Lesson Four Empty Lesson Four

Post by Viktoria Steinburg Mon Jan 23, 2012 7:57 pm

Viktoria, despite really not wanting to be here, had decided that she would heed the Doctor's advice and would take on this one last lesson and see how it went, she knew that during the lesson the Doctor would appear and that would hopefully make things better.

Waiting she took out the brooms and stood in the middle of the field, looking, unusually grumpy, and she knew that it would only get worse when she actually had to teach, she had become listless and not really bothered in the course of a few days, hopefully she would break out of this now.

Lesson Four Empty Re: Lesson Four

Post by Guest Tue Jan 24, 2012 1:01 am

Tarragon made his way down to the Quidditch fields miles ahead of the rest of the class. He had to prove to Lehrer Steinburg that everything had been a misunderstanding and he was eager to learn from her no matter what. His broom slung over his shoulder he made his way to the middle of the field where she stood. He smiled over to her.

"Morning Lehrer Steinburg." He paused. "Having a good day?"

He hoped he wasn't over doing things, but he didn't have a problem with his Lehrer and he hoped she didn't have a problem with him either.

Alys made er way to the last class of the year, her stomach still queasy over the potion she had drunk Earle to sooth it. She hoped the medication would kick in soon as there was no way she was going to be able to fly when she felt like throwing up all over the pitch. Tarragon, as usual, was there. Alys took her place silently next to him and waited for their other friends to show up.

The Doctor walked out onto the Quidditch pitch with a slight spring in his step. He was carrying a broom with him. Nothing fancy of course, just a piece of wood he'd worked runes into so that it was a broom. Exactly what the broom-makers did except he did it on a much, much, smaller scale than they did. He mounted his custom broom and glided silently over to Viktoria, hovering close by her side. Leaning in, he whispered so the class couldn't hear him,

"Hey Vikki..." he smiled faintly, "I've got your back. For once, I'm your assistant."

Terrence had decided to take Tarragon's advice and sign up for flying lessons. Of course it was only one lesson, but then next year he would have more.

He walked out onto the pitch and saw the teacher standing there with a few brooms so he was glad he did not have to have his own broom.

Once again he saw his friends Tarragon and Alys there, he was really glad that they were in most of his classes. Granted you really could not talk during class but it was reassuring to him that they were there.

Terry walked up to them. "Hay Tarragon I took you advise and signed up."

Zara was excited for the Flying Lessons to begin. She loved flying and the feeling that came from being up on a broom and having the wind blow through her hair. Though it'd only been last summer, it felt like it had been a lifetime since she had last flown.

The red head spotted Terry's back on the way to the Quiddich pitch and started jogging only to catch up after he'd already reached their friends.

"Hey, Guys!"

Viktoria was glad that the Doctor was here, she even felt a little bit happier at having him next to her, it made her feel stronger and she even managed a smile, she gestured to the rack of brooms and looked at the two new students in her class.

"Happy lesson four everybody, since you guys didn't really go in for this in lesson two, we're going to do it now."

Grinning Viktoria pointed to each student in turn:

"Alys and Terrence, Tarragon and Zara. These are the pairs that you will be racing in, the first race is between Alys and Terrence, you may now begin, the course is two laps of the Quidditch pitch then back here."

Waving her arm to act as a signal Viktoria smiled: "Go."

When Alys heard the word "race" she was sure she would lose. After all, she was an average flyer at best and both Tarragon and Zara could fly circles around her any day. But perhaps the Lehrer knew that because she paired Alys up with Terry who had never flown at all. Alys hoped the boy had at least read up a little on brooms to know how to get started.

Taking her position, the witch signaled a 'good luck' and 'sorry' to Terry before readying her hand on the broom handle.

"Go."

The girl shot off at the instructor's signal, making sure to keep her broom low and even. No one had said you had to fly more than ten feet off the ground and Alys felt more comfortable with low level flying anyway. Her golden ponytail flying behind her, the witch completed the two laps before returning to the original position. She had been so focused on keeping her broom steady that she hadn't eve noticed what Terry was doing with his.

Terry could not believe what was happening. The Lehrer just told Terry that him and Alys had to race and then Tarragon and Zara. Oh great he thought, not once had he ever been on a broom before and now he had to race.

He looked over to Alys and she gave him this good luck smile.

Terry had gotten a book about flying along with the other books he got out of the library and he hoped that it would help.

He mounted the broom he was given and kicked off of the ground, closed his eyes did a little self mediation. Next thing he knew he heard the word.

"Go"

at that word he leaned forward on the broom and he was off. He was really enjoying the feel of the wind on his face and the feeling of being free. He was never one to shy away from heights and he was glad that he had taken Tarragons advice to take the flying class.

He leaned farther forward on the broom trying to see if that would make it go faster, he wanted to try and keep up with Alys. He felt like it was natural for him to fly.

Once the blonde touched down on the starting point where they had tarted from, she looked over her shoulder to see Terry gaining. He seemed to be doing really well for someone who had never flown before. In another minute, he too had touched down beside her. With just a little bit of practice, he could have beaten her easily, she noted as she stepped off her broom.

Giving him an encouraging smile, she waited for the teacher to speak.

(OOC: Not God modeling, Terry agreed via PM that Alys should win this round. We always play nice. XD)

Zara stood there and watched as Alys landed with Terry soon following. Butterflies danced in her stomach knowing that she was next. It wasn't the race that was making her nervous but who she was racing against. She was a natural flyer and normally won all of the races she'd had with her family but this was Tarragon. She'd never witnessed him fly but she knew, from what Alys had told her, that he was good.

She took a deep breath and prepared herself for the race, waiting on her teachers instruction.

Tarragon put his thumb up to Alys, she'd flown well in her race and he gave her the silent encouragement. Turning to Zara, he smiled before mounting his broom. He knew Zara would be no push over when it came to the race, he had his work cut out.

"Ready?" He asked a cheeky smile playing on his face. He waited for Lehrer Steinburg to give them the word to go. He stepped from foot to foot, ready at a moments notice to push off and give Zara a good race.

Viktoria watched the race with her teacher head on, she was watching to make sure that nobody was hurt and thankfully nobody was, there was a reason after all for the people that they had been put with.

Sighing she nodded her head when they returned, she gave no housepoints, she had already said in her mind that there would be none given out today, Viktoria was often to liberal with the points.

When she saw the other two ready to go she said quietly:

"Begin."

Terry felt good after his first flight on a broom. We was able to pick up a lot of speed, but of course he couldn't catch up with Alys, wait was it he couldn't catch up or didn't really try. I was always proper to let ladies win after all. He thought to himself.

He looked over to Alys "Thanks for taking it easy on me, but boy was it a rush."

He watched as Zara and Tarragon got ready for their race. as Alys told him both of them were very good so he was interested in seeing who would win this.

Terry was really torn on who to cheer for. Tarragon was his best mate, but then Zara was his new interest. It was a very hard decision. So he decided to cheer for both of them.

"Come on Tarragon you got this., Come Zara show him whose boss" Terry just smiled at himself then over to Alys he just shrugged his shoulders as to say what because he knew she would probably give him a look.

"Ready?"

Tarragon had mounted his broom and was just as ready to take off as she was.

"Bring it on," she said, sending a smirk his way. Her confidence was boosted a little seeing him shift from foot to foot, either he was as anxious as she was or he was ready to go.

Professor Steinburg had called for them to begin and she pushed off, leaning forward immediately as she took flight.

Tarragon pushed off fast when Lehrer Steinburg told them to go, he flew past Zara in an instant. He pushed his broom to its limit, the wind hitting his eyes and making his hair fall across his eyes. He quickly flicked his hair out of his line of vision, shooting a quick look over his shoulder to check where Zara was. He dived round the posts pulling his broom round them tightly as not to waste time. Where had Zara gone, he couldn't see her anywhere!

When Tarragon zipped past her, Zara bad no choice but to speed herself up. The wizard wasn't going to take it easy on her and, honestly, she shouldn't have expected him to.

She was flying above him by the time they had reached the first turn and looked down long enough to notice him looking back for her. She laughed and swooped down, coming out in front of him.

"Boo," she said laughing, before taking a slight lead on the boy.

Terry was watching the two of them racing for all that it was worth. He kept watching Tarragon looking behind him as to make sure Zara was still in his rear view. Next thing Terry noticed Zara had moved up to be above him and when he looked back Zara dropped down in front of him.

"Good Shot Zara." Terry yelled.

He had moved over closer to Alys and then nudged him. "That was a pretty good move, I will have to remember that one." he smiled

As Zara came down in front of him, Tarragon pushed forward to catch up with her. As he caught up he pulled his broom into a barrel roll around the girl before spurting off fast ahead of her. He laughed as he sped off, the feeling of spinning upside down on the broom was exhilarating. Let's see how she responds to that, he thought pushing his broom faster along the length of the pitch.

Zara's jaw dropped as Tarragon moved under her and pulled off some kind of flip before speeding off. She was impressed and had to admit, he was good.

She still had a chance of winning, as the boy was only a few feet ahead. Gripping her broom tighter, she took a nosedive into the next turn and whipped herself around the poles, emerging into her second lap right beneath Tarragon. The red head sped forward, faster than she had dared before, since she was closer to the ground.

Zara wasn't going to let up the race at any point soon. Tarragon kept pushing the broom as fast as it would go. He swerved round the posts to finish the first lap and hurried on to get to the next posts. He pulled the broom round the first set of posts and sped off once more, leaving Zara a good distance behind him. Heading for the finishing line at breakneck speed. He reached the second and last posts, weaving inbetween them, before flying straight for the finish line to win. Zara landed just behind him. It had been one close race, but he'd managed to hold her off. He turned round to her, his hand outstretched to congratulate the girl on giving him such a good race.

"Thanks Zara, I have never raced someone that good before! You were amazing!"

(OOC: Not godmodelling, other character said I could win the race. Also running out of time to finish the race before lessons finished.)

When Tarragon beat Zara he couldn't believe it. He just couldn't let the girl win.

Terry walked over to tell them how good they did.

"I really thought you were going to have him there for a minute." He walked up to her.

Then he leaned over and whispered in Tarragon's ear. "Dude you were suppose to let the woman win, at least the first time."

The witch knew that she wasn't going to win when Tarragon pulled ahead of her in the final stretch. She flew as fast as she could to, at least, catch up with him and landed right behind him.

"Thanks Zara, I have never raced someone that good before! You were amazing!"

"Thanks. You were better," she said, smiling as she took his outstretched hand and shook it. "That was a lot of fun. You'll have to teach me that flippy trick sometime, it was impressive."
She really did have a lot of fun. The challenge of racing someone better than her was exhillerating.

Terry walked over to tell them how they did. "I really thought you were going to have him there for a minute."

"Oh well. I'll get him next time."

Terry smiled when Zara said she would get Tarragon the next time.

"I just know I am not ready to take either one of you on, my luck I would be eating a lot of your dust."

Terry was thinking of a lot of the things he was going to be working on during the summer, and flying was high on his list. He was wanting to learn about this game of quidditch because flying made him feel free.
