Background Information: Adonna had a loving upbringing within her wizarding family. She grew up rather carefree and was known as a mischief maker during her Hogwarts years. Unfortunately, her parents died at an early age. She married Daniel Tonks, younger brother of Ted Tonks, and they had a son together, whose name was Jareth. She also became an Unspeakable for the Department of Mysteries. Within five years of her parents' deaths, Adonna's husband and young child were killed by Death Eaters directly in front of her during the first wizarding war with Lord Voldemort. Adonna attributes their deaths to her old job with the Ministry.
Life and circumstance changed her personality drastically. She went from being a happy prankster to being rather militant, and as a direct result of her family being killed, she changed jobs from that of Unspeakable to that of Healer. She has somewhat mellowed since her family's deaths.
It is unknown to all but Dumbledore as to how or why, but Adonna carries the symbol of a Dark Mark on her left forearm. That, combined with her Metamorphmagus skills, is what lends her to being a double agent so well.
