Lesson Three - Second Years Empty Lesson Three - Second Years

Post by Natasha Willow Wed May 16, 2012 2:24 pm

Natasha was excited for the next round of classes. As she waited for the second years to arrive, she checked on the Clabberts.

She had felt rather neglectful of the hands-on experience for her students throughout the first three lessons since some of the creatures had needed to be kept in cages. Over the weekend she had done some reading in the library and found a rather handy spell that would allow her to contain creatures in a pen, thus allowing the students to interact with them without fear of them running off.

These particular Clabberts were loaned to Natasha by a dear friend that bred them. He had raised them around humans, and therefore they were not prone to much biting, though if provoked...well all creatures could defend themselves when needed.

Satisfied that everything was in order she quietly waited outside the pens.

Xander quietly walked down to class. He felt much better this week now that he had let off some steam over the weekend.

As he entered the clearing, he gave a small nod to the professor, "Good morning," and took up a position leaning against a nearby tree.

Sam sighed as she walked to Care of magical creatures, things hadn't been going good for her, Sam sighed and glanced at Xander she didn't mind him but Sam clentched her teeth because her ankle that she had broken a few weeks ago was starting to throb.

Sam glared at her ankle and she gave the professor a nod and she just stood there and waited for everyone else to show up.

Jaycie hurried down to her class. She really didn't want to be late, but she couldn't help it. She'd stayed back later at the library trying to finish off some homework before class, but it hadn't worked and she was really far behind.

She rounded the last corner and entered the CoMC area, to see pens with creatures in it that looked fascinating and two students already there. Jay nodded politely to the professor and stood awkwardly away from the rest of the class, whom she didn't know so well.

Lesson Three - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Second Years

Natasha had been expecting a few more students, but she wasn't disappointed. Creatures weren't for everyone and she would share her love for them with whoever showed up.

"Hello class. Today we will be learning about Clabberts." She gestured to the pen where the creatures were meandering around. They looked similar to an overgrown frog, but they moved like a monkey would. They're little horns sat on either side of a red welt-like protrusion on their foreheads.

"These creatures are sometimes kept as a warning system for witches and wizards because the red bumps on their heads will flash when they sense danger." She opened the gate for them.

"Today I would like you to have the experience of interacting with them. They could be very useful pets, if you choose to have them when you grow up. Since they normally feed on lizards and birds, I thought I'd spare you that experience." She smiled at them. She wanted her students to get the best experience possible with these creatures, and didn't feel that handling dead birds and lizards would be a great thing.

Lesson Three - Second Years Empty Re: Lesson Three - Second Years

Xander walked through open gate and slowly approached one of the Clabberts. As he did, the slow-moving creature simply looked at him, as if sizing him up.

Hoping to be able to actually touch the creature, to feel that weird skin, Xander sat down a few feet away, not wanting to scare him away. The Clabbert continued to eye him warily, but swung closer on his ape-like arms. Xander held his hand out in a non-threatening motion and was excited when the creature grabbed his palm and turned it around, looking for something.

Natasha smiled at Mr. Clarke, happy that someone was actually getting into the mood of it all.

Clapping her hands together, she turn to address them all. "Alright, lesson is over. I would like each of you to write 50 words on the Clabbert, what you saw, and what you can find in your text book. This will be turned in next class."

She motioned for Mr. Clarke to exit the pen, and then closed it behind him, happy with the lesson.
