Re: Saving the day (Luther and Darcie)

Darcie was beyond happy when Luther agreed to stay in bed with her, she would really like him to because it must be horrible trying to sleep on a sofa all night, or at least not sleeping but lying on it for a very long time must be completely draining and boring with nobody to talk to or to even have any TV to watch.

"It will make me feel so much safer Luther, and it would make me a lot happier to know that your comfier here, do you want anything by the way, some drinks or something, I would have offered them to you before but...I was a bit out of it." she giggled moving closer to Luther.

Supposing that she was just a very huggy person, Darcie had to restrain herself from hugging Luther as he lay there in the bed next to her, this was one of her own dreams to have someone stay in the same bed as her, to protect her and keep her safe.

Without really knowing it, Darcie ran her hands up the cold metal of Luthers arms, and she felt a pang of sadness run through her, he could not feel anything then? What kind of a sensation would that be to get used to?

Luther could see that it meant a lot to Darcie that he was in bed with her now and he was happy as long as she was happy. To be honest though, sitting on the sofa had really been getting boring. He'd promised himself that he would though so he did. He smiled faintly,

"It's alright, I knew you would be. It's not exactly an everyday occurance now is it?" he agreed before looking ever so slightly sheepish, "I... didn't want to help myself to any drinks or anything..."

He could tell by the way that she wanted to be close to him that she was fighting the urge to hug him. Deciding to help her out, he wrapped one of his arms around her middle as gently as he could. He wanted to hug her, not creepy her out with the coldness of his arms after all. Luther watched her run her finger across the smooth metal of his arms,

"I'm sorry..." he whispered to her, "I'm sorry that my arms are cold."

Darcie immediately jumped out of bed and rushed into the kitchen normally she would never have been so rude as to leave a guest in her home without anything that they might want, tapping several different mugs Darcie pulled down a tray from one of the cupboards. Upon it she placed a glass of water, milk, orange juice and apple juice, and then the mugs of coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

She slowly walked back into the bedroom and smiled shyly; "I apologise for not offering you one before, but here's one of everything that I have, I hope that you'll like at least one of them, don't worry if you get some on the bedsheets I do it all the time."

Snuggling back into the bed, when Luther apologised for his arms being cold, Darcie pouted and she wrapped her arms around his neck, hugging herself closer to him and placing his cool arms around her back in a return hug.

"You don't have to apologise Luther...are these why you are so sad?" she asked softly, running a finger across them "I think they're cool."

Luther actually blinked in surprise when Darcie was there beside him one minute and gone the next. He leant out to the side of the bed to try and see what she was doing because all he could hear was some noises of glasses being moved and a kettle boiling. When she walked back in with a literal platter of drinks he blinked a little bit,

"Ummm... thanks. I like all of them really." he smiled a little bit, "So how about you pick the one you like the most and I can choose from the rest? I like them all equally after all."

He smiled faintly when Darcie hugged him tightly and wrapped his arms around her. Relaxing into the hug, he held her as she held him. He glanced down at his arms,

"Yes." he whispered quietly. There was little more to say. They were the source of much of his pain. When she ran her finger across them he looked into her eyes, "I can't feel that. I can't feel you touching my arms... or feel you holding my hand..."

Darcie blushed a little bit, maybe she had gone a tad overboard with the whole drinks thing, but she felt so bad for leaving Luther for so long without something to drink when he had rescued her and shown her nothing but kindness. Taking the glass of orange juice, Darcie smiled and sipped at it.

"Well you can have your pick from any of the drinks that are left, I always like orange juice the best, its just so nice, tastes weird after you've brushed your teeth though."

When she was told that Luther couldn't feel anything that happened to his arms, Darcie bit her lip and she hugged him even harder burying her head in the crook of his neck as her whole body pressed against his own.

"I'm sorry that this happened to you, but you shouldn't be sad...you were given such wonderful replacements, you can still do everything you used to, your healer was very clever to make you these." she smiled softly "But I'll make sure to touch places where you can feel what I am doing then, if it bothers you."

Luther smiled a little bit at Darcie's blush. You couldn't fault Darcie for enthusiasm, she had it in spades and it never seemed to be misplaced either. He smiled and took the cup of hot chocolate and took a sip,

"Yes it does taste rather bad if you brush your teeth straight afterwards." he agreed as he sipped his hot drink, "But that's not a problem shared by the humble hot chocolate."

Seeing her biting her lip, Luther looked away. It seemed that even now he was making it difficult for Darcie. When she hugged him harder and more lovingly he couldn't hide his surprise, especially when she almost molded her body against his,

"It was my own fault it happened to me." he replied quietly. He chuckled a little bit and shook his head, "You'd be surprised. You saw the glass. I have to concentrate incredibly hard not to crush whatever I hold. And my healer didn't make them... they're too advanced for a healer to make. One of my old team mates made them for me. Esentially made a working human arm out of metal."

Darcie giggled a little when Luther seemed to be moving away form his normal reserved self and making himself more open and funny with her like she had hoped that he would be when they had first met, it seemed that it just took a massive event like the attack to bring them that much closer to each other.

"Well I never like the normal hot chocolate you get, I always have to save up and buy the expensive one, it's thicker and tastes so much better though so it's worth it." she smiled gently, placing the cup on the bedside table.

When Luther seemed surprised at her hug, Darcie couldn't help but look a little offended, she had only wanted to make him feel better, but perhaps he was just not as physical as she was in his affections, or anything really.

"Would you rather have no arms at all?" she asked simply "Because then you would feel even worse because you would not be able to do anything at all, why do you dislike them so much Luther? I don't understand, surely you should be happy with your replacements?"

Luther had to admit that it felt good to relax a little bit around Darcie, the way that he'd only really relaxed around Leon and Richard before. It felt nice, it felt better than when he was with them because he was with Darcie. He had to be scared to death by her capture for it to come out though apparently,

"Ah but I find if you get a moderately expensive one and add in two spoonsful and then stir it in with a dash of milk... it makes it thick and creamy like the expensive one." he told her with a small smile before chuckling, a dry and small sound, "But maybe that's just me."

Seeing that Darcie seemed to be offended by his reaction to her hug, Luther hugged her back with a small smile. It was odd to be hugging someone who you couldn't feel your arms around them,

"That wasn't an option at the time. It was this or death... still is. If I try to replace this things I'll die." he shrugged slightly, "I'm happy that I am not crippled. I am happy that I can still do some things but... it's the nature of the replacements Darcie. With these I am a mix of machinery and human... technically that means I'm a cyborg, not human."

Darcie giggled a little when Luther told her about how he made hot chocolate, it was very odd and she wondered if he was always so presice when he talked about things like this, she knew it was in his nature to be exact, but it was kind of funny.

"Well maybe you will have to make it for me one day, I will happily try it, although if I tried to make it myself I dont think it would turn out as well as if a seasoned creator like you made it."

Listening intently to Luther Darcie gasped and sat up in bed when he told her exactly why he was sad, she thought it was a horrible thing to say about yourself, that you weren't human and she shook her head, sending her blonde hair flying.

"Now you listen to me Luther Amsel! Don't you dare thing of yourself like that, you're a lovely caring man and one day you'll make one woman very happy, you are a human man and not a machine. I don't like hearing you say such bad things about yourself." she added, whispering the last part.

Luther had the presense of mind to be slightly sheepish. It was kind of amusing how he made everything seems so calculated. It was just something that came with being a genius, everything boiled down to numbers and equations,

"I would love to make you a cup one day. Of course all of my equipment is at home so you'd most likely have to come to my house." he observed before smiling a little, "Yes it is rather amusing isn't it?"

Luther, as you'd expect, didn't have a great self-image but he didn't think it was gasp-worthy in terms of how bad it was. He blinked a little bit as she dressed him down for his view. Who knew that Darcie could feel so strongly as to give him a real telling off,

"I don't know if I can Darcie... who would want me anyway? No matter if I'm human or not, a large part of me isn't. What woman could love that?" he asked her quietly before smiling, "Then I won't say them anymore."

Darcie smiled gently and she thought that it was rather nice to be able to have a friend that could come over to her house for sleepovers and maybe she could go to his house to stay over as well, she had not really had one of them in years.

"I would love to come to your house and have some hot chocolate, it would be nice to see where you live, I imagine everythings really neat and organised." she smiled happily.

When he told her that she didn't think that he wasn't going to be able to find a woman who would like him because of his arms and she felt her heart beginning to hurt because everyone should have someone to love them, regardless of what they look like.

"Luther please don't think so badly of yourself, it;s...it makes me sad, and I know that someone is going to love you for who you are, you'll find someone like me, I think they're cool!" she smiled gently "I don't mind them at all."

Luther had never been this close to someone in this manner for a very long time. Being in the same bed, holding her close... it was something that he had missed, being this close to someone,

"Then I shall have to make sure that I have some in." He told her before chuckling a little bit and shaking his head, "Mostly it's a testament to how paranoid I am."

He could see in Darcie's eyes that she felt sorry for him and he wasn't sure how he felt about it. If it was just empathy, which he assumed it was, then he was grateful. But if it was pity he would rather he hadn't said anything. He hated being pitied,

"I'll try Darcie but it's been a long time of being like this and seeing myself like that... it won't change over night." he told her quietly. Luther smiled at her, "Someone like you? I'd like that... I really would."

Darcie had in her mind the type of house where there were sorts of weapons everywhere if he was that paranoid, and that there would be lots of magical traps and locks everywhere, she would be sure never to get the key to that apartment.

"So...I wont be getting in there on my own will I?" she asked with a small giggle "Hopefully you'll be able to show me exactly what to do in case you set up some surprise traps or something."

When Luther told her that he would like to find someone like her, and she gasped when she realised she could do something that she had completely forgotten about! Then they would know for sure.

"I could divine your future! If you would like me too I could try and see what is going to happen in your future, and give you a specific reading, about love if youd like." she suggested "We can see if I have a clone or something you'll end up with."

When Darcie seemed to zone out, obviously trying to figure out what he meant by that, he chuckled a little bit. He enjoyed making people have little thoughts about what his home was like. No one had gotten it right yet,

"I don't think so no. Not until I show you where it is at least." he told her with a chuckle before shaking his head, "No traps. No guns. No pit falls. No dungeon. None of what you were thinking of."

When Darcie gasped he was so surprised, having been shocked out of his relaxed state, he actually checked if there was anything behind him. Luther turned to her with a raised eyebrow before nodding,

"That's right... you're soothsaying professor at Durmstrang. I'd like it if you could take a look." he told her with a small smile, a hopeful one, "It would be nice to have someone to look forward to being in my life."

Darcie pouted when it turned out that she had in fact been wrong when Luther told her that there were no traps and things set up in his home, if there werent she really didn;t know what it was going to be like, maybe it would be one of those bare modern homes with square plastic furnature?

"Hmmmm I guess it will be a little bit harder than I thought to figure you out and figure out exactly what you have in terms of a house, I'm thinking either a flat or a small kind of terrace though."

When he told her that he did want her to look into his life, Darcie nodded her head with a large smile on her lips, she would indeed have a look into what his future held for him, if he desired it.

"Well okay then, would you like me to do a tarot, or a tea reading, because we could just use the tea here if you wanted to witness some tessomancy." Darcie asked, now being slightly more professional than normal.

Luther chuckled a little bit when she pouted. It was a very cute look for her and combined with her existing cuteness it made her incredibly cute. She was going to guess and guess but she was never going to get it,

"I know, it's very difficult to figure out what kind of a house I have. But I will say now that it's a detached townhouse." he grinned, "The paranoia bit is that it's not in a town. Or even near one."

He was actually rather excited to have his love life's future explored. Normally he'd not put any measure of faith in soothsaying but Darcie was a trusted and respected member of the Durmstrang community. She was actually able to see the future, unlike so many others,

"Ummm... I'm not sure..." he blinked a few times, he'd never had this kind of thing done before, "Mmm tarot cards I guess? Just because I've heard of them really..."

Darcie, when she was told that she was going to do some sort of tarot reading, she got rather excited she hadn't done one of those in a while, and she had certianly never done one in the middle of the night, or morning rather.

With a small smile, she jumped out of bed and rummaged through one of her tea boxed before bringing out her favourite tarot deck, they were actually magical and so she had to keep them safe, which is why they were in the locked box.

"Tarot cards it is then Luther, now I have to tell you that since you are over the age of 18 your reading wont be censored unless you want it to be, so if I see someones death or something I'll tell you unless you dont want to know." she smiled lightly.

Taking the deck out of it's box, Darcie shuffled it and then asked; "Would you like me to deal from the top middle or bottom?"

Luther watched with barely concealed amusement as Darcie got excited about reading his future from the tarot cards. Wasn't it usual for the one who's future was being told to be the most excited? But then again, he reflected when Darcie jumped out of bed, Darcie was better than usual, she was extraordinary. When she retreived the cards he sat up a little bit straighter,

"Someone's death? I didn't think that would be such an issue in someone's love life but that's fine." he smiled slightly, "Just give me the whole truth and nothing but the truth if you will madam of the future."

He didn't know the significance of the question so he just shrugged at first before deciding, "From the top please."

Darcie smiled lightly and she began to deal four cards from the top of the deck, it was easy to do it from the top, the people who chose form the middle made it hard for her to deal the cards correctly, although after all the years she had gotten it down pat.

"I have to ask you where you want them dealt from because it's your prophecy, you need to be able to pick your own cards." she smiled gently, and then she looked at the cards dealt out on the bed spread.

She hoped that the results would be good but she could not make sure that the results were good, it was so nerve wracking for her, but Darcie had a feeling his love life would turn out wonderfully.

"Well then are you ready?" Darcie asked with a light smile "Which way shall I turn them over from? After all like I said, you have to choose yourself."

Waiting with baited breath darcie's hands lingered over both ends of the deck, wondering which way he would choose to begin from.

Luther watched her dealing the cards with undisguised interest. He'd never seen this done before after all so he was interested in how it was done. Seeing that she was obviously skilled at this, Luther smiled slightly, she must be a great teacher of the subject,

"Well I guess that makes sense. Sorry if I picked the most difficult type." he told her with a small smile as he watched the cards, "This is rather exciting actually... never had anything like this done for me before."

Truth be told he was rather nervous, which was an odd event in itself if he was honest. It was the same kind of nerves he got before every mission. It was the uncertainty of having no idea what was going to happen next. It was the same reason why he was feeling so excited too,

"Yeah I'm ready when you are." he told her with a smile, "Let's see what my future holds. Ummm... left to right? Your left."

Darcie smiled gently when Luther told her that he was excited about the reading, she was excited to give him it even if she would have preffered tessomancy, although she was equally as good at card reading if she had to do it, it came naturally to her once she began.

With a small hum Darcie grinned; "Well you should be excited, it's a big deal, and you know what you need to be able to have these done more often then, I'll be happy to do you another reading after this for another area of your life if you want."

When Luther told her what he wanted Darcie picked the first card up, one of the major arcadia and she smiled gently placing it on the bed with a small rustle, it was the Lovers card, as was expected;

"Since we are doing a love reading, this could show that the love that you are going to recieve from your new lady friend is going to be one of the purest examples of love, but it also shows that through this new lover you will be able to love yourself and to develop a positive self image."

This was all a new experience for Luther and to be fair he thought he was taking it rather well. All of the other new experiences he seemed to get now a days were of the bad kind. Like paperwork. God knows he didn't have that when he was a frontline soldier,

"Knowing my future? Yeah that sounds like a pretty big deal to me too." he agreed with a smile before smiling slightly wider, "Why I'd like that. Of course I might trouble you to switch it up a little bit and have a tea reading."

Luther watched with attention as she picked up the first card. He didn't know what it meant so he listened attentively. When she explained it he smiled happily,

"That sounds great to me. I'd like to try and view myself in a nice light at some point too." he told her with a smile before looking a little bit excited, "The next one in the line now right?"

Darcie smiled happily she would love more than anything to give him a tessomancy reading they were so fun to do because you had to work out the little shapes and then it was so much simpler as there could be any sort of meaning to these cards!

When he said that he was happy with the first card Darcie beamed and nodded her head; "Its always a good sign when it comes up in readings, so it doesn't look like theres much to worry about for the time being." she smiled.

Turning over the next card Darcie held it up so that Luther could see it more clearly, it was an odd one, although it would apply to love in many different ways she supposed;

"This card is from the fire deck, the minor arcadia, it shows that you will overcome some sort of struggle, so I predict that you will have to work hard to get this love to be as good as it is, but when it's perfected it would be strong and impenatrable just like the Lovers card would suggest, perhaps your lover has feelings for another you have to overcome?"

Luther wasn't aware of how someone could be made so happy by another person saying that they could look at tea leaves until he met Darcie. He chuckle lightly, seemed he'd not picked her favourite method,

"That's good, I'd rather not have a love life filled with tragedy if I can help it." he observed with a small smile, "The Lovers sounds like it bodes well for my fate as a lover."

He cocked his head to the side as he looked at the card. It gave nothing away about it's meaning so he listened to Darcie's explanation. He frowned slightly before smiling again,

"Well they say that everything worth keeping is worth some struggle." he replied with a wider smile, "The same is true of the purest of loves."

Darcie was very glad that Luther had took the card so well, after all it was a rather unnerving card to get, not as bad as the hanged man however, but it was still one that showed there was a struggle ahead, but it promised something wonderful after the struggle.

"I'm glad you're being so positive about all of this, after all it is something that many people find to be too disheartening as soon as a bad card comes up." she smiled gently, lifting the next card.

Making a rather surprised face Darcie placed the card in her grip and held it up to Luther once more with a slightly confused expression on her face, although she knew the interpretation of the card that woudl fit in with love;

"This card is the major arcadia card of the Devil, it shows that there is likely to be some raw passion present in your love and some almost beast like nature in your...um..." she blushed "Activities."
