Lesson One - First Years Empty Lesson One - First Years

Cobalt was in the classroom waiting for his latest students but he had no doubt that not a single one of them would be able to find him. After all, he was the Infiltration Professor for a reason after all. As of right now the room appeared to all to be empty, the blackboard in the centre of the room,

Tessa walked into the classroom, Leshia was the one who told her that she should take this class. Because she had the perfect cover. She then found her a desk and decided to seat down.

She could tell that someone was in the classroom, but she had no idea where. Tessa knew this from years of practice, how to tell if someone was in a room with her.

She smiled to herself knowing that Leshia was right, she could use being blind .

Walking in to the class Corina moved as though she knew how to fight. She had little experience but she was willing to learn more. She moved to her seat and noticed Tessa. "Hey Tessa" She then nodded to the professor and moved towards Tessa and sat by her.

Tessa smiled when she heard Corina. " Hey." She knew that she was in one of her other classes. She was glad that someone was with her that she knew.
Tessa sighed and hoped that Daimen wasn't in this class with her.

Xander made his was to class, wondering what the teacher had in store for them. He recently found out some interesting facts about a family members....allegiances, and wondered if a little infiltration training wouldn't be such a bad thing.

He to a seat near the back, wondering where the teacher could be. No doubt planning a grand entrance once the students arrived. He was probably waiting in his office or something.

Damien walked into this classroom. It was very odd, something did not feel right. Almost reminded him of his basement classroom at home. Looking around the room he noticed Tessa first off, but knew with all these people around he would not go near her so she was safe for now.

He walked over to where Xander was at.

"Hay Xander, this is turning out to be a very interesting class."

Cobalt poked his wand at the back of Damien's head, just where his skull connected to the neck. He smiled cruelly and leant in, still invisible, to the boy's ear,

"You're dead." he said calmly and quietly, "Your brains are splattered across half of the classroom. Your eyes have been crushed into liquid. Your skull has been powdered."

Dropping his invisibility, Cobalt left Damien alone, wandering over to the front of the desk now that he was visible,

"For those of you who noticed I was present this whole time... note that I was invisible." he grinned a little bit, a feral grin, "Tell me... what could I have done to Damien if he wasn't able to detect me? And how does that translate to magical combat?"

Damien almost stood in complete panic when Mr Smith stood behind him with the wand in his neck. Granted this had happened to him many times at home and he should have known but he had been distracted and that was his problem. From now on he knew that when he came into this class he would always be on his guard.

"Thats is all too simple, I would have been dead. I would not have been able to have any combat at all."

Xander was surprised to see the professor appear out of thin air, having been looking in his direction when he took his cloak off. The only thing that was better than that was Damien's reaction.

Xander almost laughed at the other boy. But then figured he would get something even worse from the teacher later, so tried to not react.

He raised his hand to add to Damien's answer. "Or worse. You're enemy could cast Cruciatus, or anything else they desire to do what they will with you. Some things are worse than death."

He'd grown up with these stories, but thankfully had not experienced these things himself.

Cobalt shrugged a little as he sat down on the edge of his desk to better observe his students,

"Both points are valid. I could have killed you." he said to Damien before nodding to Xander, "But I could have tortured you just as easily. Ten points to Slytherin."

He looked over his class with what appeared to be only mild amusement,

"Surprise." he declared firmly, "Is the one reason why Infiltration is seen as a very necessary skill to possess. If you can surprise your enemy you can take them down, even with first year spells."

Yawning a little bit, Cobalt broke the serious image to smile,

"Who could tell I was in the room before I appeared?"

Damien listened to Tessa answer and she was so right. She would have to had learned to use her other senses.

"I could not tell where you were in the room, but I could tell the room felt a little off." Damien knew he didn't know where he was or he would not have gotten him.

Cobalt looked at Tessa intently for a few moments, just taking the time to read her body language. It spoke of a certain amount of uncertainty which was perfectly natural in someone who had lost one of their senses. But overall she was just as confident as the next first year. Which is to say, not very,

"Ah yes..." He smiled a little bit, "Miss Grey. Blind but not defenceless I see. I see no lies in your body language so I am forced to decide you knew I was in the room. Five points to Gryffindor."

He chuckled a little bit and tapped the side of his nose,

"You all could do well to sharpen your other senses." he told the class, "If you lose one, even temporarily, you cannot allow yourself to be caught flat-footed."

Cobalt nodded at Damien,

"Good." he said shortly, "That is how perception starts. As a feeling."

Clapping his hands, Cobalt looked out over the class,

"Since Miss Grey has so kindly shown that your other senses are just as useful as sight..." he paused, "Tell me which senses you can use to find someone who is invisible."

Damien thought about it for a moment.

"One of the senses that I can think of would be smell. Every person has a smell to them. Especially if they are wearing cologne, or perfume."

There was a guy that worked with his father and he always knew that he was in the house because it had this god awful smell.

Xander raised his hand. "Sound could be a key factor. You would obviously want to hear for giveaways, but sometimes the absence of sound is a sign that something is off. That's more useful in the wild though."

Xander's family manor was surrounded by woods that he would often play in by himself. Most of the time it was bustling with sound, but only if he was quiet. When he started making too much noise it was like the forest had stopped to listen for him. Maybe it would be the same with invisible people, like the natural world could sense them.
