Lesson One - First Years Empty Lesson One - First Years

Post by Natasha Willow Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:31 pm

Natasha made one last round of the Augureys. She wanted to make sure they were all fed and happy for the first years. Holding out the buckets with bugs to them, she received a happy squawk from Jensen, the last bird in the row. He was her own personal Augurey, being a gift from her mother a few years ago.

When she was satisfied that they were all tethered securely to their respective posts, she stood by, waiting for the students to arrive.

Jensen reached out and started picking at Natasha's hair. "Stop it, you." She smiled at him. He let out a quiet cry that tugged at her heart. "I know, darling. And thank you." She nuzzled him and he returned the gesture, earning an extra helping of bugs.

"Hello professor,"I said.I could tell that she had a real way with animals which made me feel less nervous about being eaten by a creature.

Natasha smiled at her only first year. The class was late in starting, she had figured it would take the first years time to find her little clearing by the forest.

"Welcome to Care of Magical Creatures class. My name is Natasha Willow and I will be your professor until further notice."

She rubbed her hands and gestured to the group of birds tethered to their posts. "These creatures are called Augurey's. They were once thought to foretell death, but it was later discovered that their cries only foretell rain. They are quite domesticated at times and are now kept as a kind of weather forecasting pet."

She passed Miss Lovegood a bucket of bugs. "Feel free to feed them a bit and interact with them. I would like 50 words about your interactions and any supplemental material from the text book for next class.
