DADA first years - fourth lesson
Lucia sat by her desk, waiting for the class to walk into the room. She pointed her wand to the blackboard, and the word 'incendio' appeared. She then conjured a tank filled with lake water into the classroom, a small being with many tentacles inside, looking like an alien. She made sure the creature didn't feel threatened by trying to send some energy from herself to it. It responded and turned to her, the eyes shining with trust. She smiled to it, knowing it would understand that she would never wish to harm it.
She conjured some small buckets of water to be placed on every student's desk. She then turned as the first students filed in.
"All right class! As you can see, we'll be learning about the spell 'incendio' today. First of all, who can tell me what the spell does?" she asked, looking at them all.
When one of the students raised their hand, she pointed to them and they answered.
Then she turned fully to the class again. "And the tank behind me holds a creature from the Black Lake. Can anyone guess what creature it is? And what effect does the spell have on it?" she asked them.
(OOC: Yeah, new things all around, but reply only to either the one with the incendio spell or the one where Lucia asks what creature it is and what the spell would do to the creature. Hope that's understandable. Also, it's important that the person replying first to this thread replies to the first question if it has yet to be answered.)

Re: DADA first years - fourth lesson
Iola raised her hand and was promptly called on to answer.
"The spell can set something on fire. It can be kind of dangerous if you can't control it though." She answered.

Lucia smiled as Iola replied to her first question, but the second question was then left unanswered. That was understandable. She pushed herself off the desk. "You're quite right, Ms. Avalon, five points to Slytherin. It produces fire, and as long as you focus it will be yours to control. However, if you should lose control of it, a simple waterspell will stop it. The creature in the tank is a Grindylow. It has alien skin and will poison your skin when you're touched by one the first time, though not at all lethally, because your skin has never come in contact with anything like theirs. But the second time a grindylow touches you, it will have no effect," she explained.
"The incendio curse works very well on grindylows, but you will not be performing the spell at the creature. The water in front of you is what you shall burn. Try to burn it until it evaporates. A flick down and then up again is the handmovement, and you pronounce it 'In-CEN-dio'," she said kindly, "If you succeed, ten points will be awarded to you."
