The Howler Empty The Howler

Salina made her way up the stairs into the Girls Dorm in a good mood, a cheerful smile on her face as she pushed open the door and entered. She quickly shut the door beside her and went over to her bed to have a seat. She'd had a good day, doing well in all of her lessons and having fun with Leshia.

Leshia was like a sister to her now, a better sister than Corinne had ever been. Don't get Salina wrong, she loved her twin more than anything else in the world, but Corinne was a rude, snobby little git sometimes and Salina couldn't stand to be around her when she was in that sort of mood.

Salina took a seat on the edge of her bed, reaching in to her trunk to pull out her scrapbook. Salina moved over to the bedside table and leant her drawing things on there. She sketched lightly a moon hanging in the sky, with small stars dotted across the expanse of sky. A tree was drawn on one side, and a field of flowers and 3 winged horses grazing followed shortly after.

Salina sat back to admire her handy-work, touching up a few strokes here and there before she smiled brightly. It was the best she'd ever drawn, and she was ever so proud of her work. Salina focused on drawing gentle details on the horses, making them look as life like as possible. She drew on little strokes that appeared to be the lines of the horses hair, and made the wings appear to be made of simple feathers.

Leshia has somewhat been in a good mood today until she ran into her sister. Leshia swore since coming here she had gotten more mean and rude.

The stunt she pulled at dinner just becasue I looked nice I thought that had taken the cake. But then when they read it each others minds that was really weird. In all their years nothing like that had ever happened.

Then after dinner she had to sit through astronomy with her. God it just seemed like she could not get away from her. Leshia practically stormed into the dorm room she was so mad at Tabi. She didn't think that Salina would already be there.

Salina was the one person that she held in very close relationship to being a sister. She wished her sister and her had that kind of relationship. That was the way twins were suppose to be

Leshia stormed in the door swing it to a slam into the wall and then walked over to her bed and threw her book bag on the bed..."Grrr I just hate her sometimes.."

That was when Leshia noticed that Salina sitting and working on a drawing. "Sorry I did not mean to distrub you. I didn't realize you were in her."

Salina looked up when Leshia entered, and heard her complaining about someone. Most likely her twin. She opened her mouth to ask what was bothering her, when there was a tapping on the windw and Salina turned her head to see her Maman's owl tapping on the window with its beak.

Salina hurried over to the window and threw it open, allowing the owl to swoop in. She took the letter off of it's leg which was stuck out, before it nipped her sharply and flew away. She shut the window behind it and went back to perch on her bed, not looking at the Howler in her hand. She perched on her bed and smiled at Leshia.

"You alright? What is it?" Salina was reffering to her muttering about something when she entered, before she idly pulled open the Howler without looking at it, so you can imagine her surprise when it flew up in front of her face and began seething. "Oh, zut!" Salina exclaimed, recoiling from the Howler, fear apparent on her face.

She should not have expected any better, especially after she told her Maman she was a fool for her beliefs, and that she was in Ravenclaw. "Zut, zut, zut!" Salina took in a steadying breath, bracing herself for the shouting that was about to occur.

Her Maman's shrill voice rang through the dorm in a loud shriek as she expressed her outrage.

Salina gasped at the last part, Do not bother coming home for the holidays, you've been disowned. She thought that in her mind, and began to sob. Her Maman had shouted slow enough that Leshia might've been able to understand a bit of it. She curled into a ball as the Howler shredded itself up, and she laid on her bed, tears streaming down her face.

"Maman, she 'as disowned me! Me!" Salina wailed, her hands covering her face. "I 'ave no 'ome! I 'ave no family!" Salina continued to sob.

Leshia was wrapped up in her own problems until Salina recieved her howler. She could not believe the howler that she had recieved.

How could her mom think that she had shamed the family just because she was placed in Ravenclaw. She had a feeling that whenever her letter would arrive it would be along the same lines. She would hope that her mother would not be as harsh, but then my dad had her wrapped around his finger and she jumped at his every whim.

The the final straw to Leshia came when she was disowned by her own family.

Leshia ran over and just flung her arms around Salina.

"You do not ever have to worry about not have a family, if know one else cares, I do. If my family doesn't dis-owned me, you can come to my house."

Leshia keep trying to tell her it would be alright while she sat next to her and stroked her hair.

Salina felt Leshia's arms around her body and she curled into her best friend, wrapping her arms around Leshia in turn as she buried her face in the girls shoulder. She felt weak and lost, like the world had lost hope.

That was, until Leshia offered her a place at her own manor if she didn't get disowned as well. "Really?" Salina sniffled, wiping tears away. "You'd let me stay with you?" Salina was shocked. No one would ever have done that for her at Beauxbatons, or in France in general.

"Why would you do zat for me?" Salina asked weakly, staring at Leshia with sad and lost eyes. She felt so upset that her own Maman would disown her. She wasn't a Girard anymore, and she loved being Salina Girard. Salina felt a small smile on her face at another thought. "I will 'ave to be Salina Girard- Prewett now," she said softly.

She could feel Leshia's hand stroking her hair as she comforted her and she buried her face back into Leshia's shoulder as she tried not to cry. Finally, she regained her composure and looked up at Leshia. "I thought you were going to ze library, why are you back so soon?" Salina asked, wanting to know what was bothering her best friend.

Leshia just smiled at Salina when she made the comment about the name change and that she was surprised that Leshia would let her stay at her house.

"Of course you can stay with me anytime you want." Leshia said continuing to stroke her hair.

Then Salina wanted to know why she had not gone to the library like she said she was going to.

Leshia stood up and started pacing the room

"Well thanks to my lovely sister I have been kicked out of the library for the night. She stopped me because she wanted to know what had happened to us during dinner.." Leshia stopped at that because Leshia never got to finish telling Salina what had happened at dinner.

"Tonight at dinner when I asked about twins doing special things it was because Tabi and I passed thoughts to each other.." Leshia spat out real fast to finish her story.

"Anyway when I tried to leave she grabbed me and then I threaten her with my wand. Just like I always did at home, not thinking about where I was. It worked of course she let go, then she tried to be all nice. She just drives me crazy."

Leshia plopped back down on the bed. "That's when the new librarian walked up to us to break up the fight and told me to leave. But what I thought was funny was Tabi was getting the lecture and not me. Well she deserves it."

After that thought suddenly an elf popped into the room. "Excuse me, Slinky here with a message for Miss Prewett."

"I am Miss Prewett" Leshia said and then the elf handed her the message and Leshia opened it.

"Miss Leshia Prewett,
I am asking you what happened to cause the dispute I witnessed in the library. You threatened your twin sister, and were raising your voice in my library. If I hadn't stepped in when I did it could have turned physically violent. As a Ravenclaw I would have expected more common sense out of you. But, we all make mistakes, and what I want this mistake to accomplish is that you learn from it. Experience is the best teacher. I kept your sister for a lecture so it is only fair I lecture you as well. As that girl's twin, I realize that she must drive you batty at times. However, to threaten your own sister is something I have zero tolerance for. That is all I have to say on the matter. You are intelligent enough to realize the point I am trying to make. I expect you to not fight with your sister in my library again.
Also, I will write a short note informing your head of house what occurred. I will not give either of you detention and I do not have the authority to deduct points for your conduct. but your head of house can and might, I leave it to both the slytherin and ravenclaw's heads of houses to decide if there will be a punishment or deduction of points. Hope to see you at the special event tomorrow! Remember, my door is always open to students who wish to talk. As are the library's to students who wish to learn.

In all seriousness,
Librarian Sollmann "

"Oh this is just great, instead of getting the lecture in person I get it in a note. Here you want to read it." Leshia handed the note to Salina.

"Great Ms. Chi is going to have my head when she gets the message."

Salina rolled her eyes at Tabi's antics. "'onestly, i've told Pxyis all about 'er, and Pxyis said zat she was saying you're a back stabber. But don't worry, Pxyis stood up for you and 'ad a go at 'er for being so nasty. That seester of yours, she is evil," Salina frowned.

When the house elf arrived, Salina stared and watched as Leshia read the letter, groaned and handed it to her. Once Salina was finished reading she snorted in laughter. "Don't worry about it, Leshia. A few 'ouse points isn't zat bad, we'd still be beating Gryffindor!" Salina said cheerily, already writing an official letter to the M.O.M to get a name change.

"From now on, I am Salina Girard- Prewett. Well, as soon as ze ministry approves of my name change," Salina giggled. "I shall just call myself Salina Girard- Prewett from now on anyway," Salina said as she attached the letter to her owl and opened the window so it could fly off with her letter.

Listening to Salina talk about Pxyis she was glad that someone in Slytherin had her back.

"Well hopefully between her and us we can keep my sister's claws out of the Parker kids. She does not know he is a muggleborn and I hope to keep it that way. It seems like she got here and in a week she has totally become a Slytherin." Leshia sighed "She is even worse than at home.

Leshia could not believe that Salina wanted to change her name, not that she had a problem with it.

"Before you rush off to change your name don't you think we better wait and make sure I am not disowned too. I really do not think my mother would do it. She could just put us up in a wing away from my father."

"I think what I am going to do is write my mother a letter and talk to her, but I am getting tired and think I need to go to bed. So I will write to her first thing in the morning."
