Lesson Three (First Years) Empty Lesson Three (First Years)

Oh now it was time to teach them what he really enjoyed. Viktor grinned as he sat behind his desk, steepling his fingers in front of him as he grinned wickedly. It was his favourite period of history. It had everything! It had the german people killing the French, the Russians, the British and the American! What more could you want?

After their rather brief lecture on war last time, Alys had gone back and actually looked up wars so as not to sound stupid the next time she was asked a question. She had looked up Muggle wars as well as magical ones and paid special attention to the ones that involved Germany. It had meant no sleep for the night but at the time, the witch was wiling to sacrifice that.

Interring the classroom, for once ready for whatever the Lehrer threw at her, the witch didn't head to the back but took a seat towards the front.

Viktor grinned a little bit as his class filed into the classroom obediantly. He cracked his knuckles happily and rolled his head to loosen his muscles before standing in front of the board. He pointed to the topic,

"The War of Grindelwald." he declared slowly, as if savouring the way the words tasted, "Who can tell me... what countries were involved in this war?"

"Most of Europe actually," Alys replied confidentially. "Scandinavia as it was rumored to be his birthplace. Here because he attended Durmstrang, Germany where he was in particular power, France which the war affected badly on both wizards and Muggles alike as it was the same time a Muggle war was also going on. Basically Grindelwald rose to power and went on to spread his influence all over Europe. He never did try to extend his reign to the UK though."

Viktor raised an eyebrow as one of his students answered his question with the utmost confidence. It was, he supposed, quite a good answer. It lacked a few things, which he was going to tell her now,

"A very good answer, five house points." he replied before rubbing his hands together, "The reason he did not expand his rule to Britain was because of his fear of one Albus Dumbledore, the man who eventually defeated him. Now..."

He waved his wand and a map of europe appeared. He pointed to russia,

"Who can have a guess as to why Grindelwald was unsuccessful in his attempts to defeat Russia?"
