Professor Nocte stood in front of her pensive with bottles of memories around it, full of things she wouldn't want her students to see if she ever to be caught unguarded this lesson. They were going to practice Occulmency. She took another bottle and a strand of silver was placed inside. She was glad she already done most of them before.

She continue to pour her memories as she waited for her class.

Entering the classroom she realized it was eerily quiet. Professor Nocte seemed to be distracted, as her back was to the class. Tess decided that she'd simply slide in and not make any noise.

She sat down on the closest seat and waited to be told what to do. She did not want to stray Professor Nocte from her thoughts.

Haley walked into the classroom with a slight frown as it was pretty silent. She shrugged it off and walked over to Tess, meaning to say hello when she realized she didn't want to break this silence. It felt as if something weird would happen if she did. So she just gave a small wave and a smile, sitting down next to her, ready for the lesson.

Professor Nocte stopped when she realized that two students came in. She turned around and smiled.

"Hello, ladies," she greeted. "Today we are going to practice Occlumency. Since there's only two of you, I trust you will be partners, right? I hope you already learned how to use it seeing that you're third years. If you have any memories that you would not like to be know, you can bottle them up for the class. You can start."

Tess grinned seeing that she wasn't the only one in class. And working with Haley as her partner? Awesome. She nodded at the mention of vials and walked over nervously.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to hide a bit of myself?" she asked Haley softly.

She walked over and knowing the process of how it worked, placed her wand on her forehead, closed her eyes and thought of the memory. Slowly she pulled away and the thin wispy memory entered the vial she held. She put it in her satchel nervously not wanting anyone to know.

Haley smiled at Tess. "I don't mind at all. I've got some things I have to hide myself," she said softly.

She then walked over to the pot and did as she had seen her parents do many times before. She dragged out the memory of learning about their death, and every memory she had had with the woman that killed them. When there were only happy memories left, she turned and smiled.

"Ready," she said happily.

Tess grinned back and she took a few steps back from Haley.

"Mind if I give it a go?" she asked.

She never had tried to go into a person's mind but she had seen the previous professor Professor Gaspard, enter her mind with that maddening spell.

Haley's smile widened. "Go ahead," she said happily.

She felt super happy, because all she had left were this rumble of happy memories, which at the same time were extremely sad, because many of them included her parents. It also included the time she had visited Charlotte, the relief when Tess walked up to the Prison Tower, studying with Parker and Leisha, the funny times in Astronomy and Divination, and how beyond determined she was to get an O in Dueling, Infiltration and DaDA. A random memory, yes, but she had to give Tess something, right?

She supposed she'd fight a bit when Tess cast the spell, but figured to let the spell enter too so Tess would see how that worked. Haley herself was pretty curious about that, and hoped that Tess would let her in as well.

Occlumency : 3rd Years : 2nd Lesson Empty Re: Occlumency : 3rd Years : 2nd Lesson

Post by Tess McCartney Fri May 04, 2012 5:47 am

Tess looked as Haley prepared herself and she grinned.

"But don't go easy on me...well not too easy" she said.

And with that

"Legilimens!" she called out

Immediately she found herself in total darkness. She no longer liked this, she scrunched up her brow and closed her eyes and began to push forward. She knew that Haley was a master of this, or at least had an upper hand over hers, after all she had seen how she'd fought against the barrier. She soon saw a wall, it was strong and sturdy, she realized. Soon the wall began to weaken.

' She's making it easier to enter she thought.

Pushing through, she was immediately taken to a memory.

Well it's not everyday that I get to break into a cell" she said amused.

Taking out her wand and she thought of the spell to get her out. The sad thing was that the cells automatically locked themselves when someone entered to prevent trespassers from entering into the deeper parts of the castle.

"Bombarda" She called out aiming specifically towards the lock trying to get it to explode.

Metal screeched and a small burning smell appeared, coming along with an explosion. She closed her eyes and winced as the wind brought up the dirt of the old cell. But successfully the door was opened.

"Ta da!" she said putting her wand away. "What were you doing here anyways?"
Haley grinned at Tess. No, one didn't get to break open a cell every day. Pity she managed to leave her wand in the dormitory that day. She really didn't like walking without it, but she just didn't bring it, being oh-so-sure that she wouldn't be needing it. But she placed her arms around her face as Tess performed the spell they had just learned.

She rose and walked over to the girl. "Thanks a bunch. I'm also slightly grateful to professor Henley right now," she said with a sigh.

Haley looked into the cell to think of an excuse to being there. She really didn't want to lay out about her feelings to Tess. Not that she didn't trust her, that wasn't it. But it wasn't happy things, and Haley didn't want to bring Tess down. She really wanted someone to be there when she was down, but she didn't want to bring anyone down with her. So she seeked solitude.

"Nothing much. Just exploring really. And you, my saving angel?" she asked with a joking grin.

Tess snorted in amusement at her comment. Haley was funny, and pretty daring for...what she'd heard Hufflepuffs were like...but then again Haley was the only real Hufflepuff she knew. Maybe it was just her and the rest were shyer or whatnot. She'd rather not digress.

She was curious as to why Haley was in the cell to begin with, but when she responded, it sounded fair. At least in her eyes, she was oblivious to the fact that her response was a farce. After all she was exploring too, and she figured everyone had to do it once in a while. The castle was there to explore, at least in her eyes.

"I wanted to play hero I suppose saving a maiden from the tower" she smirked. "Seriously? I just wanted to check out more cells, I get bored reading books so I just...trod off somewhere figuring out how to waste away the hours."

Soon she felt herself being pulled back and felt herself falling. She fell on the floor wide eyed, her eyes glassy from the memory.

Occlumency : 3rd Years : 2nd Lesson Empty Re: Occlumency : 3rd Years : 2nd Lesson

Post by Haley Vilde Smith Fri May 04, 2012 6:06 am

Haley breathed as the encounter in the Prison Tower played out between them. Then Tess broke the spell, and Haley breathed a bit heavier. She then grinned. "Awesome," she said, straightning up, having caught her breath. "Ready?" she asked.

She waited for a nod and then pointed her wand at Tess. "Legilimens!" she said firmly, breaking into a darkness, looking around, squinting, looking for the wall.

She found it, and started picking at it, firmer and firmer. She finally broke through after a while and then looked at the memory that formed in front of her.

Tess gripped the ground as she began to transform. It wasn't complete, she knew it not yet at least. She felt her bone cracking and breaking as she began to shrink in size. Her hair began to turn white and her eyes grew but retained their soft brown color. She smiled inwardly as she felt her clothes fall and she was there, so close. She felt her bones crack once more as paws were forming and she turned around a few times finding herself the white fox she was....except for a tail.

She groaned, well sounded more like a growl and once she broke the concentration she returned back to normal. She immediately slipped her clothes on, grumbling curses at herself for not succeeding yet. But that all stopped as she heard the crackling of fire and the smell of something came to her nose. She immediately picked up her remaining clothing and hid as she struggled to put them back on.

Merlin, you really can't practice at night can you she growled at the thought.

Haley then felt a harsh nudge and the darkness engulfed her once more, throwing her out. She fell to the floor with a bump and felt completely confused for a second or so. She then smiled. Tess was becoming an animagus too? Haley had, only last year, finally managed to transform into an eagle. She now really wanted them to become closer friends, as she knew they'd have so much laughter at being animals.

She then rose and dusted off her robes. "That was pretty ... fun? Interesting? Either one, you pick," she said with a grin. She then turned to professor Nocte. "Was that it, or should we continue?" she asked curiously.

Post by Tess McCartney Fri May 04, 2012 6:16 am

Tess was in a daze and blinked a few times from her intercepting Haley's mind. Once she felt herself prepared she began to build the wall and closed her eyes. As soon as darkness overturned her she nodded towards Haley and felt the familiar tremor in her head.

Oh she was good. Immediately she felt her push through the wall, surprised Tess and she saw one of her secrets. Oh Merlin, she tried to close off, but the memory played on. Still she managed to shut her out before she met the centaurs.

She was once more hit with a small dizzy spell and was glad she was on the floor already. She waited for the Professor to instruct them something to do.

Professor Nocte watched with great interest as her students practiced with each other.

"How do you feel right now?" she asked when they stopped. Must be tired. "If you like you can share your experiences. Learning from others is a good idea. Before I forget, five points each to Slytherin and Hufflepuff for doing well this lesson."

Haley smiled softly. "Well, I feel pretty tired, and it feels as though my limbs are kind of wanting to give way, but it was pretty amazing to search another one's brain. It was so weird. I've never experienced anything like it really," she said truthfully.

She then turned to Tess, and gave a smile saying; I won't tell. She then turned back to the professor, knowing that if she wanted to know, she'd probably find out somehow.

Tess smiled softly at Haley as she was glad she'd keep the secret safe. She nodded agreeing with her and got up steadying herself.

"I agree. Honestly, I felt as if there was darkness and suddenly light appeared"

Professor Nocte smiled as her students talked about their experiences.

"I hope you will never forget how it felt," she said. "But remember, Occlumency is a very dangerous magic. It intrudes in one's privacy. Next week, we will do the exact same, but this time you will not be able to use the pensive. Our secrets is what we want to keep to ourselves the most, so you must fight to keep it that way if you fear it to come out. It seems like we are done, you may go."
