Lesson 3 - First Years Empty Lesson 3 - First Years

Post by Jacqueline Girard Fri Mar 16, 2012 7:07 am

Jaqui made it down to the Care of Magical Creatures area, where there were two pens set up. In one, there was a group of Crup's - a dog that closely resembled a Jack Russel terrier, save for its forked tail. The crup was fiercely loyal to wizards, and didn't care much for muggles.

In the other pen, were sand crabs. The sand crabs were beautiful, with their bejeweled shell, their tortoise like appearance and gentle nature. However, when they were frightened, fire would shoot out of their rear end. Much like last year, she had set up a basket within each pen that was full of various foods that they would feed the animals, and various things they could use to see what the animal liked and didn't like.

Once everyone had arrived, she smiled and instructed them on what to do.

"Right, now zat we are all 'ere what I want you to do is inspect zese animals. Group 1, will be with ze crups, and group 2 with ze sand crabs. You 'ave been given a basket of foods, and other items and you must find out what ze animals likes and doesn't like. Group 1 ees, Jaycie, Tessa, Annabel, Xander and Anne. Ze rest of you are group 2."

Lesson 3 - First Years Empty Re: Lesson 3 - First Years

Alcyone fiddled with the strap of her bag as she realised her group would be with the sand crab. Her eyes wandered over to the creatures themselves and she felt a soft smile on her face. Capella would've been fascinated by the beauty of them, and so Alcyone moved to the pen, stepped inside and sat down. She pulled out a large piece of lettuce and tossed it over to the sand crab, quickly scribbling down; 'What The Sand Crab Eats' and writing 'Lettuce' beneath this on her pad.

Her hand dug in to retrieve a carrot, and she also threw this over, but the sand crab quickly rejected it. She scribbled this down under her 'Doesn't Eat' column.

Anne walked to care of magical creatures and got into her group, she started tempting the crups. And wrote down what they liked and what they didn't.

Eva walked to care of magical creatures and joined her group. She nodded politely to her room mates. Then set to work. She rather enjoyed this class. She smiled at the Slytherin girl and said while working "I'm Eva, and you are?"

Lesson 3 - First Years Empty Re: Lesson 3 - First Years

Jaqui began scribbling down their task on two sheets of paper. On the sheet that was labelled 'Group 1', it read:

Lethifolds
You are two write a 50 word summary on the Lethifold, due next lesson.

After she'd wrote that, she wrote the same on the sheet for group 2, save for the word 'Chimaera' instead of 'Lethifold'. Getting the students to read up on these dangerous creatures would help them to learn more about the dangers of magical creatures.

She walked into group 1's pen and handed out the sheet to everyone, doing the same with group 2.

Lesson 3 - First Years Empty Re: Lesson 3 - First Years

Xander took his instruction and walked over to the crup pen. Turning to the section on them in his book, he noted that their forked tails are usually removed at a very young age. He didn't know how old these ones were, but he was intrigued to see they still had their tails in tack. Maybe it's for educational purposes?

He shrugged and went over to the bin with different things to feed them. He saw lots of fruits and veggies, meats and grains. Seeing a bar of chocolate he grabbed it and walked slowly into the pen. He sat down near the gate, letting them come to him.

As a curious one with a patch of clay red fur over his left eye approached, Xander unwrapped the bar and broke off a piece, holding it out. The dog-looking animal inched closer and started sniffing in the direction of the chocolate. After a few minutes he came close enough to take an experimental lick. Then another. He soon grabbed a hold of the rest with his teeth and practically woofed it down. Xander laughed and started taking notes.
