Lesson Two- First Years Empty Lesson Two- First Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Tue Feb 28, 2012 2:14 am

Raven walked into the classroom and clambered up the rough wall to sit on top of the wardrobe that she had gotten over the break, it was large, wooden and heavy and she thought that she would use it for detentions so that she wouldn't have to actually talk to the children next time she had to give one out for something.

Propping the door open with a recently deceased skull, Raven waited patiently for the students to arrive, wondering what they would be like today, and e et anxious for the return of the Risiko student that she had been interested by so much.

Lesson Two- First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two- First Years

Post by Yeva Sergeiovna Glazgova Tue Feb 28, 2012 2:04 pm

Yeva walked tentatively down the hall towards her fist class. Her heart was pounding, she had no idea what to expect. Rounding a corner she stopped, dead in her tracks. There, holding the door slightly ajar was a skull, a human skull. The light headed tingle of adrenaline seeped into her blood. She stared at the skull; it was that fresh, slightly yellow color she knew from the farm when her brother Dmitry worked the slaughter house. Her stomach churned as she shifted her weight from one foot to another, the bad leg wobbling, as she tried to decide what to do. She was trembling, making up her mind she turned back and hurried away the direction she’d come. Passing through two more corridors she paused, tears in her eyes.

Here she was, alone, a thing she’d never been before, in place she’d never been before, expected to do things she’d never done before. She was terrified, utterly and completely. The skull, she, to her own regret, thought about who they might have been in life. Leaning against a wall she had herself a cry. Her family was so proud of her, and expected much. She loved her family and did not want to disappoint them. This and only this was what made her walk down those long halls which seemed to stretch forever once more, and trembling terribly creak open the door. Eyes red she avoided all thought of the dead at her heel.

Lesson Two- First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two- First Years

Post by Annika Bauermeister Tue Feb 28, 2012 6:06 pm

This class was one of the one I looked forward to the most. My father was a great potion maker and even my mom was able to do healing potions and had used them on me whenever I got sick. I just knew I would be great and had all the confidence in the world. I walked in the door and looked down at the skull holding open the door and whispered 'Alas, Poor Yorik I knew him well," and started to giggle to myself. I heard a gasp and looked up to see my table partner staring at me in horror.
"Did you really know that person? How could you just act so normal when a friend is holding the door open with just his head?"
"It's a skull," I corrected her and took the seat next to her. "Anyway, no, I didn't know him. I was replaying a quote from Hamlet. That's a play written by one of the greatest wizard playwrite in history William Shakespear. By the way, my name is Annika Bauermeister."
"I thought so I saw your name in the chart when I walked in."

Lesson Two- First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two- First Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Thu Mar 01, 2012 8:21 pm

Raven raised her eyebrow when the two students in her classroom today were students that she had not taught before, Durmstrang really enjoyed sending her fragmented classes this year.

Standing up, Raven made her way over to the two girls, one of which looked like she had been crying and this made Raven smirk all the more, how weak.

"Good morning Students. My name is The Sweeney and you will address me as such are we clear?" she asked, in a low voice.

Sitting now on the desk in front of both students, Raven took out a Friend from her pocket and flicked the blade of the razor out and in in a calming manner.

"Today we are going to be looking at posions, can anyone name me a poison? There are some shiney housepoints in it for you."

Lesson Two- First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two- First Years

Post by Yeva Sergeiovna Glazgova Fri Mar 02, 2012 1:30 am

Yeva sat petrified, but nodded when heard instruction as to her teacher's name. Flinching a bit when she saw the knife her heart raced as she tried to chase thoughts of the farm's slaughter house away. She'd stumbled into it once, and what she saw there she hoped she'd never have to see again. She closed her eyes trying to push those memories far away, the blood, the skinless forms hung from the ceiling, the axe used for dismemberment. Her stomach turned. Having managed to turn her mind to her mother, the one who always made her feel safe she listened intently once again. The Sweeney had asked for a poison, Yeva's heart beat loudly, did she know any poisons? Her family brewed very little, what with the price of ingredients, when you get them, if you get them.

Calming Draught, Veritaserum, Polyjuice Potion, Draught of Living Death, all these things swirled in Yeva's mind as she struggled to come up with and answer. Was Draught of Living Death a poison, she didn't know. Then a conversattion her eldest brother Sergei had, had with his wife. Mother had been shocked when she'd heard that her daughter in law had actually poisoned a rival for Sergei's affections. "Moonseen Poison..." she said softly recalling it's name. "Ms-er-The Sweeney." she added timidly as an after thought.

She'd shouldn't have done it, should have stayed quiet. Her heart thundered menacingly in her head. She did her best impression of a glass window, hoping she'd been right.

Lesson Two- First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two- First Years

Shaking Annika watched as her classmate Yeva gave an answer to The Sweeney. She just hoped that the professor would just move on from there and ignore her. She drew into herself her confidence suddenly gone. She wasn't sure about the class now, and if it hadn't been for the family reputation she might have transferred out. She was afraid of hurting her father. She tried to recall something, anything from her life that she could use to prove that she WAS a good potions student. Suddenly she thought of all the new born calves and babies that died last spring. Of course, she had an answer ready. She sat up straight, her self assurance back.

Alice was running a little late to her first class. She had walked to the room as fast as she could. She had been dancing on her own and didn't notice the time. Now she ran to class. She knew she was in for trouble, but hey, that's how things go.

"Sorry for being late professor," Alice said, walking in the door. "I will take whatever punishment you dish out, I just respectfully ask that we wait till class is over to talk about it so I don't disrupt even more. What are we working on today?"

Yeva turned a frightened glance upon the girl as she walked in. The hairs on the back of her neck as she bristled, waiting for something terrible to happen. Her heart ached for the girl, she wished that there was something she could do to help.

"I am so glad that's not me," Annika thought to herself as the new girl rushed in. Fear settled in her heart turning it cold and causing it to pound wildly while she waited to see what the Sweeney would do in response. Looking at her parchment she watched the interaction through the corner of her eyes.

Lesson Two- First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two- First Years

Post by Agne Bartkus Mon Mar 05, 2012 5:43 am

Agne cursing herself silently rushed into the room and promptly tripped over something in the door way. With a short lived scream she hurtled forward and collided with the backs of another girl's knees, bringing her down too. "I'm sorry!" Agne called to the girl sitting as quickly as she could. "I'm sorry!" she said tearfully to the teacher and at last, "I'm sorry!" she sobbed to the class feeling tears run down her cheeks again. Looking back to see what she had tripped over she gave a shriek and kicked the terrifying skull away, sending it skittering into the hall. She tried to pull herself together, she didn't want to cry in another one of her classes, but it was all just too much.

Lesson Two- First Years Empty Re: Lesson Two- First Years

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Tue Mar 06, 2012 2:13 am

Raven raised an eyebrow and watched as two new students walked into her classroom late, and couldn't help but chuckle loudly, and somewhat evilly, at the fact that the latest Muhe girl was crying because of some reason, maybe she didn't like Trevor?

"Glad you two decided to show up to my lesson, now that you're here, you won't mind if I decide to keep you for a detention...will you?"

Wandering over to the door, where the skull had been kicked, Raven shook her head and picked it up, placing it on the Muhe girls desk with a feral grin on her lips:

"Don't you like Trevor girl? He's pretty fresh, only a few days ago did I inherit Trevor, such a handsome man isn't he?" she cackled

Raven turned to the rest of the class with a smirk:

"Because of these pupils lateness, you will be given a homework today, I want you to research one type of poison and bring it's properties and possible antidotes to next lesson. You two," she pointed to the late students "Detention with me tonight, separately."

Post by Agne Bartkus Tue Mar 06, 2012 2:36 pm

Agne glanced at the skull, a shutter rising within her. She turned to her teacher, mouth agape and bouncing on it's hinge as thought she had something to say. She did in fact have may things she wanted to say, how it wasn't her fault, that she was sorry, that it would never happen again and more importantly to get the skull away from her as her stomach churned. All that came out, all that she was able to emit however was a small pitiful squeak. Watching her teacher for a moment she sat like that mouth open trying her damnedest to say something anything. At length however the squeak turned into a cry and she was set once more to tears.
