First Year: Lesson Three Empty First Year: Lesson Three

Post by Angel Valentine Tue Mar 13, 2012 12:00 pm

Opening the door to the dungeon she sighed a bit seeing how dreary it was. Sometimes returning to the place was somewhat of a let down. During the vacation, she managed to get a well amount of sleep.

Now in the dirty dungeon, she sighed and tried to find herself in a better mood. Waving her hand, she wrote clearly and smiled.

Pepperup Potion

Now she sat down and tapped her quill absentmindedly waiting for the class to begin.

Tessa walked in the room, thanks to Yas. She then went and found her a seat, waiting for class to begin.

Jaycie wandered into the room, books already in her arms. She sighed and sat down. The potion on the board was the one she'd randomly read up about last night when she was bored. Jaycie laughed, settling her stuff on her desk. It was a pretty useful potion.

Ebony walked around and took a seat in the back, not really wanting to get involved but she liked learning potions so she didn't mind being in this lesson. she pulled out her books and put her bag down, looking around the room and over at the board, seeing it was a potion her dad had made many times but she wasn't exactly sure how.

Kasey shivered a bit as he came down to the dungeons, it was always so cold down here, and he really didn't like it. He frowned, walking into the classroom, trying not to shiver. He walked into the room, taking a seat near some slytherin girl, his leg bouncing slightly to keep himself from shivering.

As he went to pull out his book to read before class he was the words written on the board. So they'd be making a pepperup potion? He asked to himself as he looked down to continue reading.

Xander walked into class with the confidence of someone that was completely at ease in these dark halls, the odors of different potions filling his senses. He liked having a weekend, but liked coming back to this class almost more. Almost.

He noticed the icy wall between the Gryffindors and chose to steer clear of them. Not that he was known to be particularly chummy with them to begin with, but he didn't want to hear those to complain about each other.

He nodded to Kasey as he passed. Xander had decided he rather liked the quiet Ravenclaw. He took a seat next to Jaycie, figuring he may as well get to know someone better.

"Well hello, again. How was your weekend?" He said in a very quiet tone. He didn't want to bother the teacher, but class hadn't seemed to start yet.

Walking to the potions classroom was no big deal for Damien, it was right down from the common room. Walking into the classroom he noticed Anne sitting up down the aisle so he head down that direction towards her.

Out of all the classes that he was taking Potions was very important to him and he wanted to earn a apprenticeship one day. He knew that he could do it under Potion Master Prewett if he was still going to marry Tabi.

Making it to the table where Anne was sitting he pulled up the stool and sat down next to Anne. Taking out his parchment he began his notes on the potion.

"Hay Anne hows it going?"

As Alcyone entered, she was dismayed to see Damien. It made her feel shy every time. She knew that she should talk to him, but she didn't want too. She spotted only one other person she'd like to sit with - a Hufflepuff, and she moved over and placed her hand on the chair beside her.

"Do you- do you mind if I sit here?" She asked softly.

Walking into class, he looked to see Xander starting up a chat with the Hufflepuff girl. He had seen her once he believed, in the party held at Xander's mansion. Rolling his eyes figuring he was flirting, he decided to sit in the back.

He figured that that new girl wouldn't mind, after all he wouldn't bother her one bit. He wasn't a talkative fellow so it wouldn't matter.

She could tell that nobody was sitting near her. Tessa had never felt more alone in her life, she just wanted to get the class over. Maybe the professor would come in and class would get it off her mind. So she would stop thinking about it. It might make her a little better.

Seeing that most students were there, she ignored the awkwardness of the students, not relevant in her classroom and began her class.

"Welcome students to lesson three of the class. Today as written on the board, we will be dealing with the Pepper up potion. Please open your books to page 220 and begin reading about the potion"

Pepperup Potion (or Pepper Up Potion) is a potion which cures the common cold. It has the side-effect of causing steam to come out of the drinker's ears for several hours after it is imbibed.

Tessa opened her book to the page number and started to read it. Maybe this potion could make her feel better. But she knew that only time would heal all wounds.

Xander read the passage and couldn't help but smile. He had gotten a cold right before school had started and his mother had made this for him. Luke hadn't let any opportunity pass to make fun of him for the steam rolling out of his ears. Xander had finally had to sneak him some in his pumpkin juice, causing him to have the same effects, before Luke would shut up.

Speaking of...where is he. Looking around he noticed him back with another Slytherin that he really didn't know. Not that he couldn't have a class without him, but Xander was surprised to see him take it upon himself to sit somewhere else. Good for him. He smiled at his cousin and faced forward, waiting for the lesson to really start.

Vero entered the room and waved at the teacher before settling down by Anne, probably the only girl she knew in the whole room.

"Hey Anne." She smiled before opening her book and beginning the read.

Tessa then decided to re read what she had just read. Just to make sure that she understood what it was. That way if she was asked a question about it, she wouldn't get it wrong. All she wanted to do was to get out of this class and back up to her room.

(OOC: Please students, You are breaking the rules when you post in only one line posts. Stop this please, it's against the rules not to mention unhelpful for other posters and lazy. Expand on your posts please.)

Seeing that everyone has read, she took out a little vial.

"Now seeing that everyone has read, I suppose we can start the lesson. The Pepper up Potion, as you have read is very useful for Healers and the variety within the Potion Mistresses job."

She pointing towards the board the image of an old man appeared.

"This is Glover Hipworth (1742—1805) was a wizard who specialised in Potion development. He became famous for the invention of the Pepperup Potion."

On the next board, she wrote the ingredients, and showed the two main ingredients. First was a blue horn, and next, she took out the image of a Mandrake.

"I hope that you have dealt with a mandrake plant. I have already been given the liquid from the Mandrake root from Professor Del Sol. But this horn is the Bicorn Horn. These horns are shed annually and are gathered when the Bicorn is not looking, so they are rare in certain times of the season. The rest I know that you have dealt with because of Professor Del Sol so there is no need to show you."

Add ten cups of water into the cauldron.
Wait until it reaches 247 degrees Farenheit
Once the water has boiled, add six droplets of vanilla for flavor.
Once it mixes well and begins to turn like yellow,
Then add two powdered Bicorn horns (about 4 grams)
You must make sure that the powder is mixed well, and no grains are left unmixed.
Then add three dried shrivelfigs
They will add a shade of purple into the drink. Be mindful that since they are dried, they will expand, make sure to try and break it apart so it will mix deeper.
Once the bubbles are purple as well, add ten petals of wolfsbane (cut each petal into fourths)
REMEMBER TO USE GLOVES FOR THAT. It can be poisonous.
Once it begins to smell like grass and vanilla, please add the last ingredient.
8 oz. of Mandrake liquid.
Cover and lower temperature to 97 degrees for ten minutes and potion is done.

"Please find a partner and begin!"

Getting up, he walked towards Xander and cleared his throat.

"Want to still be my partner?" he asked.

He didn't mind sitting somewhere else, but when it came to partner he didn't want anyone incompetent. He didn't know anyone in the class, and he didn't want to take chances, he trusted Xander not to act like such an idiot and actually work with him.

"I'll get the ingredients okay?"

And with that, he was off getting the ingredients from the pantry.

She took the notes carefully numbering them on a sheet of paper before deciding to be adventurous took a seat beside one of the other girls in the class who sat beside the girl who sat beside the boy who had said hi to Anne. She was in Slytherin but she hoped the girl was nice.

"Hello, do you mind if I work with you?" Vero asked her eyes looking up brightly.
