Second Years: Lesson Three Empty Second Years: Lesson Three

Post by Angel Valentine Tue Mar 13, 2012 12:11 pm

Letting out a soft sigh, she sat down on her desk and looked out of the window. The lake was giving off a soft glow of deep green into the dungeon.

She sighed and looked back towards the dark room. Walking towards her desk, she sat down and relaxed. The previous lesson, they had had some fun, but perhaps a more serious potion was needed for this lesson.

Walking into the dungeon, she sighed softly seeing that she was the only one that was there. She smiled softly at the fact that last week they had done something that was actually fun. She walked towards her desk and sat down quietly.

She opened her book and smiled at the professor somewhat nervously unsure to her mood.

Parker made the short trip from the common room to the potion's class room. He took a deep breath as he walked there, making sure he tried to stay focused. He walked into the room and was Tess was the only other one there. He took his seat near her, giving a friendly smile as he sat.

He pulled out his textbook as well as the notes he'd been taking. He hoped for a potion like last time, with all the steps and such that they had to do. Getting it done correctly felt all the more rewarding. Though he hadn't tried the potion. He wondered what they'd be doing as he rested his chin on his palm with his elbow on the table, doodling on the corner of the parchment.

Victoria smiled as she entered potions. She hated the class last year, feeling stuffed up in the dank dungeons. But this year was proving to be more fun now that she had a close friend that she could partner with when they got the chance. And she was finding that the precision of potions wasn't so hard when you took the time and were very thorough.

She smiled at Tess and Parker. "Hey guys! Have a good weekend?" She took the seat on the other side of Tess and got her book out.

Tess gave Parker a small grin in return glad that it wasn't awkward since the incident. She let out an even wider smile seeing her best friend there. Hearing Victoria's question, she looked back at Professor Valentine hoping that she wouldn't get mad and answered:

"Great weekend, finally got to sleep in" she said softly.

Post by Airen Auditoren Tue Mar 13, 2012 2:36 pm

Airen entered the classroom. He looked around and saw two other Slytherins and a fellow Gryffindor. He inwardly smiled at the obvious lack of hate between the houses. It made him glad that Hogwarts, as a whole, was well-knit and close. Like a family.

He made his way to a seat at the front of the classroom. He took out note-taking material. He looked up at the professor.

"Pomeriggio (Afternoon), Professor," he greeted.

Zara peeked into the classroom, checking to see if class had started yet. Noticing it hadn't, she proudly walked into class, sitting down next to Haley. "Hello, Hayley" she greeted with a friendly smile. Looking past Haley, she saw Parker. "Hey, Parker!" she called, waving at him.

Charlotte happily walked along the corridor to the Potions classroom, she was glad to be in that class again because she found it so enjoyable and she got to work with Airen which was even better! Opening the door she saw that there were already lots of students in there and she gave them all a wave, smiling gently as she made her way to her customary seat.

Sitting down she got out all of her notetaking things and wondered what they would be learning this lesson.

Haley smiled as Zara sat down next to her. "Hey Zara," she said softly, looking up from her book.

She then saw Charlotte and waved back as she waved to them.

Then she returned to silence.

Parker looked up as Haley walked over, smiling back at her. "Hey there." Looking over at her, she then saw Zara peek over, waving and greeting him. He smiled at her too, giving a small wave back. "Hi Zara."

As some others entered the room, he glanced back at the door each time, waiting for class to begin.

Tabi made her way into potions class she knew that Ivano would not be there he had been called away for something but he said that he would be back. Of course he told her this in the of the fight that they had.

Tabi walked into the classroom and noticed that Leshia was not there yet so she decided that she would sit in the back and wait for her to come, so she would at least have someone to do potions with.

Seeing that enough students had entered, she cleared her throat to get attention.

"Welcome class. Today we will be learning the Antidote to Uncommon Poisons. Please turn to page 524 and please read what the potion does. Once you finish, please look towards me, so I can give you an assignment before we begin the lesson."

The Antidote to Uncommon Poisons is a potion that cures Doxy venom and other uncommon poisons. Its ingredients are Fire Seeds, Powdered Graphorn Horn, Billywig stings and Chizpurfle carapaces.

Haley immediately opened her book and started reading the few lines about the Antidote. She then looked up at the teacher when she was done, and waited for her to do something.

Victoria took the time to read and reread the passage. She took out her notebook, jotting down the potion and page number for later review.

This potion seemed to have more interesting ingredients than she had encountered before. Especially after the familiar ones like banana and plum juice from the Ageing Potion.

Leshia could not believe she was late for potions, she was never late for any of her classes so she basically took off running to the class. Making into class she noticed Tabi sitting there in the back of the class without a partner.

Leshia looking at at the professor and headed to over where her sister was sitting. Sitting down with her she smiled at her.

"You don't mind if I set with you do you? She said to Tabi, then in her mind she thought. "I have really missed you."

Charlotte turned to her textbook and opened it at the page that she needed, thinking that this would be a good move to try and cure poisons, Charlotte made sure to read over it intently and to take all of the information in.

Once she had finished she looked up to the Professor and wondered what their assignment was going to be today.

Seeing that a student had entered late, she frowned.

"Miss Prewett, I am forced to deduct five points from Ravenclaw for your lateness. I do not appreciate tardiness in my class and I hope not only do you learn this, but everyone else in my class."

Clearing her throat she continued one with her lesson.

"You are reading this article because for your assignment, you will be collecting these ingredients. You can find them around the castle, Professor Del Sol and I have made sure of it. This lesson will shift to our assignment today. Today we will be doing the Antidote to Common Poisons."

Waving her hand, the words began to appear on the board:

- Add 1 Bezoar to the mortar
-Crush into a very fine powder using the pestle
-Add 4 measures of the crushed Bezoar to your cauldron
-Add 2 measures of Standard Ingredient to your cauldron
-Heat to a medium temperature for 5 seconds
-Wave your wand
-Leave to brew and return in 85 minutes
-Add 1 pinch of Unicorn Horns to your cauldron
-Stir 2 times, clockwise
-Add 2 Mistletoe Berries to your cauldron
-Stir 2 times, anti-clockwise
-Wave the wand to complete the potion

"Please pair up and begin the lesson"

Haley looked around and then figured that it wouldn't add up. "Hey, you two don't mind working three together, do you?" she asked Parker and Zara, not wanting to be excluded or to exclude.

She then rose and got the ingredients needed before getting to work.

Tess knew that it was going to be Victoria and herself. She leaned over to Victoria and said.

"I'll get the ingredients okay?"

She got up and went to pick up the ingredients being careful not to mix up the ingredients. She decided to pick up the tray and put everything in order so she would not get too confused. Looking at the simpleness of it all, she walked back with the ingredients towards their table and took out their cauldron.

"Half and half?" she asked her.

Charlotte looked at Airen with a large smile on her lips and she didn't even have to ask any more, after all they always paired up for potions and she got up off her seat and went to collect the ingredients from the front of the classroom.

Making sure to note down the instructions for the potions in case she needed them in the future, Charlotte smiled and then collected the ingredients.

'- Add 1 Bezoar to the mortar
-Crush into a very fine powder using the pestle
-Add 4 measures of the crushed Bezoar to your cauldron
-Add 2 measures of Standard Ingredient to your cauldron
-Heat to a medium temperature for 5 seconds

-Add 1 pinch of Unicorn Horns to your cauldron
-Stir 2 times, clockwise
-Add 2 Mistletoe Berries to your cauldron
-Stir 2 times, anti-clockwise
-Wave the wand to complete the potion'

Coming back to the desk, Charlotte smiled at Airen; "Do you want to go first or me?"

When Tess hopped up to get the ingredients it was her turn to ready the cauldron. She then jotted down the steps for later study.

"Sure," she said, when Tess returned with the ingredients.

She went ahead and crushed the Bezoar, adding the correct amount to the cauldron. Then the Standard Ingredient went next. When that was in she turned the cauldron to medium for the 5 seconds and waved her wand.

They had 85 minutes until the second half. "The rest is all you." She said to Tess, smiling. It was nice to have a balance of participation and observing with pairs. Victoria still wasn't sure which way worked better for her own learning style, so she liked the variety.
