Capturing Beauty (OPEN)

Charlotte had decided that in order to get away from her father for a while, however lovely he might be, while he was out on a job she had ventured out into the Silent Wood that wasn't far from her house which had a similar name.

Setting up her paints in front of one of the large, beautiful, oak trees Charlotte sighed happily in the warm air and sat down, pulling her white socks up to her knees before she began to get out her canvas ready to sketch.

"It's so beautiful out here..."

She whispered, almost afraid to break the silence falling around her.

Jaden was walking through the woods until he bumped into a jumble of paints. "Um, hello?" he asked, wondering whether he should go back and leave the girl in peace but he thought he better ask. "Have you seen the acorn dragon?" he asked.

Charlotte gasped a little and frowned as a boy walked into her paints, her red eyes flashing as she got some blue paint on her White hair, making her look a little bit silly. Sighing she placed the paintbrush down with a small smile.

"Hey there, what's your name?"

Blinking slightly Charlotte shook her head, the Acorn Dragon? Was that a rare breed of some sort?

"Uhm, no I don't think so, I don't even know what an Acorn Dragon looks like...what is it?"

Jaden let out a sigh "I've been looking for him everywhere, I can't find him! I was told he'd be here, they told me" he said coming back to reality for a second to realise he'd made half of a mess.

"Sorry" he laughed softly, quickly neatening up the paint to what he hoped was their original position.

"I'm, erm, Jaden, you?" he asked.

Charlotte felt her eyebrows raise a little bit, what was going on? Had someone tricked Jaden into thinking there was something called am Acorn Dragon? If so that was really mean. As she saw him straighten up the paints she grinned.

"Don't worry about it, it was a mess anyway."

Smiling slightly wider Charlotte stuck out her hand for Jayden to shake.

"I'm Charlotte, Charlotte Smith."

Now he was disappointed, he didn't give a cool introduction like that, shame on you Jay he sighed out loud but managed to quickly cover it up with a coughing fit.

A few seconds later he took the girls and and shook it. "Velazquez, is the name, but not many people can say it never mind spell it" he frown, examining the area around him. There were trees, lots of trees, and on the floor ACORNS he had to be close to the acorn dragons lair.

"Would you help me find the acorn dragon?" he asked.

Charlotte couldn't help but giggle softly and gently pat the boy on the back, it hopefully would stop him from coughing so much, and as he stopped she drew away with a small smile.

"Nice to meet you Velazquez, Velazquez...it is a bit of a mouthful but I'll get it."

Grinning Charlotte tapped at the easel so that it shrunk to fit into her backpack, she put the tops on her paints and slipped them into it, zipping it up and flipping it onto her back. Whatever an acorn dragon was she would find it.

"Sure, I'll help you find it."

Charlotte smiled, this boy was sure weird...but in a good way.

He admired the girls touch magic thing that didn't need a wand. "Don't you have a wand?" he asked her before allowing himself some time to think.

He scooped up a handful of the fallen acorns and sniffed them, a fine clue to the acorn dragons lair, it had to be, he just didn't have a clue how this clue worked.

"Mmm... This way" he pointed in a direction he thought was North.

Charlotte smiled and drew her wand out of her pocket with ease, flipping it back in she showed Velazquez the little seal on the top of the easel, it meant that once you had done it you didn't need to do any more magic.

"Yes I've got a wand, but I use a magic seal on this so that it's easier to use."

Raising her eyebrow as he picked up some acorns and sniffed them, a little bit odd, but nothing that she couldn't handle she was sure.

"Okay, I'm right behind you."

With that Charlotte began to head north and wondered a little bit about the boy she was travelling with today, "Are you going to Hogwarts?"

"Damn it," Pxyis hissed as her foot hit a branch and she went flying forwards. She had no idea where she was, or how she had gotten here. One moment she was just wondering around, thinking, the next she was in the middle of a forest, wood, whatever you wanted to call it. Grumpily, she got back up and brushed off her skinny jeans. She was thankful her hair was in its usual high ponytail, or else it would've been snagged by many branches by now.
She continued walking, and through her grumpiness she did acknowledge that this wood, forest, whatever was rather beautiful, with its tall, swooping trees, lush, lively grass and pretty little flowers dotted here and there. She hoped she got out of this forest soon. "Is anybody there?" called Pxyis, before she heard the rustling of leaves and the murmur of voices. She pushed a branch away from herself and spotted a girl and a boy walking along.
She rushed over to them, and let out a huge sigh of relief. "Can you help me? Im completely and utterly lost," said Pxyis.

Charlotte turned as she heard rustling and tensed, surely there wasn't actually such a thing called the Acorn Dragon? But as the rustling stopped she saw a girl emerge from the bushes and immediately relaxed once more, it was just a human, but...were they a muggle or a witch?

Deciding to assume they were magic Charlotte smiled graciously and nodded her head.

"Of course I can help you, I'm Charlotte Smith, who are you?"

With a look between the new girl and Velazquez she wondered if she should invite her to come with her as she looked for this thing with him, she doubted he would mind.

"You want to tag along or shall I take you back now?"

Pxyis wondered if these two were witches/wizards, and decided to assume they were muggles. "Im Pxyis, Pxyis Wilson. I wouldn't mind tagging along, i've nothing better to do today. What are you up to?" She asked, looking at the duo curiously. Perhaps they were brother and sister? She would ask the boys name, Pxyis decided. "Whats your name?" She directed her question to the boy with a smile.

Charlotte smiled happily as the girl said that she would like to join them because she had no idea what it was that they were supposed to be looking for, or if she was in fact in the company of someone sane or not, after all...it did seem like this creature didn't exist.

Turning her back to Velazquez for a moment Charlotte smiled awkwardly.

"Velazquez asked me if I knew where the Acorn Dragon was, and I didn't know so...were now going to find it."

Charlotte whispered this part just to Pyxis: "Have you ever heard of an Acorn Dragon because I haven't, I'm not even sure one exists, so...I'm glad you decided to come along I don't know where I'll end up."

Pxyis' brow creased when Charlotte mentioned the 'Acorn dragon', and she doubted the sanity of the duo in front of her. When Charlotte leant over and asked if she'd ever head of one, Pxyis laughed.
"My gods no," she whispered back. "Are you sure he's... mentally stable?" Pxyis asked her, shaking her head.
Just her luck, she's lost and stuck with a loony on a quest to find a creature that doesn't exist.

Charlotte couldn't help but chuckle softly as Pyxis laughed at the idea of going to find some mythical beast called the Acorn Dragon which was exactly what she thought when she first heard it too, it was reassuring to know she wasn't just being silly and ignorant not knowing what it was.

It in fact just didn't exist.

"You know...I'm really not sure, he just, turned up here, I feel bad though what if he's lost too? We can't just leave him here can we?"

Biting her lip Charlotte looked from Pyxis to Velazquez: "Hey um, why don't we go this way and see if he's here? After all there's an oak tree this way."

With that Charlotte smiled slightly and made to walk in a northerly direction, if in doubt, always head north. Turning to Pyxis she smiled slightly wider: "So, Uhm, you know what a muggle is?"

Hoping this question would discern if the girl was Muggle or magical Charlotte hoped she wouldn't take it badly, as if she thought she was silly, she just wanted to be cautious in case she was a muggle.

Pxyis could've hugged Charlotte for her quick and sneaky way for the two of them to escape loony. They wandered a little ways off before Charlotte started conversation. "So, Uhm, you know what a muggle is?" Charlotte asked, and Pxyis decided to mess with her a bit. "A muggle? Don't talk nonsense! You're just as loopy as he is!" But before Charlotte could respond, Pxyis burst out laughing. "Only joking, im a witch and all. Im even going to Hogwart's, don't get much witchier than that, do you?" Pxyis kicked up a bunch of leaves as she stared at the canopies above.
It truly was quite beautiful in this place.

When Pyxis said that she had no idea what a muggle was Charlottes face fell, she was so sure too, and who knows they might have even been in the same house together, but alas it wasn't to be. It was then that Pyxis said she had in fact been joking that Charlotte blinked a few times and laughed softly with her, boy, she really was gullible sometimes.

"Really? That's wonderful! What house are you hoping to be in when you get there, I'm going too so well see each other there."

Smiling happily, Charlotte was glad to know at least one person that would be going to Hogwarts, maybe even two, even if one was a little loopy.

"I can't wait to go you know!"

Pxyis didn't hesitate even the slightest before answering, "Im hoping to be in Slytherin," as they walked along. She hoped that Charlotte wouldn't think she was evil just because she wanted to be in said house, she just thought she had a lot of the common traits that are found in Slytherin's. She looked sideways at Charlotte and wondered what house she'd be in.
Hopefully, even though Pxyis wanted to be a Slytherin, maybe her and Charlotte could be friends. It would be nice to have someone at Hogwart's that she already knew and could hang out with. "Im looking forward to it as well. Say, what house do you wish to be in?" Pxyis asked and crossed her fingers that perhaps, she might have a fellow Slytherin friend in front of her.

The quick way that she was answered made Charlotte blink a little, Pyxis reall did want to be in Slytherin then, it wasn't a bad thing, it was up to the individual really if they chose to go the way of most housemates and become evil, or they just had the traits of the house.

"That's a good house to hope for, you'll get it I know you will, after all the Sorting Hat takes your choice into consideration too."

Charlotte smiled happily and hopped over a branch as she walked, there were large tree roots sticking up out of the floor that made her feet hurt to stand on in her Converse with the thin soles on them.

When she was asked what house she wanted to be in Charlotte almost answered immediately with the same answer Pyxis had done, but she just didn't know what house she was going to get, it was just that...she wasn't very Slytherin like.

"I'm hoping for Slytherin too, or Ravenclaw, whichever I get. As long as it's not Hufflepuff im happy."

Pxyis laughed at her comment of anything but Hufflepuff as she nodded her head in agreement. "Im not particularly fond of Gryffindor, and Ravenclaw isn't half bad but I really, really want to be in Slytherin," Pxyis said, smiling at the girl. "Perhaps, if we're both in Slytherin or Ravenclaw, it wouldn't be so awkward. I know i'd feel weird if I was in a room full of strangers, especially Slytherin's. They can sometimes be judgemental, but hopefully they'll be fine. So, why were you out in this wood/forest/thing anyway?" Pxyis asked, for she had been wondering why the girl was out here with loopy anyway.

A thought suddenly hit Pxyis. "Oh dear, what if he's gotten himself into trouble? He didn't look like the overly intelligent type," Pxyis fretted, stopping in her tracks and turning around, the leaves crunching beneath her feet.

Charlotte nodded her head, she agreed if there was another house she would rather have it would have to be Ravenclaw, just because Gryffindors were another form of being rude rule breakers and she didn't know what Hufflepuffs did exactly.

"I think that'd be great to be in the same house, Slytherin and Ravenclaw are the only ones I would be happy with too."

Smiling softly Charlotte nodded her head: "Yeah, I'm half hoping all the rumours about Slytherins aren't true, after all, I don't really want to be around any snobby people, or people who are too mean."

With a gesture to her bag Charlotte thought about the painting that she had just finished and she grinned it was finally done after all the time that she had spent working on it, she had been here about 24 hours in total doing it.

"I came here to finish my painting of the clearing there when he found me, but I do think we should go back and see if he's okay."

Biting her lip Charlotte turned and walked back with Pyxis.

Pxyis followed after Charlotte with worried thoughts. If this acorn dragon was real, how big was it? Did it breathe fire? Would it attack the boy?

Don't think nonsense, there's no such thing as an acorn dragon! Pxyis thought sternly, shaking her head. She had read about different dragons, and had never heard of an acorn one before. It just didn't exist, and besides it sounded small. And dragons were huge.

"I wonder where he got the idea of an acorn dragon," Pxyis said as they walked back to where they were originally. "I've read all about dragons and never heard of such a creature," continued Pxyis.

Charlotte's ears pricked up when Pyxis said that she had read all about dragons, recently more so than normal she had been excited about finding a dragon and possibly drawing it, after all what could be more beautiful than that?

At the moment she had developed a fasincation for drawing beings in flight.

"I have absolutely no idea, maybe he just found an acorn on the ground and wondered how it had gotten there?"

Shrugging her shoulders lightly Charlotte wondered if Pyxis too felt the same about dragons, and that was why she had read all about them.

"Do you like dragons?"

Pxyis laughed at the thought of someone being... imaginative enough to see an Acorn and come up with the concept of an acorn dragon. The thought was ridiculous, so ridiculous that it made her laugh hysterically. She manages to stop long enough to hear Charlotte ask her if she liked dragons.

"Do I like dragons?" Pxyis asked, grinning. "I adore dragons. Dragons are my passion! I know all about them, from the Antipodean Opal-eye to the Hungarian Horntail! They are brilliant creatures, I only wish I could have one. Perhaps I could shrink one and keep it in my backyard," Pxyis said the last part in a joking tone, grinning brightly. "Do you like dragons?" She asked in turn.

Charlotte was a little bit taken aback as she looked at Pyxis when she began to dissolve into laughter, it was something that she wasn't very used to, nobody around her laughed very much, but soon enough Charlotte began to laugh along with her.

When she said that she loved dragons, Charlotte's face lit up and she knew something that would make her as excited as it had made her.

"I love dragons! I think they're so beautiful. I wish that I could find one, if only to see it, maybe draw it if it stayed still enough but I doubt that."

Leaning towards Pyxis Charlotte whispered:

"My dad said, that the Care of Magical Creatures department has a dragon, a Welsh Green, I think I'm going to try and find it when I get to Hogwarts."
