Occulumency Lesson 1 (COMBINED CLASS)

[Takata Umi]

Takata entered the familiar classroom, purposely slowing his footstep on the wooden flooring to hear that-

Tap...Tap...

Smiling, he went ahead to sit down and waited for his students to arrive.

Melody was first to arrive.
"Hello Professor,"she said before finding a seat.She hadn't seen this professor around before and she wondered if he was new.

Takata noticed a student walking in and he stood up, holding the clipboard and an inked quill.

"Uhm... You are Miss...? Sorry... And yes, you are wondering who I am. I am your new sens- Teacher for Occulumency, Takata Umi... Or Mr Umi." He said, and walked to her.

"Name...?" He asked, while flicking his wand so that the chalk wrote his name on the board.

"I'm Melody Lovegood.It's nice to meet you."

[OOC: Hey, guys! We're currently in the second lesson, so unless the professor accidentally typed in 'lesson one' instead of 'lesson two', then this topic is supposed to be locked up. Just saying, so you guy's will know. If it's just a mistake, I'll go ahead and post ]

Veronica entered the room, quite embarrassed since she hasn't been in the first lesson. Her letter had somehow gotten sent only after the first lesson had started, so she only arrived at Hogwarts the past day.

She sat down on one of the seats and smiled a little. "Good morning, Professor," she looked up at the board, "Umi."

(Actually there was no lesson one for first to third years in this class before so it kind of is the first lesson)
Melody looked up at the voice to see another Ravenclaw first year girl who's name she didn't know.
"Hello,"she greeted her.

[OOC: Ohhh. 'Kay. ]

The girl beside Veronica seemed to have spoken. "Oh, hello," Veronica smiled. "I'm Veronica Evergreene. You?"

She turned to the door, which was closed at the moment, and looked back at the girl. She has seen her in some of her classes, like Defense Against the Dark Arts.

"It's quite strange, isn't it, that we're having combined classes? Small first years that have no idea whatsoever about Occlumency, combined with third years who could probably be experts already." Veronica said quietly.

"I'm Melody Lovegood and yes I guess it is strange,"she replied.

[Takata Umi]

(OOC: Hey I noticed the professor hadn't posted a lesson before? So... To me its lesson 1 )

Takata nodded and ticked Melody's name, before being momentarily distracted by another student coming in.

"Hi! What is your nam-" He started but he overheard the girl introducing herself to the fellow Ravenclaw and nodded.

"Veronica Evergreene..." He nodded and ticked the list.

"So how have you two been? Be nice to me okay?" He joked.

"Okay,"Melody said."How have you been?"

[Takata Umi]

"I've been great! Came from Japan... Missed the UK... And Hogwarts especially... Its been a great experience." Takata smiled.

"Yourself?"

[MelodyLovegood]

"Um,I'm home sick as well,"Melody replied as he sounded like he probably missed his old home.

[Takata Umi]

"Very good, Miss Lovegood! Knowing a person's tone of voice is essential in Occulumency." Takata smiled.

"Very well, we shall begin. Books away and wands out!"

[MelodyLovegood]

Melody beamed even though him being able to read her mind unnerved her but at least the professor knew what he was doing.She put her book away and got her wand out.

[Takata Umi]

"Now, in Occulumency, do not look down on this, saying, Oh, its not an offensive style of attacking... Its not important... But what can be more powerful than entering the mind of your opponent, and playing with him for the rest of his life just by making use of his weaknesses?" Takata gestured about with his wand.

"Miss Lovegood. Please, if you don't mind, tell me the muggle equivalent of controlling the mind." Takata said.

[MelodyLovegood]

"It's hypnotize,"she replied."But it doesn't work on everyone."

[Takata Umi]

"Exactly, another is called pukau, which is more of an Asian method common in Southeast Asia that works by tricking the mind. However, Occulumency is more complicated, in the sense that you enter a person's mind, and leave it, having clear pictures of the event that has happened." Takata explained.

"Would anyone like to be my dummy?"

Melody wondered if she should volunteer.Would the professor go back really far into her mind?She tried hard not to think of anything secretive or embarrassing.Still the best way to learn was though experience and she might need to have a first count experience with Occulumency to help Ebony.
"I'll be the dummy."She certainly felt like a dummy for volunteering.

[Takata Umi]

"Very well, Miss Lovegood. Now I will first announce that I will just breach your mind and come out. I will not delve into it. Now you may take it as a duel if you like." Takata smiled, stepping back and bowing.

"Ladies first."

[MelodyLovegood]

Melody was relieved to hear that but she wasn't sure whether she would take it as a duel or not.Not knowing what else to do she stepped forward with her wand ready.

[Takata Umi]

"Now..." Takata smiled, twirling his wand before suddenly raising it and shouting, "Legilimens!"

[Fia Greene]

Veronica watched as the two started to sort-of duel. The professor said 'Legilimens', but Melody had done nothing yet. Professor Umi had already probably gotten far, and there may be private thoughts in Melody's head.

Without knowing it, Veronica had reached for her wand. Then she dropped it on purpose. It was Melody's turn, not hers. She isn't supposed to interfere.

Melody didn't know if it was luck,that the professor had kept his word or that she was actually managing to block him from some of her memories but he seemed to be just seeing her memories with her cat Jinxy.
Focusing all her strength she pointed her wand and said a shield spell cutting him off when it got to Jinxy chasing owls.Having someone just be in her mind was an unpleasant feeling.She had felt so vulnerable and naked.

[Takata Umi]

Takata felt a shield charm coming, and to prevent his own mind from being penetrated by her, he conjured a shield charm, flicking his wrist and deflecting the spell away.

"That was a very basic understanding of Occulumency. How did it feel? Miss Lovegood?"

Melody tried to search for the right words.
"It felt scary."
