Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
The first year had realized her strategic error after suggesting they steal food from the school kitchen when both she and Tarragon had shrugged simultaneously upon her asking "So... how do we get in there..?"
Without a clue as to where they should start, the two Muhe students had decided to start from the dungeons. And by an unforeseen stroke of luck, had hit the target on the very first level they tried to search. Or at least, almost hit the target...
The kitchens were here, down in the dungeons. But where exactly, neither student could tell. Alys looked up at the boy beside her hopefully. Maybe he had some idea.

Tarragon didn't really know what they were looking for to find the kitchens. The dungeons looked the same everywhere they went. He was ready to tell Alys that they should give up, when he caught the smell of food. Halting in his tracks, he sniffed the air like a dog, before pointing in the direction he believed the room to be.
Grabbing Alys' right arm he pulled her along in the direction of the smell. He kept following his nose, until all they were looking at was a blank wall. Well at first glance it was a blank wall. Tarragon looked down to see a door that could have been no higher than his knees. He smiled turning to Alys.
"I think Fraulein Diederich, I have found the doorway to food!"

Alys had spent the entire time kitchen hunting giggling and being dragged along by Tarragon. The sight of him using his sense of smell to detect food was hilarious and by the time the two students had reached the small door, the girl was almost doubled over with laughter.
"I think Fraulein Diederich, I have found the doorway to food!"
Alys let anthropic giggle escape her at the line and automatically reached up to pat his hair like one would pat a puppy. "Good boy," she chuckled, mussing his hair in the process. "Now how do we get in?"

"Good boy,"
He scowled at Alys for patronising him, before setting his hair back into the neatness she had just ruined.
"I would suggest we would have to get on our hands and knees and crawl through the door, what with it being a door for a the size of a house elf. Ladies first..." Tarragon laughed whilst pushing the door open for her and showing with his hand the way for her to go. "That is how things are done of course!"
He couldn't help but laugh harder now, this was all rather bizarre, but fun nonetheless!

"What? You're going to make me go first?" the witch pouted, aiming to look dejected but failing somewhat by breaking out into giggles the next minute. "Fine, alright then. But remember, whoever goes in first gets to the food first too."
And with that, the girl slipped down to the floor and in two quick movements, was on the other side of the door and already getting back up and dusting off her jeans. Turning towards the outside, she mock gestured for him to enter, making an archway with her arms.
"Here ye, here ye," she intoned. "All hail Ser Tarragon of House Muhe on his noble quest to grab a bite to eat!"

Tarragon scooted through the door just after Alys.
"Here ye, here ye," she intoned. "All hail Ser Tarragon of House Muhe on his noble quest to grab a bite to eat!"
Tarragon chuckled at Alys' speach.
"You realise then, that makes you my Knecht? Get me some food, Knecht!" He chuckled to himself, though he knew once Alys realised what he said she would be after him with a stick!

"Why you-" Alys began, already searching for something to throw at his face for calling her that when a squeaky voice interrupted her.
"Guten abend herr, fraulein. Wie können wir ihnen helfen?"
The witch blushed guiltily at the polite speech coming from somewhere by her knee, trying to not look like she was searing for a pie to shove her housemate's face in. "We... just came for some food," she said shyly, nudging Tarragon by her side, hoping he would take over from there. She had never seen an elf before and had no idea how to talk to one.

"Could you bring this fine lady and myself some good hearty food please, elf? We have been travelling long and far to get something to eat, and now our mission is accomplished!"
He giggled, staying in the story Alys had started. He looked over to her, a question playing on his lips.
"Alys, are you trying to get me in trouble, or is this normal behaviour for you?"
He'd always thought Alys would be the goody-two-shoes, but it turned out she was making him play her childish games, but he couldn't help enjoy himself.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
The elf, bless it, took the mock order with a straight face, which was more than the girl could say for herself as she burst out laughing. "Please and thank you," she added to the retreating elf so as to assure it they weren't being rude.
"Alys, are you trying to get me in trouble, or is this normal behaviour for you?"
"it is when I'm hungry," the witch replied merrily looking around the kitchen. It was made up almost entirely of stone. Stone walls, stone floor, a great big stone fireplace to one end which seemed to house stone shelves that served as ovens. Racks with numerous dishes in various states of preparation and a huge marble topped counter at the center where invisible workers seemed to be hard at work, from cutting vegetables to stirring cookie mixtures to scrubbing utensils. Alys could just see her Mama loving a huge kitchen like this.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
Tarragon smiled at her answer, it was good enough he supposed. He leant against the wall before sliding down into a sit. He was tired, and hungry, but thankfully food was on its way.
"I suppose that would be a good enough reason should we get caught down here by any teachers!" He chuckled at the end of his sentance.
He tapped the ground next to him in a motion for her to sit next to him. The house elf came back over with plates piled so high that you couldn't see his face. They had a proper banquet brought to them, there were cookies, chicken legs, bread and a jug of pumpkin juice, not to mention different kinds of fruits scattered on the plate. Tarragon could feel his eyes get wider. How could all of this just be for the two of them?
"Will that be all, sir?" The house elf enquired. Tarragon nodded, waving the house-elf away.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
Without any preambles, the witch sat down on the stone floor beside him, glad once again that she had decided on wearing jeans that evening. Taking a large chocolate chip cookie from one of the plates, the girl bit into it, enjoying the first mouthful as it trailed its way deliciously down her throat. After Alys had swallowed she said "well, I know Lehrer Vikki wouldn't mind, she's cool like that."
Leaning against the wall, the witch pointed to the jug of pumpkin juice too far for her to reach, indicating for him to either pass it along or pour her a glass.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
Tarragon raised his eyebrow at Alys.
"You're the servant!" He mused, before flicking his wand at the jug to make it pour them both a glass of pumpkin juice. He concentrated hard as he levitated her cup towards her and taking his own. His spells were getting better he noted.
"I suppose not, I'm more worried about The Sweeney to be honest. Especially seeing as we ARE down in the dungeons!" He shuddered as he spoke, the Lehrer did scare him.
He reached over for an apple and took a big bite out of it.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
Alys herself was no fan of The Sweeney and could understand the boy perfectly. She took a gulp of her juice before responding. "Well, even she wouldn't kill the students for some food..." But Alys wasn't certain about anything when it came to The Sweeney.
"I heard some older students saying that The Sweeney would be teaching extra classes next week," she said cautiously around a bite of cookie. "I'm wondering if I can get Medic Lange to excuse me from said classes..."

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
Tarragon stopped mid bite of his apple.
"She's taking more classes?" He said with a mouth full of apple, before swallowing. "Please tell me you are joking!"
He banged his head against the wall behind him. He didn't want to meet The Sweeney anywhere but in his potions class, the news made him feel sick.
"I sincerely hope that I don't have to put up with that! And I'm sure Medic Lange wouldn't do that, I am sure many students have probably tried the same trick! Chicken?" He asked passing her the other plate of food.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
"Thanks,"Alys replied taking the proffered chicken. The witch bit into it and chewed as she considered the answer.
"Well, I saw a group of Verstand and Risiko students talking about her subbing in Herbology and Soothsaying. Apparently she cut one of the fourth years. From what I could make out, the student fainted at the sight of himself bleeding, not from the wound itself. Our own Zachs was there and he just scoffed, saying we Muhes were used to drawing blood. But the others seemed pretty unsure."
The witch herself did not take Soothsaying but she did sign up for Herbology. As she ate some more, the blonde wondered what The Sweeney would do if the girl just didn't show up for class.

Tarragon listened to Alys explanation and nodded. The elf had reappeared with more food. Cupcakes, nuts, chocolate frogs, and many other wizarding sweets. Tarragon was amazed at the elf's work.
"Wow." Tarragon said, "Thank you, Elf!"
And with that he took a great big handful of the sweets and began unwrapping them.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
All thoughts of The Sweeney flew from her mind as the heaping plates of sweets arrived. Grinning cheekily, the witch reached for a chocolate cauldron and popped it into her mouth whole. The witch swallowed the confection, feeling happier with every bite. She hadn't had a good chocolate rush in a long time.
"Yes, thanks very much," she said after Tarragon was done speaking to the elf. "We're sorry to trouble you, though."

"Oh Alys, this is their job, they love it, you needn't apologise!" Tarragon said with a smile. He noted the grapes in front of him and grabbed the bunch. Picking off one grape he held it in front of Alys.
"Would the fine lady care for a grape?" He said in a mock posh voice before laughing.

The witch wrinkled her nose at the fruit the boy held up in front of her. It had to be the one type of fruit she didn't care for, at all.
"No thank you," she said, making a face. "You can have the grapes all for yourself, I would much rather prefer chocolate." With that, the witch reached for another chocolate cauldron, this time nibbling it slowly and enjoying the feel of it melting on her tongue.
The house elf on its part did seem happy like Tarragon said, but as her Mama always said, manners were manners no matter where you went and whom you spoke to.

Re: Not attempting to steal food! Why would you think that?!
Tarragon frowned as Alys told him she didn't like grapes. Grapes were so much nicer than chocolate he thought, before popping a grape in his mouth.
"You know they're much better for you though, and how can you not like them? It's food and drink in one! Does this mean you don't like wine?" He asked, he looked round the plates of food some more, looking for something else to eat. "Ah ha! Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans! You have tried these right?"
Tarragon's face turned some what menacing at picking up the box of sweets. It was always good fun picking a bean at random and watching people's faces as they ate.

"Well, I've never tried wine," the witch repiied easily, finishing off the confection. She knew adults drank it but she had never been allowed, not even a sip. But Annika had admitted to stealing some from her parents' stash and apparently it was not good at all and Alys had never wanted to find out for herself.
"Of course," she said in answer to the beans he held up. "I don't know anyone who doesn't like them. I use to give some even to my Muggle friends but I had to make sure they weren't anything suspicious like dragon pepper or butterbeer."

"Feeding Muggles wizarding treats, oh Alys, you rebel!" He chuckled.
He put his hand in the box pulling out a bean at random. Placing it in his mouth he chewed carefully, before smiling.
"Chocolate bean!" He smiled, offering the box towards Alys. "Your turn!"

Alys grinned, taking the proffered bean from him and inserted it in her mouth with one quick flick of her wrist. Almost immediately, a sweet, sour taste assaulted her mouth and the witch gagged.
"Grape," she choked, attempting to wash the taste out of her mouth with her glass of pumpkin juice.

"Grape,"
Tarragon tried not to laugh as Alys choked on her least favourite bean. He picked out another bean with confidence, and chewed. It would serve him right for being cocky as he had picked out liqourice. He coughed and spluttered, gulping down the remains of his pumpkin juice.
"Liqourice." Tarragon managed to form the words, still gagging from the taste. "Maybe this game wasn't such as good idea," he admitted.

"And that's why chocolate is the best," Alys shot back as Tarragon gulped down his pumpkin juice. Though why the boy didn't like liquorice was anyone's guess. She herself didn't mind it.
"I'm full," she said, rubbing her tummy and letting out a huge yawn. "And sleepy," she added, laughing. It had been a long day, even if most of it had been fun. "Shall we head back to Muhe before Prof M sends a platoon of prefects to escort us back?"
