Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Humming softly Lily was beginning to plant the plants on the wet ground that she had found very fertile outside her office. She always found it calming to sit down and plant flowers.
They had no magical anything, they were muggle flowers, but she loved colors.
"Beautiful" she murmured smiling.

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Briony had decided that she would like to go for a small break to see the herbology gardens, she hadn't been down there to see them since the new professor took over and it would be a nice break to have a walk down there. Sighing slightly in the warm air, Briony took the lesser known paths to escape the majority of the students trying to get away from classes.
Knocking slightly on the door, Briony peered in and saw the professor potting some new plants and she just stood there for a moment before coughing lightly;
"Good afternoon Professor, I came to enquire about how your lessons are going? And if you need any new supplies for the Greenhouses?"

Lily jumped in surprise but her expression immediately came to a calm and cheerful expression. It was the Headmistress, and she really respected her. It was not just because of her calm aurora, but also because she offered the job to Lily and she was appreciative.
"Headmistress, welcome" she said softly. "Would you like some tea?"
She pointed towards the lawn chairs she had placed beside the table to rest.
"The children are wonderful, very excited to learn and the sweetest" she said smiling.

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Briony twitched her lips up into her usual brief smile as the Professor seemed surprised at first, she did however remember that this particular member of staff was very agreeable and would be pleasant to talk to, as opposed to more, headstrong individuals.
With a nod Briony walked towards the chairs and sat down upon one, finding it more comfortable than expected.
"I would like some tea thank you, what type is it?" she asked in an interested tone.
Glad that the students seemed to be receptive to Herbology, Briony ticked that class off her list, she wouldn't need to worry about this class; "And how is the attendance? Any truants I should know about?"

She smiled and placed the tea setting in the center.
"Oh the tea is a mixture of my own, rose petals and white tea" she explained "It's very sweet and very delicate to a pallet, I find it refreshing with the different mixtures of plants"
She always had a fascination with the different kinds of of mixtures and she found it as another hobby.
"I do hope you don't mind a bit of an experiment" she said smiling as she poured the tea in both cups.
She shook her head at her question.
"The first years have impeccable timing and are very outgoing, full of information. And second years...some are late, it's disappointing a bit but I do take away points if necessary" she said softly.

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Briony raised her eyebrow slightly and was a little dubious of the tea, she was a little dubious of anything if she didn't know what it was supposed ot taste like, it could be tainted with poision for all she knew, but she didn't voice this concern.
"It sounds like it should be an interesting change for me, I'm more of a traditional early grey myself, either that or it's vodka, or coffee." she smirked.
Taking the tea cup, Briony blew on it softly and then took a small drink, finding the taste to be pleasant she nodded with a satisfied look; "That is very nice I do say."
Humming a little to herself Briony thought that it must be different professors having a troublesome time with students being late, and Briony wondered if it was because of their subject;
"I see, I would have thought more would have been late, given the fact that the greenhouses are so far away from the school, but it is good that they are not."

Lily wrinkled her nose at the mention of alcohol. She wasn't much of a drinker, or a drinker at all, for her body was a temple to her and she could not taint it with unhealthy things such as alcohol. Still she clapped her hands in glee.
"I've been working on perfecting it for two months since I've been here. The first time it tasted like dirt, but the plants liked it, the second time it tasted like pure sugar, so I threw it to the sugar cane, and now it tastes perfect, which if for ourselves"
She nodded at the thought of that but smiled.
"I do not know anything about the previous professor who taught Herbology, but what I do decide to do, which is not in the norms, is to make myself approachable. Herbology can be seen as boring in an instant, but if you show excitement then students begin to make it on time. That and I am very, very patient" she said.

Briony saw the look that she was given when she mentioned that she was a drinker of alcohol, she wondered why, after all Briony believed you only had one life and you should live it well and how you want, not scared of damaging yourself.
Listening with a semi-interested expression as she was told about the plants, Briony nodded her head;
"Well I'm sure that all the work has now paid off, and you can still use the old brews to make the plants grow better, very effective trial and error method."
With a small hum, Briony raised an eyebrow, true she wasn't the most approachable of teachers, nor was she patient, but she definately was someone the students could come and talk to.
"Sometimes that is a good thing yes, as long as the students respond to it." she nodded.

Lily looked at Briony with a friendly grin. She was oblivious to the Headmistress' look of disinterest, after all her cheery disposition often times failed to grasp boredom or sarcasm. She was too naive oftentimes to even realize it.
She looked at her plants and wondered if anyone even really realized that plants were more than just made for make oxygen. Still, she figured she was a special case.
"Very much so. I cannot wait, perhaps in a few years I can take a few students as my apprentices. Tell me have you had any?" she asked curiously.
To her, Briony was an enigma, she was very reserved in her emotions and her expressions but she was very outspoken, a simply enigma to her. She was intrigued at her employer and wanted to be friends with everyone in the castle.
"My students do. They're very excited to learn, though some use my class to chat up" she said wrinkling her nose.

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Briony raised her eyebrow when it seemed as if Lily wasn't bothered that Briony was less than enthused about hearing about plants and what they like to drink and such. Supposing it was a good thing Briony sighed and shook her head;
"I have had no apprentices as of yet, I haven't had much time, but I suppose I shall open it up to students when they reach their third year, it will be hard after all."
With a small smirk, Briony thought that they probably used Lily's class to chat because they were aware that they could get away with such an action without much punishment.
"Well the answer to that is to send them to me and I'll sort them out." she grinned, a little darkly "I suppose that the student's don't really get a chance to talk in my lesson."

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Lily nodded as she heard what Briony was saying. An apprentice was very exciting and she couldn't imagine how helpful it could be if people learned the richness of plants.
"I figure whatever child you choose will excel greatly" she said with a smile. "
Hearing her solution to the problem she she felt her cheeks flush and shook her head.
"I couldn't...I'd feel like I cannot handle the children on my own. And I can, I might not have the firmest grip on them, but I can manage. I promise though, if ever they get out of hand, I'll gladly escort them to you"
She wondered if she faced the same problem.
"Was it ever like that when you started teaching?"

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Briony nodded her head with a small smile, she knew that she would not choose a child who would not do well under her tutalage and because of that she would have to take time to look over the student and what they were capable fo achieving.
"Thank you, I hope to make them some of the best duellists that the Wizarding world has ever seen, it's all about applying the spells you do know, in the most effective way, not the amount of power, like people usually think." she added.
Smirking a little bit Briony nodded her head again, in recognition that Lily thought that she could come to her when it was needed; "Well then, I shall be glad to have one Professor that I shouldn't worry about."
Briony's smirk grew lightly on her cheeks and she nodded her head;
"Oh yes, for the first lesson, everyone talked, until I started using my angry voice then they all shut up pretty fast." she joked.

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Lily felt like she was a good judge of character. She realized that Miss Briony was a good person, and was very confident, and self-assured something hard to find in people without it being arrogant. She believed in the best in the individual and knew that she had to be more than just this person.
"We can only hope, especially with the level of danger we are currently facing. It gets worse and worse as the days go by. Sometimes I worry of the children's safety." she said.
She took a sip of her tea with a frown on her face. Honestly she feared having to be forced to fight and kill people. Killing worried her more than anything.
"Never worry about me" she said and let out a small confident grin "I might not look tough, but there's more to me than this sweet shell of a person. Merlin knows I wouldn't survive if this was all I was"
Something that Lily had not done in a long time appeared, a smirk.
"I can see that happening Miss Romain"

Briony nodded her head slightly, and she thought about the hardships that the students would face in times ahead and she couldn't bear to think of her own baby having to come up against them.
"I worry all the time about their safety, but I know that Hogwarts is one of the safest places for them to be, besides the Ministry itself." she sighed lightly.
Glad to know that this seemingly sweet woman could take care of herself Briony could stop fretting about what might happen to her in a battle, as so many sweet people would simply not know how to fight, or they would not wish to.
"I am glad that you are able to defend yourself should the time come to it, although I am more than certain you will not be in any harm."
Grinning lightly, Briony smirked right back; "I have a completely different teaching technique to you it would seem."

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Lily nodded at the Headmistress' observation. It was true, everyone knew Hogwarts was safe, safer than them trying to escape towards their homes. Smiling slightly she nodded.
"Yes they'll be safe, we can only hope this war will end soon"
Smiling at the mention of taking care of herself she added.
"Miss Romain I promise you that if the day is to come where we must head towards battle, I'll be right there protecting the children and our allies"
But she tilted her head confused at the teaching method to which she seemed to be grinning about.
"What would that be?"

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Briony had doubts that this war was going to end any time soon, the reason for that was basically because there was no signs of it letting up already, and that was bad when it came to things like war, normally, when things looked like they were calming down it still took years to finish completely.
"All any of us can do is hope, but not let them become unrealistic, after all, war is a tricky business that takes years to settle."
When she was told that she would have someone with her to keep heading into battle, Briony was a little surprised, she did not think that this woman once seen the battles herself would be so entertained and wish to go back for more, but who was she to judge by appearances?
Raising an eyebrow Briony sipped more of her tea and she set it down once more, they had just had a large discussion about how they were different, but it seemed as if Lily had not gotten the message.
"I was refferring to our prior conversation about the way in which we teach, I seem to be far more harsh than yourself."

Lily tilted her head at her response. She knew they were difference, that was obvious if anyone were to hear their conversation. While Lily was an open book, Briony seemed to be more closed off, protective, both like day and night.
Still she shrugged good naturedly and grinned.
"That's not really a surprise to hear Headmistress" she said softly. " But then again our subjects are so different I wouldn't be surprised either."

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Briony smirked lightly, their subjects were night and day, although she would never say this to Lily, she had never seen the point in herbology, Healers could deal with the medical plants and the rest, were just vaguely pretty to look at, duelling was something that everyone needed.
"I suppose so, mine is a rougher subject, people can get hurt every lesson, it requires a more firm, and harsh teaching method so people don't go and kill each other when it comes to the later years."

Re: Planting On A Sunny Day (Open)
Ah. Lily mentally shook her head, it seemed the Headmistress was the forceful type. She had no idea of soft touch or appreciation of the power of plants. Oh well not many did.
"I suppose so, but sometimes a gentle touch goes a long way" she said softly with a smile.
