Character Background:

Ash is a Captain's eldest son. He and his father both enjoy the open waters and Ash's family was really quite proud when he received his letter. He's spent his life on the water and his father is often away on boating trips, trading jobs etc. He's gone for about six months each year, total, and it's always a good time when he's back because Ash's father brings all sorts of odds and ends back with him. Ash reads a lot and his father was the one who started him in it by bringing home the book Moby Dick one day. Ash is a huge fan of the water and has one little sister, who is eight this year.
