Capturing Beauty (Charlotte and Parker) Empty Capturing Beauty (Charlotte and Parker)

Charlotte had remembered that Parker wanted to come with her when term was over to watch her paint, it was something that she wanted to follow through because she didn't want to let someone else that she could be friends with slip away into nothing, she had promised to do this, so she would.

Setting up her painting things, by the window with the view that they had seen on their way back from the hospital wing last time they were there, Charlotte began to think about what type of painting she would like to complete, if it would be something more life like, or would she put her own little fantasy twist onto it...

Deciding that she would go for the second option, she waited for Parker before completing anything too strenuous in the painting.

Parker remembered that he and Charlotte were supposed to meet after school got back in session. Now with a bit of free time before he started to help out Professor Henley, he thought today would be a great day to do the painting. Well, only if she wanted to. They agreed to meet at the spot they talked about meeting last year.

As he was walking, he was wondering how her summer went and if she had fun. He'd not talked to her at all yet this year and that was a bit sad, he liked talking to her. He'd been so busy he'd not been talking to much of his friends lately. He found he was a bit lonely at times, but he was dealing with it fine, at least he thought so.

As he turned around the corridor, he smiled, finding her set up in front of the window view of a lower courtyard. His footsteps could be heard as he approached. "Hey, Charlotte!" he said, looking over at what she has started thus far.

Charlotte turned her head around when she begun to heard footsteps approaching her, after all, there were lots of students milling around but they had all tended to go away before they got to this particular section of the corridor, not many people wanted to come here, it only led to a bit of a dead end along the corridor, and the hospital wing, which blissfully not many people were in.

Waving happily to Parker, Charlotte stood up when he approached and hugged him a little, before breaking away with a smile and sitting back down;

"It's so nice to see you again, it's been a while, did you have a nice summer?" she asked, a small smile never leaving her face, even as she concentrated on visualising a hippogryff in the middle of the sky above the courtyard.

Parker found himself wondering why there were never many students over here. Well...granted it was a pretty dead end corridor, the windows were large and gave a great view of the grounds and the courtyard down below.

He smiled as Charlotte saw him and waved at him excitedly. She stood up as he got closer and when he went to stand beside her she hugged him. He hugged her back a bit stiffly.

He smiled As she sat back down but when he asked how his summer was he tried to mask a coming frown. He shrugged. "It was...interesting?" It sounded more like a question then a statement. He didn't know how to describe it. And it wasn't like he'd outright tell her it wasn't good. "How was your's?" he asked back, looking over the canvas as well, wondering what she was planning to do.

Charlotte almost pouted a little bit when Parker didnt hug her back as warmly as she did him, but then she thought that it might be because of what was going on between him and Pyxis, and then she understood, there was something there between them she just knew it. It was going to be really very interesting as they got older, Charlotte was certain they would go out when they both decided they want to, if they weren't already.

Tilting her head to one side, Charlotte stopped drawing the hippogryff and she frowned slightly at Parker's description of his holidays;

"Well, that does not sound like it was a good holiday." shrugging her shoulders Charlotte smiled lightly "It was okay, a bit boring though, I made a new friend though, which made up for everything."

Parker saw that she seemed almost a bit upset that he'd not given such a great hug back. He knew girls liked hugs, but it was honestly a little bit odd to hug anyone other then his mum or...well, Pyxis, unless he was really upset and he really didn't care otherwise.

He looked from the canvas to her, raising his eyebrow slightly as she frowned a little. He hoped she didn't ask too much about his break...

"Oh, well, I don't know. My breaks aren't usually all that great." he said offhandedly. He realized he still had to explain some things to Pyxis about what worried her about his break, and he really felt like he should explain to her first, before anyone else...

He nodded in understanding when she said she had a bit of a boring break. He knew a boring break quite well from his first summer from school. He smiled a little bit when she said she'd made a new friend."Oh, you did? That's great, who is it?" he asked curiously.

Charlotte almost wanted to whack her head on the canvas when Parker said that his break 'just wasn't that great' she supposed if he didn't want to tell her then she wouldn't ask him any more about it. She would just get on with her painting and hopefully that would calm her down a little bit.

Honestly she was only trying to be nice and make conversation.

Frowning at the canvas Charlotte began to sharpen her pencil and draw the feathers on the hippogryff in more detail, so that she would know where to paint when the time came.

"Sam Hawthorn." Charlotte said simply when he asked her what friend she had made.

Deciding to put all her concentration into the painting and less into listening to Parker, because he didn't seem all that talkative recently, Charlotte added some more detail to the background, sucking on her lip piercing she drew her face away from the canvas to look at it from afar.

"Does that hill look wonky to you?"

Parker frowned, looking down, taking note of a somewhat tense feeling between them. Where did that come from? He looked at her as she sharpened her pencil, seeing her frown.

When she said she had made a friend in Sam, his face brightened up a bit, and he smiled a little. "Oh, really? She's one of my friends. She's nice, isn't she?" he went on to say, trying to bring up conversation so things wouldn't get awkward.

She seemed to become more concentrated in her work and was happy enough to just watch, it was pretty amazing the control she had over the brush. He could hardly even write neatly.

As she leaned back and asked him about the hill in the painting, Parker tilted his head a bit, then looked at it straight again. He pointed to the right side of it. "Maybe bring it up a little bit more here so it looks more rounded, rather then squarish?" he said, sounding unsure. Hoping it would help, though not knowing if there was any fancy art talk that he should know about or anything like that.

Charlotte sighed a little bit, having made a small mistake on the detail of the hippogryff. She only ever made small mistakes like this when she was either distracted or felt as if she was beginning to get a little upset. When Parker mentioned Sam, Charlotte smiled faintly,

"Yes she is a nice friend." she agreed before glancing at his, "How long have the two of you been friends?"

Charlotte had redone the small mistake she'd done but she felt her eye drawn to it with a small frown. From now on she knew her eye would be drawn to it, even if it was not visible anymore. Frowning a little bit when Parker mentioned that her hill looked a little squarish, Charlotte looked at it closely for a few moments before sighing and nodding in agreement,

"Yes it does seem to be a little bit squarish." she shook her head as she began to round it out a bit more, "I don't know why but I've been making mistakes I don't normally make..."

Parker watched her as she painted some details of the hippogryff. She sighed and he wondered if everything was alright with her. He really didn't want to be a bother to her and distract her from her painting.

He smiled and nodded she she said she was a nice friend. She then shrugged when she asked how long they'd been friends. "I don't know...not too long. The end of last year I think?" he said simply. he hoped it wasn't bad that he hadn't remembered. So much had just gone on since then.

Parker frowned a little though when he noticed her frown. "I'm sorry...I didn't meant that to me rude or anything..."

He looked away from the canvas to the view she was painting. "It's impossible to not make mistakes, you know. At least you can always fix it. It'll look goo anyway you do it."

Charlotte smiled lightly and nodded her head when Parker told her how long he had been friends with Sam, to be honest it was about as long as she had been friends with her, if he ment the end of the school year, as they had met during the holidays.

"Oh I see, so we've known her about the same time then?" she asked with a light smile playing on her lips.

Raising her eyebrow when Parker said that he didn't mean to be rude, Charlotte placed the brush down on the easel that she was using and turned to face Parker with a smile.

"Artists pull faces while they're working, I often frown, it helps me to concentrate on a particularily difficult piece of the picture that I'm working on. I wasn't frowning at what you said."

Returning her attention back to the picture, Charlotte looked at the hill and sighed, how could she make such a mistake? She was supposed to be good at this.

"I know, but I am a little bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my work, if it's not the best I throw it away."

He smiled and nodded lightly. "Yep, I suppose so. Kinda funny don't you think? We didn't even know we had a mutual friend!"

Parker rested his hands on his knees, still looking at the canvas as Charlotte turned to him. He looked at her when she said that it was just a way to help her concentrate. "Oh, I see. Sorry, I don't hang around any artist. Interesing though."

When she turned back to her work, Parker looked back at the canvas as well. He frowned a little when she said she'd throw it away.

"Wel that seems like a waste. Why not..make something else out of it? Like, paint over or something? I've heard of people just doing that."
