Second Lesson - First Years
Now The Doctor was one of the first to admit that he liked being Highmaster of Durmstrang. After all, it came with a lot of power and pretty much everything went your way. The only problem was that every problem in the school became his. Which was why he was new standing in a classroom ready to teach a class he really didn't want to teach.

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
Alys had made her way to the third floor with the throng of first years for her Transfiguration but had fallen somewhat behind in the crowd. So when the witch rounded the corner, all of them had already entered, presumably into the classroom right ahead. The witch smoothed her skirt and shifted her book bag from one shoulder to another, striding to the room with quick steps. Hoover, when she reached the door, it was to see The Doctor there.
The witch wondered if she had entered the wrong class but then saw that all her fellow first years were indeed seated. Walking in, the witch choose an empty desk at the back, wondering why the Highmaster was here.

Avangeline was in the middle of the pack of students headed towards Transfiguration. When they arrived at the classroom she was surprised to see the Highmaster there. Was Durmstrang really so low on Instructors that some had to take multiple subjects? The war must be heating up then.
Seeing Alys some in towards the back of the group of students, she gestured to the Muhe witch that they find a seat together.

Tarragon wasn't looking forward to his Tranfiguration lesson, it was one of the classes he didn't feel comfortable in. Lagging behind the other students as to make sure he got one of the seats in the back row, Tarragon wondered what they were going to be learning today. Hopefully it would be nothing complicated...

The Doctor waved at his students as they filed into the classroom. Transfiguration was another subject he only really did on high levels so this was kind of a challenge for him. He clapped his hands happily,
"I'm The Doctor, you already know that, this is Transfiguration and you already know that!" he greeted them happily, smiling wide, "What you don't know... is what we're going to be doing today! It's nothing too difficult but we're going to start off with a little quiz. For five house points... what is the only metal that you cannot transfigure something into without aid?"

"Gold?" Alys' hand was in the air before she knew it and the witch blushed at her own enthusiasm. Maybe she was wrong but she remembered her Papa telling her how it was against the law to transfigure monies and that only Goblins could be involved in the manufacturing of it. The girl didn't know all the details but she hoped the answer wasn't completely off the mark.

Tarragon hadn't had two seconds to even think about the answer before Alys had nearly screamed the answer at the Doctor. He tried very hard not to laugh, but a small squeak of a laugh managed to come out of his mouth.
He supposed she was right, the only ones able to make more were the goblins at the Wizarding Banks. He smiled at Alys' cleverness, and possibly the extra five house points they would recieve!

The Doctor nodded to Alys with a small smile,
"Right you are my dear. Five points." he cleared his throat, "Gold is the one element that cannot be transfigured or conjured from any existing element or nothingness. You can only transfigure and conjure gold through the use of..."
He paused before pointing at Tarragon,
"What item?"

Re: Second Lesson - First Years
Tarragon thought for a moment, he really wasn't sure. A little voice whispered the answer to him in his head and he smiled.
"The Philosopher's Stone, Sir."
