Lesson 2 First Years

Sofia was glad for the start of the new year and she had hoped that it would be a little more interesting than last year. She was also hoping she might have more students this year.

Sofia had worked all summer working on new lessons plans hoping to have herself a little less stress. Some of the students might get a refresher course on something but that will be ok.

She went around and on all the desks by the chairs she placed a Syllabus on them.

Week 1- What is Astronomy
Week 2- History of Astronomy
Week 3- Early Astronomy
Week 4- Chinese Astronomy

Sofia went and sat back in her chair in the middle of the room and waited for students to arrive.

Carly entered the classroom, out of all her lessons this year this one was the one she most excited about. She had missed the last class as she had been late to sign up, but she hoped that she had not missed much.

Carly looked around the tower and quickly chose a seat near the front. She looked down and saw the syllabus that the teacher had placed on her desk. Carly started to read and found that she couldn't wait to learn all of this stuff, especially as she had never known anything about chinese astronomy before. Carly decided she couldnt wait for the class to begin.

Sofia glanced up and noticed the first student has arrive and she had to smile.

"Welcome to class, Ms. Grass we shall wait and see if more student arrive." Sofia smiled

"Why don't you tell me what you think of Astronomy while we wait."

Carly liked this teacher, she seemed very friendly, returning her smile Carly began to talk;

"Well I dont really know much about astronomy as I've never studied it before, I have always been fascinated by the stars though, and seeing how their positions change in the sky. I know that most of the constallations are named after figures in greek myths, and the planets are named after roman gods, like Jupiter, but I can't wait to learn more" Carly said in a rush, with a smile on her face.

Sofia smiled at Ms. Grass as she talked about astronomy,

"There is many things to learn about the stars and planets, their movements and everything. It is very interesting." Sofia could not help but smile.

"Anything special you would like to learn about?"

Carly thought for a moment, honestly she would be happy to learn anything, although she had always loved seeing how the stars changed.

"I'd probably like to study the movements and changes of the stars most, and their positions in the sky" She said with a shy smile.

Sofia had to smile she seemed like a very bright student, and Sofia loved it when they were bright.

"Yes, with movement it is very easy. The stars in the sky never actually move, unless its a falling star. The stars appear in different places at different times because of the earth's rotation."

Carly smiled again at this, "well the stars have always fascinated me, especially the posistions of he and the names of all the constellations" she said.
