Settin' up Shop (Open)

[Eric Stryker]

Eric entered his new office. He had, just a few hours ago, exited a flight from Colorado to London and would be understandably tired. And yet, he wasn't the least bit drowsy. He was too excited to get working as the new Head Auror. He remembered something his father had taught him. With great power, comes great responsibility. This saying had unceremoniously become Eric's motto to live by. It taught him humility. He had to duck slightly to enter his office. At 6' 4" and muscular, he cut a pretty imposing figure. The Western getup and silver anti flash glasses made him look even tougher.

Looking around, he noticed that the office was rather bland and sparsely furnished. That was going to change. Putting down the rucksack he had on his back, he began taking out magically miniaturized furniture, books, and other odds and ends. He fished in his duster pocket and procured a wrapped peppermint. Unwrapping the sweet candy, he popped it in his mouth and set to work.

Placing the baseball-sized furniture in the general area where he would want it, Eric hummed a country song he had heard from his iPhone. He was surprisingly up to date with this whole technology gig for some one born in the 80's. Satisfied for the time being, he enlarged the furniture and set to work adjusting it.

The first was a big, plush, leather seat that he loved. It faced the fireplace where the floo would be. Next came a coffee table with an American Western engraving on the surface. The leather couch followed. Eric had to move it over a tad, but he completed the task with ease.

Moving to his desk, he took out some things and set them on his desk. It was a maple surface with multiple drawers and raised engravings of horses with cowboy riders on the drawers as well as a closed off front that hid most of his legs. The first was a picture of him at West Point. He was dressed in formal uniform and had a casual smirk to his face. The next was a photograph of him and his family in their best Sunday clothes. His son, Shane, was about three and was being held by Eric, his thumb in his mouth. Eric's wife, Elizabeth, was next to him and cradling their daughter, who was only a few months old. He smiled at the photo.

He stood up and moved to the wall over the fireplace. He reached into the rucksack and withdrew a shrunken glass case. Enlarging it back to its original size, Eric hung it on a hook that protruded from the wall. Inside it were two polished Colt 1894 Bisley's as well as a few rounds. His wife told him he could only leave one or two guns at the house, so that meant that the other four were going to be set up/hidden in his office. An ACR 15 came next. Eric pressed a side panel in his desk and slid it into a hidden compartment that one would have to be behind his desk to see. Finally, he set his Desert Eagle and holster into the top drawer of his desk.

Taking a breath, he slid off his duster and hat and hung them on the coat rack by his door. He flopped onto the leather seat and closed his eyes behind his glasses to catch some shut eye.

Briony had heard that there had been a new Head Auror appointed after the death of her friend Danielle Thornhill, it was a surprise to her given how talented the woman seemed to be, but then again it showed to her just how much appearances could be decieving.

With a small sigh, she ran her hands through her hair, her temper had been more flaring than normal, due to the nights without sleep and the constant attention Raven required, but she had been managing to relax now she was back in the schedule of school.

Knocking sharply on the door, Briony thought it best to introduce herself to this new Head Auror, it was only polite.

Eric ears picked up the sharp knocking at his door. Sighing to calm himself down from his jitters this morning and after settin' up his office, he walked over to the door and opened it. He was met with a woman who he recognized from the files he requested the British Ministry for as to information on people he should know. She was one of them.

"Hello, Ma'am, to what do I owe this pleasure?" he said in an obvious Western American accent. He gestured for her to enter his office. His stern military bearing didn't give away the fact that he knew who she was. He thought it polite to first let her introduce herself before a conversation could begin.
