DADA lesson 2, year 1

Lucia walked into her classroom and over to her desk, having opened the door so students could enter now. She leaned against the desk, wondering how this lesson would go. Last lesson had been rather unefficient, but this one was going to be better. She turned towards the blackboard and waved her wand, the word 'Exitarmus' reading upon it in white chalk.

She then waited for the class to assemble.

Carly walked into the classroom and smiled at the professor. She then sat in her desk waiting for the class to begin. She noticed the writing on the board and realised they were going to cover the spell that they should have last time.

Iola skipped into her Defence Against the Dark Arts class excitedly. While she was very good with the Elven forms of defence, she hadn't studied any Wizarding ways yet.

Lucia looked at her three students, still not getting why so few people wanted to learn how to defend themselves in the middle of wartime. She shook her head and realized that she was a bit short on time. She frowned and then turned to the students, giving them all a smile.

"Welcome students, today we will be learning the spell 'Exitarmus'. This is an offensive hurling spell which throws your opponent backwards. Which is why-" Lucia began and waved her wand, tables and chairs vanishing, and cushions covering every single inch of the room "-I've put up the cushions. The pronunciation is relatively easy, so repeat after me; 'Exi-TAR-mus," she said smiling to them.

When they so had done, she nodded. "Good. Now, the wand movement is easy. Just give it a flick down," she said and demonstrated.

"Now, as you're three people, you three go together and practice the spell on each other in turn. Trust me, it won't hurt. I'll slow you down before you hit the pillows to make sure there will be no damage," she said softly.

"Begin," she then said and leaned at her desk, ready with her wand to slow them down.

After repeating the spell again in her head Carly turned to face the two other girls. "I don;t mind being hit first" she said, taking up a position and waiting for one of the others to throw the spell at her.

Iola was nervous about performing an offensive spell as she preferred to be on the offensive using non-magical methods. She raised her arm and carefully said the incantation.
"Exitarmus." She said carefully.

Carly smiled at the slytherin girl to reassure her as she seemed a bit nervous, not that she needed to be. Carly went flying back through the air, landing gracefully on the other side of the room thanks to the spell that Professor Henly cast to slow her down.

Grinning Carly walked over to the two girls and said "that was so much fun! whose turn is it now?"
