Cartwheels (OPEN)

Aquila cartwheeled around happily, her legs swinging above her as she pushed herself up and over. A giggle left her lips, and she gasped as she almost fell on her face, but to her relief she managed to catch herself in time and landed on her feet instead. Her feet ached as she did so and she decided to take a break. Her eyes wandered over to the lake as she walked towards the water.

She pulled her shoes off of her feet, along with her socks and stuffed them into her shoes. She stepped into the water and sighed at the cool feeling. She pulled off her shorts, leaving her in her underwear before she tossed her shorts over to her shoes and dived into the water. The coldness made her shiver as she swum out deeper, before she popped back up and sucked in a deep breath. She treaded water until her body adjusted to the feeling and she ducked back under again. She swum down as far as she could until she felt her out-stretched fingers brush against the sand. She swung her body around, kicked off of the sand and pushed herself back up to the surface once more. She swum back to the shore and sat down where she was knee-deep in the water. She propped herself up with her arms behind her and shut her eyes as the sun brushed against her skin.

Darcie thought that there was going to be a beautiful day today so that she had better head to the beach, and to her delight she was right, as she often was when things happened in her visions, sighing she bounced down to the shore and she wondered if any other people would be out enjoying the weather today, and she was surprised when the lake was quite quiet.

There was only one girl there that she could see, tilting her head to one side, Darcie walked down to the lake in her sarong and swim suit, smiling at the girl and waving as she set up her blanket and her ice box with her drinks in for the day, she had planned to write up lots of her lessons while she had some free time in the sun.

"Why hello." she said happily "It's a lovely day isn't it?" she asked with a happy smile, tying her wavy blonde hair back.

Aquila's eyes fluttered open as she heard a voice and she turned her head to inspect who it was. She faintly remembered seeing this woman around Durmstrang, and curious she pursed her lips. Whatever class she taught, Aquila didn't take. She waved as the woman approached her and nodded her head eagerly in agreement. Her shirt clung to her body as it was wet and she pulled it away from her with a frown. It merely flopped back and she sighed.

"It is! I know you from somewhere, you don't teach at Durmstrang do you?" Aquila asked in a curious tone as she twirled her feet in the water. The sun was rarely shining, so in Germany one would always take advantage of such delightful weather, and Aquila fully intended too.

Darcie smiled lightly and she was glad that she was recognised, she had only just started properly but she had been around the school a little bit before the position was open for her, just to get a feel of the place, and she had probably been seen then, after all she had to do some serious work on their soothsaying class programme, as apparently nothing had been done.

"Why yes, you are correct, my name is Darcie Vane, I'm the new Soothsaying Professor, they hired me when they got tired of the other Professor not showing up." she smiled lightly "And you go to Durmstrang? It's a lovely place isn't it?" she grinned.

She was truly happy to be back there after all this time, and she hoped that she was going to be able to make a difference in her old home; "Who are you?" she asked kindly.

Aquila smiled softly, she'd only seen Lehrer Vane around a few times, and even then she'd looked so busy that many students barely noticed her. It was only vaguely that she remembered her, but now that the woman was in front of her she admired her raw beauty and wondered if she would ever be that pretty one day.

"Well, i'll have to take up that subject then won't I? I've always been rather interested in Soothsaying, I wonder what class i'll drop to take it. Not potions, thats my favourite subjects," Aquila rambled on. For some reason this woman seemed to make her feel more talkative where she would've been moody and rude. "It is lovely, I rather like it there." Aquila agreed.

"Im Aquila Wilson." She introduced herself with a grin and shut her eyes as the sun bathed her in light once more. "The waters really warm because of the sun, its amazing that its actually come out today. Normally its behind clouds." Aquila noted, though Lehrer Vane probably knew that if she'd lived in Germany for long.

Darcie couldn't help but let her smile grow wider and she clapped her hands happily, placing her lesson plans aside for the moment when Aquila said that she would like to take her class, she would be over the moon to pick up a new student, she had very few and the ones that she did have didn't seem to enjoy the lesson as much as she had hoped that they would do.

"Oh that would be wonderful if you would come and join my lessons, it would make me very happy to have someone passionate about the subject in my class, my students now, although they're lovely, don't really seem to like the subject." she sighed, with a small pout "I think they took it because it was an easy option."

Letting her smile back on her face Darcie shook her head; "Oh no don't drop one of your lessons, that wouldn't be fair on the teacher...I could give you private lessons if you wanted to keep all of your other subjects going."

With a small glance at the water, Darcie decided that since it was warm, she might as well dip her feet in it, kicking off her shoes she walked to the waters edge, and dipped her feet in, a light sigh escaping her lips;

"That is lovely, it makes you so relaxed too. I expected this lake to be full of people today with the sun! Perhaps they are all off at a different spot today." she mused.

Aquila could honestly say she was excited at the prospect of taking up Soothsaying - as a brilliant idea had just occurred to her! If someone ever cured her cancer, even if it was after her death, she could perhaps see how they did it and 'cure' her cancer before her death. She had begun to feel sad that she would die, and Lucian's time spent with her would be wasted as he'd have to find someone else...

"I'd be very excited to!" She exclaimed with a glint of hope in her eyes. Maybe she could live. "Easy option? Soothsaying? They must be crazy, that seems like a hard class to me!" Aquila raised an eyebrow and wondered who these students were.

Aquila grinned. "Alright, I won't, i'll just have an overload of lessons. Not that I take many in the first place." Aquila stuck her tongue out and looked up at the sky with happiness. She hadn't been this happy in a long time, for she had hope now.

Aquila splashed her feet around a bit and sighed again at the warmth. It was such a lovely day, and she too was surprised that the lake wasn't over flowing with people. That was normally when Aquila took her leave, as she didn't care much for crowds.

"Well, thats their loss isn't it? Do you mind if I call you Darcie while we're out of school?" Aquila asked tentatively. She didn't want to offend her new lehrer or anything.

Darcie saw her new friends excitement about her subject and she found herself hoping that she would be able to come to her lessons, she really did hope so because she had some wonderful plans for the students, it was something that she had hoped would inspire many, but it didn't seem to be working because she didn't have very many students in the class at the moment.

Unable to stop her happiness being shown on her face, Darcie beamed happily; "It is hard! It's a very hard discipline to learn but many people just don't put the work in and so when it doesn't work they think that it's just a load of old hokum, it makes me a little sad that they do so, but they are entitled to their own opinion."

With a large smile on her lips, Darcie giggled happily, seeing Aquila pulling her tongue out, she didn't want to over load her, but then again she would truly love to have her in her lessons; "I would love to have you in my lessons, so maybe...if it gets too much you should drop the one you don't like, if you have any lessons you don't like." she smiled lightly.

When she asked if she minded calling her Darcie, she shook her head, in fact, she felt flattered that Aquila felt comfortable enough to call her by her first name;

"I would be honoured if you would, you can call me that in school if you wish, I didn't see the point of being formal in school, as long as the lessons are taught, the students are happy, and they really enjoy the subject, it shouldn't matter what I'm called."

Aquila could picture it now, being able to tell her mother that she'd cured her cancer. The happiness that would shine in her mother's eyes would make her happy in turn, as she knew her constant sickness was wearing her mother down. Aquila felt that she was getting worse as they years went by, and the healer's had told her to expect this. When she reached her 20's, she was likely to be un-able to do any running whatsoever for fear of a heart attack.

Aquila nodded her head at Darcie and beamed - thats what she'd thought. She knew lots of students took it as the 'easy way out' but she knew that it was quite hard to learn. "I know! Its so un-fair how the students do that, the disbelief they have is ridiculous. We're witches and wizards, and to muggles that un-believable." Aquila rolled her eyes at her own kinds ridiculousness sometimes.

Aquila nodded her head. She had plenty of lessons she didn't like. "Yep, that sounds like a deal." She grinned at Darcie, already thinking of her like a friend. A friend, Aquila finally had a friend other than Lucian. Even if it was an adult, and Lucian was an incubus. Merlin, Aquila had a particular choice in friends.

Aquila smiled as she was told she could call Darcie that in school also - that was a relief. "Good. Im already starting to think of you more as a friend than a lehrer." She smiled cheerfully. "And yes, I agree!" Aquila exclaimed.

Darcie was glad that Aquila was of the same mindset as her, after all she was going to be taking her class, and she seemed as if she had a real genuine passion for what they were learning, it would be an honour to be able to teach her the art of Soothsaying, no matter how long it took.

"I totally agree, I believe that most people are just afraid of what they will find if they go searching, but there are rules to soothsaying, just as there are rules to everything else in the magical world." she sighed "So it's perfectly safe really."

Kicking her legs in the water, Darcie hummed happily to herself, there was nothing negative in the air around her today, everything was feeling wonderful, which in turn made Darcie feel even better.

"But if anyone asks, I did not say that was alright, I don't want to get into trouble with the Doctor, he seems to be nice enough but...he's still scary, all bosses are scary." Darcie grinned.

Unable to feel anything else but over the moon when Aquila said that she thought of her as more of a friend, Darcie knew that she was acting in the right way, because that was exactly what she had wanted; "I'm glad, I want to be able to be open enough for people to come and see me about their problems, being a friend seems to be a good way to go about that."
