A Darker Purpose (OPEN)

Marylin knew, of course, that she was not supposed to be in this part of the creatures hangouts on her own, however, she found that she really didn't much care for being on the right path as dictated by the majority of society, She enjoyed the rush of going against the rules.

Of course, she was in the only place that she would be able to gain the ingredients she needed for the potion that she was making, they were questionable in legality and the Apothecary in Knocturn Alley didn't seem to have all of the ingredients at the correct fee. Although Marylin was from a rich pureblood family, she still didn't want to pay more than needed.

Flipping her curls back from her face, Marylin looked over the shelves and smirked to herself, her eyes taking on an unnatural tint of malice as she thought about what she would be making later on this evening.

"Hi Marlyin.Looking for medicine or something?I looked up the meaning to Apothecary once and it's a historical name for a medical professional.I wanted to see if it had the same meaning to the wizarding world."

Marylin turned around and was ready to glare at the person who seemed to want to interrupt her looking around the apothecary, and she saw with a great surprise that the person who was talking to her was in fact the girl she had met and explored the Shrieking Shack with, Melody Lovegood.

"Well hello to you too Melody, no, I'm looking for some potions ingredients, I'm brewing one at home with my father." Marylin stated, matter of factly "You came to the creatures apothecary to find that out? A little bit dangerous don't you think?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

"True it is dangerous but seeing is believing and I did't know if anyone I know would know what it was any better than I do.Plus I don't know where else there would be an Apothecary in the wizarding world I barely managed to find this one."

Marylin thought that it was fairly obvious where there would be another apothecary, however she wondered if someone like Melody who so obviously would never go there, would even think about exploring that certain area in London.

"Well there are lots of different apothecary's, there's one in Knocturn Alley, I would have gone there myself but it didn't have the ingredients that I needed for the potion." she grinned.

Picking up a jar of what looked like human eyes, Marylin checked the label, nodded and then placed them in her bag.

Melody wondered what potion but since it involved human eyes she wasn't really sure if she wanted to know.

Marylin saw Melody looking at the eyes that she had placed in the basket and she chuckled a little to herself, she knew that it must be a little bit strange to see someone buying human eyes, and even stranger if she knew what she was going to do with them.

"Its for a potion that enables the drinker to see things that have been enchanted with a concealment charm, because it has something to do with vision, it needs eyes." she grinned "If you were wondering."

Marylin chuckled a little bit, the first time that she looked at an eye not in the body it was something that had made her feel more than a little bit ill, however she was very young when she first saw that sight, and she had grown used to it now.

Taking the jar out of her basket again, Marylin jiggled the eyes a little bit and then she held the jar out to Melody;

"Do you want a closer look? Its even worse when you have to cut one up to put in a potion, even I hate that part."

Marylin couldn't seem to resist giving a small smirk when Melody told her that she didn't want to see the eyes any closer than they were at the moment, she kind of understood that to be honest, but she placed the eyes back in her bag rather slowly anyway.

"Do you ever brew any potions of your own while you are at home?" she asked her head tilted to one side "You don't seem the type to brew potions when you have no need to, but then again I could be wrong."

Marylin tilted her head to one side, her curls bouncing lightly as she did so, she wondered if Melody was one of those people who loved potions at heart, maybe she would have some competition when it came to getting a job at the end of her schooling career.

She had hoped to open her own potions boutique, that made potions ready to order and also sold ingredients to make your own, hopefully that would still be a possibility for her.

"Well it depends if you want to take up potions as a career when you have finished school, if you are not looking to persue it, then what is the point?" she asked with a grin.

Marylin laughed lightly, it was a slightly tinny sound as she didn't often laugh, she just smirked normally, but she thought that the only potions she would need to cut eyeballs open for was the darker potions, that someone like Melody would probably never brew.

"I think that it is only darker potions that you need to use ingredients like this, from bodies and things." she grinned "So I wouldn't worry about having to do that at all, do you know what you want to do when you grow up if it's not a potions mistress?"

"The thought of me doing dark potions is laughable?I wonder if I should be insulted.As long as it's not dark potions I probably wouldn't mind being a potions mistress but I don't know what I'd want to be when I grow up."

Marylin took no shame in being one of lifes brutally honest people when it came to those who she was not trying to butter up to get her to do something, and it was in this case that she was going to be brutally honest, she and Melody were not cut from the same, dark, cloth.

"Oh don't take offense I merely mean that you don't appear to be the kind of person to enjoy using dark potions, or enjoy making them in fact given your reaction to the ingredients here." she smirked a little bit "Maybe you should give that some thought? The OWLS will be here before we know it."

Well at least Marlyin was being honest with her. "Yeah time really does fly by expect when you want it to then it just drags on.But I'm only in second year so I still have some time to make up my mind."

Marylin was a little shocked that Melody was only a second year, but then again she supposed she had just forgotten her year, she did tell her when they had first met after all, perhaps it was just because it was always something to slip her mind, ages and dates that was.

"That's very true, I think that potions is the only alleyway that I want to go down, perhaps I should be able to open my own shop when I earn enough money, or I shall use my personal savings...who knows." she grinned.

Turning to the till Marylin smiled at Melody; "I'll just go and pay for these ingredients."

Marylin blinked a little bit when Melody so suddenly said that she needed to leave, not like Marylin minded, it was rather strange for her to appear in the first place, and she would be left alone to explore the rest of the creatures hang outs unhindered.

With a curt nod in her direction Marylin turned back to the chasier and paid for her ingredients with a slight roll of her eyes, swooping her blonde hair behind her shoulders, it really was something she detested, feeling like she was being observed while she did something.

After saying good bye to Marylin Melody sneaked out of the creatures' hangout without being seen and decided to go home. She didn't really have anywhere she needed to be she just didn't want to be around a place that sold eyeballs for too long. Still Marylin had got her thinking. She wondered what she should do after school ended.

Once the ingredients had been bought, Marylin stepped out of the store and drew her velvet cloak around her shoulders, placing the hood over her head so that her face was shrouded, she didn't want anyone spotting the daughter of the notable Mason family in such an area, it would not be good for her families reputation.

With a small sigh she set off home, her eyes widening at some of the creatures that inhabited this area, they surely were wonderful, especially the vampires, she could look at one of the males all day long, they were so beautiful.
