First Lesson- First Years Empty First Lesson- First Years

Post by Guest Fri Feb 17, 2012 10:41 am

This was the first time that Angelus had ever taught. He had spent many years doing this and that and then decided when a position came open he would come and teach here. He was also excited that he was also going to be the Head of Ravenclaw. He loved that house when he attended school all those many years ago.

Walking into his classroom for the first time he looked around and noticed how dusty and dirty it was. It was funny that back when he was in school Professor Binns was still the teacher. He was pretty sure that the students would find his lessons more interesting.

Angelus was not sure what the last teacher had taught so he thought he would start at the beginning and teach them the same thing at first. He needed to know what they found interesting.

After he made sure that everything was in order he sat and waited for his students to arrive.

Xander was dreading this class. His father had mentioned old Professor Binns, who had been old when HE was in school. Xander couldn't imagine how boring he would be by now.

As he entered the classroom, he saw a much younger man at the head of the room. Maybe this wouldn't be too bad.

He choose a desk near the back, nodding to the teacher. "Morning."

Tessa manged to find the classroom, and what was more importantly she didn't trip or run into any walls.

She then found a desk in the back of the room and sat down.

Angelus noticed that he had two students in the classroom and wondered if there would be any more but he decided he would go ahead and start the class.

"I am Professor Moody, and welcome to History of Magic. Can anyone tell me the one thing that comes to their mind when we say History of Magic?"

Tessa rasied her hand. " The second wizarding war."

That was a simple answer he thought but not quite worthy of points.

"Can you explain a little more about the war?"

He walked around his desk to look at the rooster and looking back at the girl this must be the Tessa Grey that everyone has been talking about.

Tessa sat there thinking for a couple of seconds. She was trying to rememeber everything that she heard about the war.

" I know Voldermont was the one who started it, and his followers were deatheaters."

She knew that she didn't pay much attention, and now wished she would have.

"You are correct, Ms. Grey. 10 points to Gryffindor." Angelus stated

"In fact there was problems with Voldemort two different times. Can anyone tell me why that was? Xander why don't you give it a try."

Xander had grown up with the stories of both wars. Sadly, they were like his bedtime stories. When he was finally able to read, he took it into his own hands to find out what really happened, in stead of his parents biased opinions. They had been Voldomort sympathizers during the second war, and their parents before them.

Having been asked to answer, he opted not to raise his hand. "Are we speaking strictly within the years leading up to the second war, Professor? Or the first war as well?"

Angelus looked at Mr. Clarke.

"Why don't you explain a little about both. That will give us a little more information."

Angelus was surprised that the kid had even asked for specifics, most kids would have just spouted out some information.

Xander took a breath and prepared himself. "The first wizarding war, in England at least, started when Tom Riddle, aka Lord Voldomort decided he wanted to create a wizarding world that didn't include anyone with muggle blood. As Tessa said, his direct followers were called deatheaters, though many more supported him." He thought about his parents, but decided to leave them out of it.

"After he was defeated by a deflected curse intended for Harry Potter, he stayed dormant for the next decade. Many thought he had died but he was able to live on through the creation of horcrux's. He tried many ways to get back to a real life and finally succeeded four years later, at a tri-wizard tournament. After the wizarding world finally accepted that he had returned, they all began taking sides again, and thus, the second wizarding war."

After it all he felt a little stupid. He probably sounded like a text book, but it was simply regurgitated information drilled into him from childhood. He hoped the teacher didn't think he was a prat for rattling on.

Tessa sat there quietly, as if she was trying to memorize it word for word. But she was used to do this in all of her classes.

Angelus listened to Mr. Clarke discuss the wars and he was doing an excellent job.

"The was a perfect explanation. 15 points to Slytherin. Now Ms. Grey, do you have anything you would like to add to what Mr. Clarke said?"

Angelus waited for Ms. Grey's answers then looked at the time the lesson was almost over.

Tessa smiled, she knew she wasn't the best at history.

" No I don't have anything else to add."

Seeing that everything had been said he would go ahead a dismiss the class for the day.

"I am not going to assign any homework tonight, but I would like you to think about the war and any ideas you might have on how things could have been different."

Angelus pointed his wand at the door and it opened.

"Class Dismissed"

Points total

20 Slytherin

15 Gryffindor
