you out alright?" Her head was still up to the brim in questions but she refused to freak her friend out anymore.

Merabiles smiled, having been born of sorrow and tears, this much she knew of herself, she tried to remain happy at all times. She cleared her throat. "That would be wonderful!" she said running her fingers through the feathers of one wing. "Look!" she gasped throwing her wings out and falling clumsily to her belly as she leaned over to watch the people that might have been ants below. "Aren't they all beautiful?" she smiling asked Eilee.
