Lesson Four - Second Years

Briony sat at the desk in her classroom, after she had been hit by the spell in the streets she had been more than a little altered, and of course she didn't mind that, she thought that it was a good change, after all, it meant that she was getting more and more powerful.

Running her hand through her hair she looked at the empty desks and she waited for the students to arrive in their lessons, hopefully the least they would do would to be to arrive on time,

While she waited Briony took a long drag on her cigarette, she had made a charm to keep the smoke behind her desk, so the children couldn't moan about her doing it, closing her eyes, she waited for the students to arrive, the lesson point was on the board as usual;

'Finite Incantantem'

Nicholas was excited for his first lesson in duelling. He had been enrolled later than many of his classmates and he really hoped that didn't put him at a disadvantage in lessons. He saw the professor, the headmistress no less, sitting behind her desk and was so very glad that he was just on time,

"Good morning Professor Romain." he greeted her with a slight but respectful bow as he took a seat and waited for the lesson to begin.

Briony stood up and she flicked her cigarette ash to one side before directing her attention at the one student that was still left in her class, it was kind of pitiful that there was only one student but she hoped that that might change in the course of next year.

"Today we are learning about the spell 'Finite Incantantem' do you know what this spell does or what it could be used for in a battle situation? Housepoints may be given for correct answers." she said simply, looking directly at Nicolas as she waited for the student to answer her question, if of course he could.

Nicholas had to admit that Professor Romain looked a little bit intimidating. Of course she also had that aura around her that, in his opinion, made her freaking cool. When she told him what spell they were learning his smile widened. His mother had used it enough at home,

"It disrupts a spell or charm to the point of breaking it. This stops the effects of said spell or charm. In battle..." he paused for a second, "You could use it to disrupt an opponent's spells. Like if they used a jelly-legs curse or something you can counter it."

Briony smirked a little bit and nodded her head, the boy had gotten the answer correct and she was glad that this new student at least seemed to be competent in terms of duelling, maybe she would even enjoy teaching him in the classroom, even if he was on his own in the class, which made it more annoying, seeing as she would have to deal with him directly.

"Well done, 10 points to Gryffindor." Briony nodded, before moving to the front of the classroom, she pointed to the boy and gestured for him to come up to the front of the classroom where she was standing, on the slightly raised platform her desk was also sat on.

"Come up here, you will attempt to curse me, I will show you how the spell is to be used in combat, and then I will cast a curse at you, and you will be expected to counter it with this spell."
