Lesson Four (1st and 2nd Years)

Jonathan had noticed that not many people wanted to take the astronomy class so he decided that for the last lesson of the year he would just take both years and add them together.

Jon placed an assignment on the board for them to work on.

1. Name a Zodiac

2. Name a Planet

3. Name a Phase of the Moon

4. What would you like to learn next year.

Jonathan figured this would give them something to work on while he waited for the whole class to get there.

Alex walked to the Astronomy classroom where she saw she was the first one there smiling she nodded to the Professor and she pulled out a quill and started to write down what was written on the board.

Name a Zodiac: Capicorn

Name a planet: Neptune

Name a phase of the moon: Waning Crescent

What would you like to learn next year: How to read stars
Alex finished writing and waited for the class to start.

Annika quickly took her seat and looked up at the professor. He had put some questions on the board so she thought she'd best try to answer before class started. That way if her ideas were not quite right, she could compare them with what the professor taught. the stars were always her favorite thing to watch and she really was anxious to learn about them.
Looking at the questions she smiled and sighed. these were things she could answer without thinking. Thank heavens
(no pun intended) cuz the rest of her class load had been crazy today.

1. Name a Zodiac: the sign I was born under is Pisces so I guess that the one I know best

2. Name a Planet: in this solar system it's Venus, but of all the planets I want to learn the most about Galifry. not many people even know about it.

3. Name a Phase of the Moon: I know it sound's like a cop out but I love the full moon. magic just seems to flow from it and spells, potions and incantations seem to work so much stronger during a full moon.

4. What would you like to learn next year.: I want to learn about constellations, and the reason the moon affects muggles one way and magical folks another. Why do magical things work better, faster and stronger during a full moon than at anyother time ?
That done Annika pulled out the letter from papa and re-read it smiling when she thought of who much a son would mean to papa.

Keaira sat down with her paper and started writing at it in a monotone.

New moon.

Tamara walked into class and started on the paper she had at once. It was a rather easy task, and she wondered if this was how the lessons were going to work for the entire next year as well.

Aquarius

Venus

Last quarter

4. What would you like to learn next year.
Many different things about the stars, their origin, what they might be, and what they might tell us.

Seeing that there were a few students in the class he decided that he would go ahead and start the lesson.

"So who would like to begin discussing what they have written. What have you learned so far this far in your studies."

Alex raised her hand " I've learned a lot about Zodiacs and how they've come to be called Zodiacs or also known as the tweleve signs and how they each have a story and what they might tell us in the future" Alex said feeling like a total nerd.

Everyone had called her a nerd when it came to studies she sunk a little in her chair and waited to see what happened.

Jonathan listened to what Ms. Hawthorn had said and she was correct.

"10 points Ms. Hawthorn. Now can you tell me which one of them is your favorite?"

Jonathan had hope he would get more answers from other students soon.

Alex smiled " Capicorn, is the one I know most about and is very interesting" Alex said smiling slightly she didn't know she knew this much about Astronomy she smiled inwardly.

Keaira dully put her hand into the air. "I've learned the story behind Orion and other star constellations and mythology and their connection," she said monotonously.

Jonathan listened to Ms. Drake answer. "10 points Ms. Drake"

Jonathan was glad that at least a couple of people showed up to his class he guesses that was better than not having anyone.

"Class Dismissed and have a nice summer."

Jonathan really did not know what he was going to do for the summer holiday, he would just have to sit and wait to see.

"Professor, before I go can I ask a question? We didn't get to what I want to understand, cuz.. well, i ah..." Annika stammered as she walked up to her instructor. "That is i need to know why the phase of the moon affects my magic. I,,ah seem to have trouble with ... ah focusing when there's no moon, and things seem to be harder to keep from.. well, getting out of control when it's full. I mean, ,," Annika ducked her head suddenly ashamed of speaking out in front of the others. She had never meant for anyone to find out about her 'problem', but she really needed help. Especially after what he happened in charms with the wingardium leviosa spell that melted her fairy cake. It had been a problem since she powers had started to develop and she really wanted to talk to someone about it. "Please, sir, I could really use an answer."
Blushing furiously Annika sat back down and turned her eyes again to the professor.
