Second Year: Review of what you know
It was his first time being a professor. He would have liked to have gone to Durmstrang, so he could have been closer to Gabriela, but he knew that the Headmistress needed him here. These children needed his knowledge. Ane he would do whatever he could to help them.
But to do that, Gaspard needed to know where these little rascals where in Occlumency.
If they couldn't even empty their emotions, then it was best if they returned to first year Occlumency. You had to empty all the emotions you felt so you could block the intruder. That was the only way. It was the Durmstrang way. And for Gaspard it was the best way. After all people didn't like changing what the knew, especially if they were taught the way he was taught.
So if Gaspard was the best Occlumens then he could teach this little kids to be the best.
Looking around the empty classroom, he smirked at seeing it with no desks and chairs. This was the best way to learn, not to be distracted, and to keep focus on blocking. Looking at his watch, it was almost time for his class to start. Walking slowly he stopped at the corner of the room, where it was dark, the shadows hide him. Making it look that the classroom was alone.

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
Keiba whisked into the classroom, only to stop abruptly when she saw no desks, no chairs, and more importantly... no teacher. Am I in the wrong room? she thought. She pursed her lips and scratched her head, before pulling out her wand and chucking her bag aside.
"Hello?" she called out, wondering if this was some kind of test from the new professor. "Is anybody here, or do I have the wrong classroom?"

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
Gaspard stared at the second year, by seeing the blue, he figured she was a Ravenclaw. A smile was brought to his face-Gabriela was a Ravenclaw.
Shaking his head, he said in calm voice, "If you are here to take Occlumency, then you have the right classroom. If not, I suggest you leave."
Gaspard still stood at the corner. Not walking out of the shadows.

A voice came out of the shadows. "If you are here to take Occlumency, then you have the right classroom. If not, I suggest you leave."
Keiba sighed and lowered her wand. "Good. I've got the right classroom." Glancing around, she tried to see who the voice belonged to. A flickering movement in a corner that was shrouded in darkness caught her eye. Confusion flickered across her face. "Professor, why are you hiding?"

Gaspard chuckled at seeing Miss. Namid lowering her wand. Hogwarts was safe, it was ridiculous to have a wand drawn ready to attack. "No Miss. Namid, I am not hiding, I am thinking." At this he walked away from the shadows and stopped in front of the room. With a tight smile he nodded at his student.

"Oh. Fair enough," she agreed, sometimes dark places opened the mind to eager thoughts. "What about?"
Her new professor stepped into the light where she could see him. She smiled back. No one else was here yet. "Am I the only one who signed up for Occlumency this year?" she asked, trying to remember if Leshia or Salina or Mace had put their names down too. "Where is everyone?"

His smile stayed while he answered, "That is me to only know, Miss. Namid."
He frowned a little, her mind was somehow not blocking him, all her thoughts were coming to him in full force. Maybe she was distracted at being the only one? He hoped so, he really didn't want to put second years back in first year Occlumency. "No, you are not the only one who signed up, and about your friends, I don't recall seeing those names in my list, Miss. Namid."
He cleared his throat, "Everyone else is either late, making their way here or not coming to class. But don't fret Miss. Namid, if no one comes, I will still continue my class, if you want to learn how to be the best Occlumens then I recommend that you stay."

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
She blinked. Was he using Occlumency on her right now? How else did he know that she was thinking about her fellow Ravenclaws? She shrugged internally, deciding this must be so.
"Oh, and just so you know, Professor, I wasn't really here for Occlumency last year. I might be a bit behind." Keiba was worried that she might be too far behind, after all, she'd never actually had an Occlumency lesson before.

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
He could clearly see what she was thinking, and sighing he answered, "Yes Miss. Namid, I am using Occlumency on you, I hope you don't mind."
Gaspard smiled tightly, "It seems you are going to be the only one here, as five minutes have passed that class started. I will not let the ones that are late enter. And this is the best way to learn, Miss. Namid. You wont get distracted. If you pay attention and listen to what I have to say, I'm sure you will learn what a second year already knows. Are you ready to begin?"

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
The thought crossed her mind that it was slightly rude to 'read' thoughts without the thinker's permission... but really, this was Occlumency. You were supposed to do that.
She listened to the professor and fully agreed. "Yes, sir!" she said, a smile creeping into her voice. "Let's get started then." Excitement was starting to wake in her and she was starting to get jittery in anticipation.

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
Gaspard ignored her train of thought of being "rude". He had been told worse.
"The most basic form of Occlumency, Miss. Namid is involving clearing one's mind-making it blank and empty — in order to prevent a Legilimens from perceiving one's emotions and thoughts. This is something a first year is taught. I will teach you the basic for now."
He continued to tell her, now walking to her, "It requires a great deal of will power, as with resisting the Imperius Curse, as well as a high degree of mental and emotional discipline. It is also one method of resisting the influence of Veritaserum."
He stopped a few steps from her, "Now you will practice on emptying your mind."

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
Keiba listened intently to what her teacher was telling her. She really wanted to well in this subject, and she knew if set herself up to do well... she would.
So, she closed her eyes briefly, and when she opened them, fell into a zombie like trance. Acting classes from when she was younger obviously helped with that. She focus all her efforts on not thinking, strange as it sounded. Her eyes became dull and lost their light and she didn't seem to think about anything except what she was seeing and hearing. Keiba felt so weird; she'd never done it to this extent before. She felt quite... mindless.

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
Gaspard's mouth was in a straight line. Face impassive. As if his mind had hands, it reached for Miss. Namid's thoughts, but he didn't see anything, it was empty, until a small train of thought hit him.
Weird and Mindless.
"Miss. Namid, when blocking, you should try to block trains of thoughts. It unwise to think how you feel, especially if you are in danger..."
He walked around his student, "Try again."

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
She shook her head out of her trance. "Sorry Professor."
Once again, she closed her eyes and when she opened them, became similar to that of a zombie - mindless. She took in nothing but what she was surrounded by. No thoughts crossed her mind. She stared slowly around the room, calm, blinking occasionally. Always holding her focus and pushing her energy into having no thoughts.

"Sorry Professor."
Gaspard nodded, and he waved his hand, signaling her to continue.
Again he looked inside, and saw nothing, but he saw that she was calm.
"Being calm is not bad, Miss. Namid, it will help you confuse your enemy if you are ever in danger. That is a very excellent tool." He told her, he stood in from of her again. "But let's see if you feeling nothing-not even being calm."

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
She listened to Professor Gaspard, took it in. Once again she closed her eyes but didn't break her chance. Suddenly she felt numb, like she was dispatched from even her heart. Opening her eyes, there was certainly no depth behind them. Her breathing was even. Keiba couldn't feel anything emotion-wise.

He smirked at "hearing" his name.
Again he looked inside and he felt nothing coming from Miss. Namid. Five minutes passed and she was emotionless. Gaspard walked around the room now. "Excellent Miss. Namid. I'm quite impressed at your fast pace. You knew to empty your emotion in twenty minutes, when a first year takes five classes if they're lucky. Ten points for Ravenclaw."
Gaspard stopped in front of her now, "You have mastered on emptying your emotions, by me doing wandless Legilimens, how about we start with a wand."
He didn't wait for an answer, his wand was out in a flash, "Legilimens."

"Legilimens."
Keiba wasn't ready and was taken aback at how quickly the Professor started sifting through her memories - running into Mace at the ice cream place in Diagon Alley... bushwalking with her family... watching the sun set from her window at home... the day she received her Hogwarts letter...
She gasped. Blinking, she tried to empty her mind and push him out. It took a lot of effort and it was really starting to hurt. Eventually she managed to get back into the empty state of mind, but the damage had already been done. She couldn't fully bring herself back into what she had before, instead calmed herself and tried to focus on leaving her head like an empty room that echoed her surroundings.

Gaspard saw all her memories.
"Very well. Three minutes for you to block me again. Miss. Namid you need to be on your toes. Expect the unexpected. Be prepared."
Again he didn't even tell his student, "Legilimens."

This time she was more prepared for the attack. She kept numb and empty the entire time. Her blank eyes looked up at the Professor as he tried to invade her mind. Keiba watched him with a monotonous, almost bored appearance.

"I'm impressed Miss. Namid. Another ten points to Ravenclaw. How about we practice some more. Try to be empty for at least-ten minutes."

Keiba heard what he said, but she hadn't broken out of the trance from before. It seemed the longer she held it the stronger and more empty it got. Once again he broke into her mind, but there was nothing to see. Time seemed irrelevant and the zombie-trance just took over. It was second nature now.

Gaspard nodded, "Another ten points to Ravenclaw."
"Miss. Namid, I'm afraid class has ended. You are quite lucky that the rest of your classmates didn't show up. You might have not learned as fast as you did. You may leave. The only homework for now, is to practice, just because you were able to block me now, doesn't mean you can later on."
He walked to the classroom door and opened it for her, "When you see the rest of your classmates, do tell them to see me at my office. Good day Miss. Namid."

Keiba broke out of her chance and thoughts flooded back to her. There were so many that it started throbbing in a headache and she had to blink a few times to be able to see. What a weird experience.
"Okay, Professor. See you later!" She smiled and slung her bag over her shoulder and left the classroom, enjoying the feeling of thinking again.

Re: Second Year: Review of what you know
Victoria felt like such an idiot. She hadn't taken this class last year and was hoping to become more prepared for another attack if it ever came. She had taken up dueling and infiltration classes to help, but was really interested in what this class could provide.
She had been wandering around the corridors for, who knew how long, looking for the class. She had actually passed right by the door, but hadn't thought to look in. She hadn't thought about going in until she saw Keiba leaving.
Victoria decided to brave the possible detention, and entered the classroom. The teacher looked generally pleased. Maybe at Keiba's work. This didn't seem like a great thing for the very late Victoria.
"I'm really sorry I missed class, Professor. There is no excuse for such tardiness. I was wondering if it is still possible to take this class."
