Aquila has just recently found out from her mother that she had a half-sister named Pyxis, who she saw in the tournament between the two schools Hogwarts and Durmstrang, but Pyxis is now dead. She mourns for the loss of a sister she never knew.

She was also born with a magical cancer that is very, very rare and is near impossible to cure. It is situated in the brain and often makes it difficult for the person who suffers from it to perform simple things, like blinking, breathing, talking and walking. There are many other problems associated with it, such as the sufferer is not meant to have a long lifespan, and they often experience chest pains - so much so that they can become accustomed to the small pain and not really notice it.
