Lesson One - Fourth Years Empty Lesson One - Fourth Years

Post by Darcie Vane Tue Jun 12, 2012 6:32 am

Darcie smiled happily, she never thought she would be so glad to be back at Durmstrang but she was, there was however that sadness that she would no longer be able to see Luther as much as she wanted to...and that she would be in the same castle as Mikhail, and it still made her upset to think of him walking out on her.

Biting her lip Darcie shook her head and composed herself for the lesson ahead, she knew that she needed to be happy for the students as they would most likely be nervous after having to take the ship to the school once more after the attack.

With a happy little flick, Darcie wrote in chalk the lesson point on the board;

'Ya Sang'

Noah walked into the room and sat on his desk, looking at the board he saw "Ya Sang" written.

'Great' he thought 'I'm gonna look like an idiot because I dont even know what that is' Sighing he leaned back in his chair and waited for the rest of the class to arrive.

Dmitra walked into the Dark Arts classroom with a smiling face. On seeing Professor Vane, her favourite teacher, an even larger grin broke out on Dmitra's face and she greeted cheerfully, "Morning Professor!"

Again, she saw Noah sitting in class and she dumped her satchel on the table next to him, "You're reaching every class ahead of me this time, huh?"

Then Dmitra saw the word written on the board. "Ya Sang.....hmmm......"

Lesson One - Fourth Years Empty Re: Lesson One - Fourth Years

Post by Aquila Wilson Tue Jun 12, 2012 9:01 pm

Aquila was quick to arrive at her Dark Arts lesson this week, as the last lesson of last year she'd missed - and she didn't want to disappoint Darcie. She honestly didn't care about any of her other lessons that much anymore, just the ones Darcie taught, because they were the good ones. Although, she did care about potions. In fact, she'd dropped all of her lessons save for Darcie's and her potions lesson.

She walked into class and took a seat at the front, a smile sent Darcie's way. She made a note to talk to her about her holidays another day.

Vladimir was not very impressed at the moment, he realised as he returned to Durmstrang not only was his lessons shared by that girl he had met, who he did not get along with in any way shape or form and that would probably mean all his lessons he would now hate....a lot.

With a small sigh he stepped into the classroom and gave the other students a weak smile, already not wanting to be here.

Lucian was not very impressed that the Doctor was now allowing those Hogwarts students into the school, it was very unprofessional and he just hoped that his troust would not be misplaced in the Headmistress of Hogwarts.

With his brow furrowed, Lucian walked into the lesson, and looked around, a small sigh escaped his lips as he resigned himself to another year of being belittled by professors. He was so irate, he didn't even give his usual mornings greetings.

Darcie smiled happily at the class and she waved to all of their familiar faces, they really were a delight to teach these pupils and she had missed them over the holidays.

"Hello everyone, my holidays were wonderful and I hope you all had nice ones as well, but now it's back to the hard work of school again, but I'm glad to see you all here once more."

A large smile on her lips she gestured nicely to the board;

"Ya Sang, that is our topic for today, do any of you know what it might be, please dont be worried if you dont know its a very obscure method of Dark Arts not practiced in Germany that much."

Aquila glanced at each person for a mere second as they walked in, and felt a smile on her face as Lucian arrived, but he seemed to be in a sour mood and she ducked her head once more.

Aquila smiled up at Darcie now, still a little hurt that Lucian had chosen to ignore her but tried not to think about it too much.

Aquila looked at the board and remembered something she'd read in the textbook.

She raised her hand. "Isn't Ya Sang black magic that is practised mostly in Thailand?" She asked.

Dmitra waited for the Geschick girl to finish, then continued, “Ya Sang is a form of black magic derived from fatal poisons of different kinds, especially plant poisons. It also uses exotic, rare ingredients from different types of magical creatures like the fire cobra or hao fai, highland jungle toads or chong-kroang and others.”

Dmitra smiled at the satisfaction of giving an informed answer. It was a good thing that she was well versed in such obscure terms of magic and dark arts.

Darcie was so happy when there were two very good answers given in class, she was glad that the students seemed to know more about the art than they had first thought, it was just slightly intimidating because it had a funny name, however it could be easy to remember for that fact too.

A large beam on her face she nodded her head;

"Oh well done the two of you! Ten points to Risiko and ten points to Muhe for your wonderful answers!" she praised "Now can anyone tell me a possible advantage of using this sort of dark art? Especially in the country where it is used, Thailand."

Dmitra put up her hand again, "Ya Sang is a very advantageous form of Dark Arts because it is so difficult to detect. It causes stomach poisoning, physical pain and other ailments, which could have been caused by something as normal as food poisoning or eating unhealthy food. In the place where it is practiced, called.........Isaan I think?-.....lack of hygiene and superstitions are very common. A person could die of Ya Sang and the people would simply think that he ate something poisonous from the jungles. Which of course isn't far from the truth."

Darcie was oh so very happy with the answer given by Dmitra, it was a wonderful answer and it showed that she had clearly read the lesson material that she had provided for them ahead of schedule, it was always refreshing to see that someone would do that.

Unable to stop herself smiling, Darcie nodded her head and spoke;

"Oh well done Dmitra! I could not have said it better myself, you have just earned Muhe another ten points!" she said with a large grin on her lips "That is exactly what the benefits of the Dark Art is, and you can see how perhaps in a society like this, things would be detected whereas they would not in the conditions where the art is practiced."

Stepping forward Darcie opened the door to the classroom;

"Lesson dismissed."
