In touch with nature (Char and James)

[James Irvine]

James laid himself down on the grass of the meadow with a small sigh. He really did enjoy being in the Faerie Glade. It brought him peace and the Faeries themselves didn't seem to mind his presence. Which was nothing short of a miracle considering what his brother had done to the vampires, another type of creature.

Sighing a little bit he closed his eyes tightly. Opening them slowly he looked up into the bright blue sky and saw one, lone, cloud,

"I wan'er lonely as a clou'..." he muttered to himself before sighing, "Times like tis I wish I'd had more time te make frien's an' shi' instea' o' learnin te shoot. Tey'd help me figure tis shi' ou'."

Charlotte had been quite happily painting her new picture of the faeries in the glade, she enjoyed seeing their beautiful wing colours and the tiny little clothes that they wore were so beautiful and intricate, Charlotte often found herself hoping that she would be able to make something like that in time. Who knows, maybe the faeries would even wear them when she was done.

It was then however that she heard someone talking a little way away, and she looked from around the tree that she was hidden behind, seeing that Uncle James was there again, with a large happy smile, Charlotte shrunk the easel and placed it back in a bag, applying the sticking charm to the paint so it wouldn't run.

Dashing over to Uncle James, Charlotte grinned widely;

"Uncle James! Fancy seeing you here!" she giggled.

When James heard movement from the trees, coming closer at a rather fast rate, he immediately felt his hand go for the combat knife on his upper right leg. Seeing that it was only Charlotte he relaxed and chuckled ever so slightly. Trust Charlotte to be the one to come to his emotional rescue,

"Hey ter Char." he replied with a grin of his own, "I kno' righ'? I've never seen yer here before an' I've been comin here fer years."

He laid back down on the grass and patted the ground next to him,

"Come an' watch some clouds wit yer uncle James."

Charlotte smiled happily and she couldn't believe that she had managed to meet James here again, it was just like when she met him in the ice cream parlour in Diagon Alley, it was so strange but it was very very welcome none the less.

It seemed that once again he needed her help with something, maybe he was getting sad about Aurelia again? Who knew?

"Well I normally come here when I need to do some softer paintings, I've just been doing a piece on the faeries, they like having me paint them I think, as long as I do it right." she giggled.

Lying back on the grass, Charlotte asked;

"Are you okay Uncle James? I haven't seen you for a while after all. Aurelia still mad at you?"

Meeting up with Charlotte for the first time had been a rare stroke of good fortune but meeting up with her for a second time, here of all places, was nothing short of spectacular. It really was a big boost to see her again. He grinned,

"I bet yer've come up wit some righ' masterpieces with tis place as inspiration fer yer!" he told her with a grin, "An' I bet tha' ye've made te paintin's even better tan real life."

He chuckled a little bit before shaking his head,

"Nah Aurelia is coolin down now... we're gettin closer again." he admitted with a slightly smiled before frowning, "Tell me Char... if someone does someting evil... really evil... shoul' yer still love tem?"

Charlotte blinked and she couldn't help but let a small blush appear across her cheeks, she didn't think that her paintings were that good, however she was glad that she had begun to make a name for herself, if only among the people that she was friends with at the moment.

Maybe one day she would finally be able to turn into the professional that she hoped that she would be, and her contacts would include some of her inspirational magical artists.

"Awwww thank you James, and I started to work on your tattoo image, if you were still thinking of getting it." she smiled happily "I hope that you like what I've done so far."

When James asked her what he did, Charlotte frowned a little and she thought about it for a few moments; "Well I would say it depended on who they were and what it was they had actually done...why?"

When he saw that his compliment had made his little 'neice' blush he chuckled a little bit and considered ruffling her hair but didn't. She was a big girl now after all. And her art was just that good, he wasn't telling a single lie when he complimented Charlotte's skills at painting. They really were amazing.

He had no doubt that by the time she left school her art would find it's way into some of the highest art galleries and offices around the world. Rumour had it that the Minister already had some,

"Yer did? Awwww yer set aside te time fer me? I'm flattered Char an' ye, I'm still tinkin abou' having it." he told her with a grin, "I'm sure tha' what ye've done is exactly what I'd be happy with."

He sighed a little bit. James really didn't want to tell Charlotte that his brother had senselessly slaughtered hundreds of vampires,

"Well I can' tell yer who tey are. But I can tell yer what tey've done. Tey... he... killed Vampires... fer sport Char. An' he killed... hundreds o' em." he told her quietly before looking away, "I'm askin because I'm no' so sure I shoul' stick by him after all tha'."

Charlotte couldn't help but feel very proud of herself when James said that he thought that whatever she would have done would have been good enough, however she hoped that she would be able to work on her piece a little bit more before she had to show James, it wasn't quite perfect as of yet.

"Well you will be able to see it when I'm finished, I'm not finished just yet so you will have to wait until I see you next." she teased gently "I want to make sure that it's as good as I can make it."

Listening intently, Charlotte's eyes widened and she sat up from her laid back position on the grass, they had killed somebody for fun, lots of people for fun? She knew that Cobalt had killed lots of people, but that was because they were bad and he didn't enjoy it at all.

"Personally, I would find it really hard to get along with anybody who did that, but if you are really close to them, then maybe it's worth telling them that you feel you can't be around them any more, and then maybe you can work it out between you?"

James knew that what she'd already 'drafted' would probably be better than anything, any tattoo artist could ever have come up with. But he also knew that Charlotte was a perfectionist. She wouldn't rest until every little detail was perfect and it there was even one part that wasn't she would be seriously annoyed,

"Ah yer teased me with yer lil line abou' it bein mostly done." he fake-complained with a mock-pout before grinning, "Ah yer know tha' yer'll make it perfect."

When Charlotte sat up from the shock of what the person had done he had to admit that he didn't rate the chances of her accepting his continued brotherly love for Jack. He nodded his head,

"It's a tough battle te even be in te same room. Te ting is I've told him what I tink abou' it but he still refuses te tink ter's anyting wron' with it when I know tha ter is..." he paused before sighing, "It's Jack."

Charlotte smiled gently and she lightly punched uncle James on the arm, she was just glad to see him again and sometimes she couldn't help but be a little bit cheeky to him, but she supposed that he liked it well enough, since he kept on wanting to see her.

"Well that's what I strive to do!" she giggled "I want to make every work fo art that I am commissioned as perfect as possible, it is my job after all as an artist."

Hearing that the man in question still thought that there was nothing wrong with what he had done, Charlotte made an even larger face of disgust, she really didn't think that this man would even be worth being friends with, even knowing if that was his view!

"Oh my..." she whispered when she heard that it was Jack "Well Uncle James' he's your twin...I don't think you should abandon him just yet...but when he's done so much wrong..."
