Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Lucia walked into her classroom, Sanationem on her shoulder. She grinned a bit exasperated at the bird: it truly was too big to sit on her shoulder, but it refused to do otherwise. She then waved her wand at the blackboard.
'BOGGART'
She was pretty sure that someone in the class would know what a boggart was. She leaned back on her desk, where Sana finally left her shoulder and sat on the desk too so she could pat her. She then waited like that until the class showed up.

Haley walked into the classroom and sat down in the front, giving a smile to professor Henley. She was still mesmerized by the beauty of the phoenix, but the word on the blackboard caught her interest. The boggart? She immediately searched herself for her worst nightmare, but then stopped instantly and found that she didn't want to know.
She leaned back and cleared her head, waiting for the rest of the students.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Airen walked into the classroom. He looked around and saw that, once again, he was the second student to arrive. He looked at the board and saw what the topic of the lesson was going to be. He gulped. He had quite a few fears. But which one was his scariest? He'd find out today, whether he wanted to or not. He took a deep breath and reminded himself of what he had. Friends, his training, Charlotte...
He sat at the front of the classroom, as always. He looked at the professor.
"Ciao (hello), Professor," he said, trying to keep his nervousness in check.

Parker hung his head as he walked down the corridor for class. But then he looked up and took a deep breath. This was perhaps his second favorite class with the professor he looked up to most, so he needed to pick himself up and get himself to focus. Taking another breath he walked to the door and swung it open.
He wondered what they'd be going over in class this time as he walked in. And he couldn't help but smile a bit seeing her and the bird again. He looked over the words on the board wondering what it meant as he took a seat in the front of the room.

Victoria was excited for the next lesson. After the last one, she had spent a lot of time over the weekend working on her Patronus Charm. She had finally been able to get a solid form, though it wasn't able to talk yet.
As she walked in she noticed the front row was filling up quickly. Not wanting to crowd them, she sat in the second row and got out her book. Boggart? She wasn't familiar with it. So she started scanning the book for more information before the class actually started.

Entering the class, she decided she was going to sit in her normal spot. Sadly, her favorite seats (the front) were already taken. Seeing a mass of curly/wavy brown hair, she made her way towards Victoria and sat down beside her.
"Hello you" she said softly with a small grin.
Looking towards the board, she raised her brow looking at the words 'Boggart'
"Fascinating" she murmured softly.
What was her biggest fear? What would it shift into she wondered.

Zara walked into class, quite happy with herself as she had made it to all of her classes on time. She sat at a desk at the back and got her things out. She briefly looked up at the board and noticed it said 'Boggart'. Zara had read about Boggarts before. They were pretty interesting to her. Suddenly, a vision of a dementor popped into her head.

Charlotte walked into the DADA lesson and smiled lightly, it seemed as though she was slightly later in getting to all of her classes than last time but that didn't matter, and she moved into the classroom to sit in her normal seat next to Airen with a smile.
Casting her eyes to the board Charlotte's mouth dropped open, she was not going to be looking forward to this lesson that's for sure. Charlotte knew what scared her more than anything and she didn't know if she would be able to face it or not, especially with all these people here.
Wringing her hands Charlotte sucked on her lip piercing and waited nervously.

Airen looked over at Charlotte. He knew that she would need some support here. He gently placed a hand over her wringing hands. He gave her a small smile.
"Seems you'll be finding out about my past today," he whispered to her. He would've told her, but he still needed to get over it himself. Guess this is the best way.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Lucia looked around and then moved from her leaning position.
"All right, class, we won't stay here for this lesson, so please follow me," she said calmly. "Oh, and you only need your wands," she added.
When the students rose, she turned and walked through the door to the classroom and down the hall to a closed room no one used. When she walked in with the students, a big chest was located by the corner of the room. She walked over to it, and it started shaking.
"I won't ask you what this creature is, as many of you might have guessed that it is a boggart due to what I wrote on the blackboard," she said with a smile, "But can anyone tell me what a boggart does?"
She looked around the class, waiting for someone to reply.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Haley raised hand into the air and then said: "A boggart is a creature that takes form of what you fear the most. In other words, it has no shape that anyone knows of because someone always fears something, no matter how hard they try to conceal it. This also makes them the most terrifying creatures on earth to many people, due to how they scare you."

Lucia nodded. "Very good answer, Ms. Smith. Ten points to Hufflepuff," she said softly.
She then turned to look at the rest of them.
"All right, now, who can tell me how to break a boggart down?" Lucia asked them all with a big smile.
She loved this class. They all had high potential, truly.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Airen's hand shot up into the air. He remembered a lesson taught by one of his mentors.
"The best way to overcome a boggart is with laughter and joy, the opposite of fear and terror," he said, hoping he was right.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Parker curiously stood up, his wand grasped in his hand as they moved room. He was standing near the front of the group that had collected around the trunk. He stared at the trunk as the professor asked what a Boggart did.
When Haley replied he felt the colour drain from his face. The thing you feared most? The most immediate thing that came to mind was the Black Lake, then most specifically a Grindylow, but then the whole idea of death he figured was what was really terrifying. He took a deep breath, looking up at Professor Henley who seemed a bit grave looking.
He looked back down to the chest at Airen's answer, how could he even possibly make that fear into something funny?

Tess tried not to pout a bit as answers were being said faster than she could even respond. Nonetheless, it did peak her interests. She always wondered just what fear would appear said Boggart were to shape shift in, if it was in front of her.
Could be anything her conscious teased her.
Tess bit her bottom lip and looked discretely looked at the other classmates. She noticed that Parker looked like he was going to pass out. The fear was probably the culprit, she figured it was because of the lake incident, a small frowned marred her face at the thought.

Lucia beamed at Airen. "Correct you are, Mr. Auditorien, five points to Gryffindor," she said contentedly.
She then looked around the class, noticing how people were shifting. Her smile faltered slightly at the dread that started to fill some of the students' faces.
"Oh, and remember. Don't worry too much, I'll make sure none of you get hurt, and remember; I am a doctor," she said, winking at them.
She then straightened up. "The incantation is very simple, but listen closely. Ri-DDI-kulus," she said clearly.
"First, say the spell to yourselves sometimes without your wands. Then I want you to line up, and no pushing, that's not fair when you're battling a boggart," she said seriously.
"Ms. McCartney, would you please come over here?" she asked, planning to let Tess do the honors of starting the spell.
When the girl walked over, Lucia smiled to her. "I want you to begin, is that okay? What do you fear the most?" she asked softly.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Charlotte knew that Professor Henley was going to keep her safe but she couldn't help but wish that she didn't have to do this, she hated everything about this week of lessons, being made to ride on a horse in the air, and now she was going to have to face what she feared the most, hopefully she would be able to not take a turn today.
However she was a little anxious to see what Airen meant when he said that she would see something of his past today, and she squeezed his hand reassuringly as she moved into a line like the Professor had told them to, and she gripped her wand in her hand, not happy when she realised she was second in line.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Tess was wide-eyed and dropped the quill that she was currently using to write notes.
You can't say no you dolt her subconscious jibbed her.
Pushing her chair back, she picked up her wand and walked over tentatively. She knew that she wanted to participate, but standing up in front of people, and being so vulnerable was not something she was looking forward to.
Hearing her question, she bit her bottom lip and looked at her feet weighing her fears in order of least to greatest.
Merlin you're a coward she thought as she realized the many fears she had.
"Tangible fears?" she asked.
She figured the answer was yes, for failure, wasn't possible to transform into, nor was death, nor a Muggle witch hunt. Sighing she looked back up to the professor and murmured.
"I don't...I don't know" she whispered.
Looking at the students that were lined up against her, she gained some courage and said.
"I have arachnophobia" she replied a little louder "So spiders"

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Victoria was anxious for her own turn. Just like Tess, she didn't really know what her biggest fear could be that was something tangible. Fear of being unable to protect those she loved couldn't really take form. Nor was claustrophobia, which she had a little bit of.
As the minutes ticked by, she became more unsure of what her biggest fear could be. Then Tess was asked to go first. For the first time in lessons, Victoria was glad she wasn't going first.

Tabi was super late to class but at this point she didn't care she just went into class and sat in the back of the room. She could tell it was a lesson about a boggart and thats all she needed to know. Finding a seat in the back she sat down and just watched the class.

Lucia smiled softy at Tess's frightened expression. "It's nothing to worry about, Ms. McCartney, I'll make sure of that," she said calmly.
She then looked into the air. "Ah, yes. Spiders. They are terrifying," she said, "I'm sure we'll see them more than just once. Is there any way you can imagine a spider being funny? Standing on roller-blades? Losing its leg? Being hit by a brick and losing its balance? Or maybe in a clown costume or ballerina outfit?"
Lucia then looked up as Tabi walked in. "Five points from Slytherin for tardiness, Ms. Prewett," she said calmly, but not sounding very angry. More exasperated.
She then turned back to Tess. "Just remember the spell, 'Ri-DDI-kulus'," she said softly and walked over to the box, hinting for Tess to get ready.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
Tess looked back and frowned a bit seeing that they had lost points. She knew that this meant that she would have to make it up. They couldn't lose points, but her confidence sapped a bit once she realized it was the time that for her to deal with the spider.
She gave her a stiff nod and gripped her wand tight.
Riddikulus she repeated like a mantra.

Lucia could see that everyone was getting ready, though some were shaking more than others. Not on the outside, of course, but their inside.
She looked at Tess, and though the girl seemed very nervous, she knew that the girl could do this.
"All right," she said, "Let's begin."
She gave another nod to Tess to make her prepare herself completely.
Then she waved her wand and the box opened.

Re: Second years, third lesson: the Boggart
A spider.
Oh bloody hell a spider Tess thought frantically.
Her heart rate began to beat hard against her chest, her palms began to sweat seeing the large black eyes that this thing had. It hadn't exited yet, but as it did, she felt her heart rise up to her throat. She licked her lip nervously as it appeared before them.
It was large, twenty feet or so and had long brown legs, hairy and thick. It's thorax was large and held high as it's head held ten large black eyes. It's chompers clamps a few times and some web was on the floor.
"Oh hell" she whispered.
As it walked towards her, she took a step back. She forced herself not to cry out, or cry, or have a panic attack, but her arachnophobia seemed to be winning. Still she couldn't let herself down. Pointing to the beast, she squeaked out.
"Riddikulus!"
The spider soon seemed to have a little hole, and like a balloon and the air came out of it, and it flew overhead everyone. She ducked and covered her head, but soon it turned into multicolored confetti and fell atop of everyone. She sighed in relief as it returned back into the closet.

Lucia beamed at Tess when she managed to bring it back to the box, having had quite the laugh by the ballon-spider.
"Well done, Ms. McCartney! Now, go on, first of the queue, go!" she said with a big grin, letting the boggart out again.
(OOC: Post as quickly as you can, I won't intervene before Monday is over for me, so just post, and I'll stop you tonight. PS: I'm GMT +1)
