Lesson Three - Second Years Empty Lesson Three - Second Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Mon May 14, 2012 6:38 pm

Raven looked around her classroom, her eyes slowly blinked shut and she opened them once more, the pale violet being replaced by the dark angry shade of black that often graced her features now. There was a trouble in her mind...

It had grown and grown over these past few weeks. Since she had been made the Godparent to Briony's child, since she had named her child after her.

Why were her children not the same as hers? She did not understand why they were not the same as Raven, and it had worn away at her thoughts. Now she idlly played with the tendrils of ripped clothes that Leo, her favourite wraith, had, staring blankly at the open door to her classroom.

On the board was what they would be learning today:

'Babbling Beverage'

Lesson Three - Second Years Empty potions lesson three

Annika notice the door open but didn't see Steve at the door to greet her. Taking this as a sign of something not quite right, she quietly entered and took her seat. She wanted to sit up close this lesson so she could definitely get all the notes copied before anyone else arrived and could be ready. she'd been slow the last lesson and it almost cost her house points.

she noticed that the professor didn't look quite as calm as before so she just nodded not smiling as she got her desk arranged. Then she looked at the board and copied:

"BABBLING BEVERAGE"
and wondered just what that was going to in-tale.

Alex hadn't been in a very good mood, she was angry because her dad was being a jerk she lost Snow and wondered where he had gone and her life was spiraling down.

Alex walked into class and blinked she almost wanted to growl at Annika but Alex sighed and walked to her normal desk in the back and she gave the Sweeney a small nod and she looked at what they would be learning and Alex sighed and waited for the rest of the class to show up.

Katrina was ready as ever for potions class so she headed into the room. She enjoyed this class for many different reasons but she had hoped at least this time that Hugo would show up. Last time she had to work with a Verstand and she didn't want it to happen again.

Walking into the class she saw that Alex and Annika were already there. She knew the students because she had been in class with them for the last almost 2 years but she had never actually talked to them.

She took her seat behind the girls and waited for the class to begin.

Raven looked around the students, there were less than last time but that bothered her not, all she cared about now was making sure that her students who were here did this lesson as soon as possible and got out of her sight before she snapped again;

"Who can tell me what this potion does? It's not hard, so if nobody answers I will assume you all idiots and not allow you near a cauldron for the rest of the course." she said coldly.

Alex blinked and raised her hand slowly " Babbling beverage causes whom ever drinks it to speak nonsense" Alex said a little unsure she hoped she got it right but she sighed inwardly and stared at her desk.

She hoped she looked at her desk and she sighed inwardly and hoped she knew she was probably going to be the only one that answered.

Annika listened as Alex answered. She knew that was probably right, but she didn't want to be banned from the use of a cauldron so she shyly raised her hand.
"Excuse, me ma'am. Doesn't the potion cause you to talk constantly, and if you are asked a question you can't help but answer it if you know the answer even if you know it will get someone into trouble? I think I heard about it somewhere before."
Then catching herself 'babbling' she quickly ducked her head and started writing down hers and alex's answers under what is this potion she had written on her parchment already. Oh, how she hoped she wasn't going to get into trouble with her answer.

Katrina listened to everyone's answers and could not help but roll her eyes as the others answer. Well anyone who has half a brain knows the answer to that question.

Kat was just read to start brewing it.

Raven looked at the two students with a dull look in her eyes, she did not speak but rather tapped the board and in a rather jagged writing, there appeared the words:

'Correct Alex. Correct Annika. 5 points to Geschick.'

Then Raven tapped the board again and she thought of the recipe that she wanted to appear there, and appear it did, she rather liked this spell it meant that she could look at all the students as they wrote down the method;

''Ingredients:

Powdered Root of Asphodel (1 teaspoon)
Wormwood (2 twigs)
Eye of Newt (2 small ones or 1 large)
Tube Worms (3)
Erumpant Exploding Fluid (4 drops)

1. Add the tube worms one at a time to the base potion when your cauldron is on a medium heat only
2. Take your ladel and stir the potion three times clockwise, wait for it to turn translucent
3. Crumble the wormwood and add to the potion, it must be a fine powder
4. Leave the potion for 5 minutes and turn the heat up to full
5. Then add the eye of newt you have collected and wait for the potion to turn orange in colour
6. This is the DANGEROUS part, turn the heat right down to add the exploding fluid, add one drop at a time, waiting one minute intervals between each ingredient.'

"You are to work on your own." she said quietly "Begin."

Lesson Three - Second Years Empty lesson three potions

Post by Annika Bauermeister Sat May 19, 2012 7:00 am

Annika quickly wrote down what she needed, turned her cauldron to a low heat and went to the cupboard to gather her ingredients. She knew that 'the Sweeney" was carefully watching as always and it made her nervous. Thinking about Oma, she could see her loving eyes and smile and it seemed to clam her enough that she could concentrate. Returning to ther cauldron she began working on her potion and her thoughts.

Alex sighed and listened to the Sweeney and she nodded inwardly and she got the ingredents and started brewing the potion she sighed and turned the cauldron on.

Alex gasped as she burned herself, she bit her lip and began brewing her potion she added the tube worms one at a time in the base potion while it was still on medium heat and she burned herself again in the process she gasped again and sighed.

She used the ladle and stirred it three times clockwise and sighed as she waited for it to translucent she sighed and when it finally turned translucent she crumbled the wormwood until it was a fine powder than she added it to the potion she left it alone for five minutes as instructed and she burned herself again as she turned the heat up to full, she glared at the potion.

Alex added the eye of newt and sighed the burn were starting to hurt she rubbed her hand and saw the potion turned orange she sighed and turned the heat down and she added the exploding fluid she added them one at a time counting a minute in her head she sighed and waited for the Sweeny to say something.

Hearing Alexandra gasp a little Annika turned to see her pull her had away. "I hope she didn't get too badly burned she thought, she crumbled the wormwood into a fine powder. she had to be very careful with this potion and took a deep breath as she poured the powder into the liquid. she then sat back to wait for the last five minutes. While she waited she turned to see what Alexandra and Katrina's progress was. After the five minutes she cautiously added the eye of newt and watched as it turned orange. Then following the last instructions, she fearfully added the four drops of Erumpant Exploding Powder and held her breath.

Katrina was glad to get the list of potion ingredients and so she could began her potion.

Katrina wrote down the directions on how to do the potion:

Add the tube worms one at a time to the base potion when your cauldron is on a medium heat only, then take your ladel and stir the potion three times clockwise, wait for it to turn translucent. Next you need to crumble the wormwood and add to the potion, it must be a fine powder.

Katrina set her timer for 5 mines and then turn on full heat. Next Katrina added the eye of newt you have collected and wait for the potion to turn orange in colour.

This is the DANGEROUS part, turn the heat right down to add the exploding fluid, add one drop at a time, waiting one minute intervals between each ingredient.'

Katrina did not want an exploding potion, so she did the last step very carefully. She looked like she had the perfect potion.
