Ice Cream is Good in Any Season

Oliver had been strolling through Diagon Alley just looking for something to do. With his hands in his pockets, his jacket unzipped, and his sunglasses perched on the bridge of his nose, he looked like a teenager out for some fun. Of course, looks were always deceiving.

He entered Florean Fortescue's for some ice cream. Sure, it wasn't too hot out anymore since it was Fall, but there was no reason why he had to go without the sweet treat just because it was starting to get a little cold out. He chatted it up with the woman behind the counter before stepping back and actually reading the board.

Taking off his sunglasses, he tucked them in his inside jacket pocket and crossed his arms. "Now what should I get," he murmured to himself, a grin on his face. "There's just so many good flavors here, and I couldn't just choose one could I?"

Eliza entered Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour, feeling for something cold to eat. The first thing that came to mind was the pudding Alice makes, but she couldn't get any since Alice was busy with school. Ice - cream came a few minutes later.

Checking out the options, Eliza spotted a teenage boy picking a flavor. He looked excited. Maybe he didn't come here much. Eliza looked around and didn't notice she had almost tripped on the teenage boy.

"I'm sorry," she said. "I was a bit distracted by the flavors."

Oliver smiled and stuffed his hands in his pockets before shrugging. "No pain, no gain right? I can understand where you are coming from though." He said, gesturing to the board. "Just can't pick what ya want right from all the good stuff huh?"

He turned back toward the board, pulling one hand out of his pocket to scratch at his head. "Yeah, I still can't decide," he said to himself before turning back to the woman. "Anyway, I'm Oliver Shine. Who might you be miss? I figure we might as well make small talk while we decide." He grinned. "What better way to get to know people, right?"

Eliza chuckled a bit and nodded. Ice - cream had many flavors, it's so difficult to choose. "So many flavors, yet so little time," she said, looking what kind of chocolate they have.

"I'm Eliza King," she said, wondering if Oliver would call her 'miss' if she told him that she was at the age of 35. "Nice to meet you, Oliver Shine. I do enjoy talking to people. So, what made you feel for this frozen treat?

"Lovely to make your acquaintance Eliza King," Oliver said, grinning and crossing his arms. "I guess I was just in the mood for some ice cream. It's getting to be colder out now, but that is no reason I should go without any ice cream. It's one of my favorite things in the world to eat."

Oliver shrugged and looked back up at the board for a few moments. "And you never know who you're gonna meet ya know? There could be a couple other people who were just in the mood for ice cream. Good way to strike up different conversations and make new friends after all." He commented, smiling over at Eliza. "You work in the Alley or near here?"

"Nothing like ice - cream in the freezing winter," Eliza joked. "I do also like to eat ice - cream. It's makes me feel cool in the summer and frozen in the winter."

"Yes, places have unexpected things to happen. And, no. I live somewhat close here. Not to far, but close enough. I'm a Healer at St. Mungo's. What do you do, Mr. Shine? It must be close if you can get ice - cream here any time you want."

[Oliver Shine]

Oliver nodded with a laugh. "That's right! Too bad they don't make warm ice cream, but that's what hot fudge is for right? I could do with some of that, now that I think about it." He commented idly.

He stuck his thumbs in his pockets and grinned. "A Healer eh? That's gotta be a rewarding job, when things run in the favor of the patient. I actually thought about being a Healer once, but I found a different calling. I'm the History of Magic Professor up at Hogwarts. It's pretty fun most days."

"Warm ice - cream sounds like a silly idea," Eliza smiled, "But, a good one at the same time. It's ice - cream. The name would have to change if it becomes a warm treat."

"It good to know how to heal. I can always help people in emergencies. I thought the History of Magic professor was someone named Moody. My daughter do enjoy his class."

Oliver rubbed at his jaw in thought, a grin on his face. "That much is true I suppose. I just thought I'd call it warm ice cream and be done with it." He laughed and shrugging, rocking back on his heels. "Either way, I don't doubt it could be done. We are magic after all.

He cast his eyes at the ice cream board again before nodding to Eliza. "I'm not sure what happened to him. I heard he became indisposed or he just needed a break? Either way, the position was open so I thought that I could take it." He shrugged and smiled at her. "Hopefully your daughter will enjoy the class just as much even though I'm there."

Eliza wondered how ice - cream can be made warm.

"Would it be made like fudge?" she asked. "It's solid, but when it cut apart, it smooth like ice - cream. It would be in as many flavors as ice - cream. It's sounds so appetizing, I bet Alice would be the first to eat it. I would like to eat it, don't you?"

Eliza smiled at the thought of her daughter.

"Hopefully, nothing bad happens to him. And, my daughter would enjoy your class. She loves Hogwarts. It's her second home. As long as you don't irritated her, you'll be fine. She's a bit stubborn at her part."

[Oliver Shine]

"You're making me more hungry when you talk about fudge and the like," Oliver said with a laugh. "I would definitely eat any flavor of fudge that came my way. So long as it's good to taste of course. If only someone could get on making that."

Oliver smiled wistfully to himself as he imagined the different flavors of fudge there could be. Shaking his head, he grinned. "I'm a pretty easygoing Professor, I think. I'll enjoy having all my students, so I hope they enjoy having me as a Professor."

"I imagine it in rocky road flavor with the marshmallows and peanuts," Eliza said. "What other flavors would it be in that would be popular? Maybe mint with pieces of chocolate or strawberries with strawberries in it too, like yogurt? How about cookie and cream? Maybe you should go in business with someone and start making the product yourself. When it's successful, your name would be known to the whole Wizardry world."

"I do think you would be. Have you taught yet? My daughter owled me and mentioned that the Headmistress had taught the first lesson."

Oliver scratched his head and thought it over. People would pretty much love any fudge that was made with such good flavors, and he faintly wondered why someone hadn't thought of it before. Then again, who knew what wizards came up with on a daily basis? "I'd have to bow outta that I'm afraid," he commented. "I don't do well with such popularity. Just make the people you encounter happy. That's my motto."

He crossed his arms and nodded to Eliza. "Yes, you are correct. I wasn't there in time to do the first lesson, but I'll be taking over the next one." He said with a grin. "We'll see how I fair then."

"I understand that," Eliza said. "I wonder how you going to deal with it when you become popular at school. Teresa would like your motto."

"What do you plan to teach?" she asked, putting her fingers on her chin. "I know this year's 3rd years have already learned about the four founders of Hogwarts."

[Oliver Shine]

Oliver blinked. He hadn't thought about becoming popular at his school. He also hoped that people didn't assume he was a teenager, though most did. Perks of a young face and an easy going attitude. "I'd rather not become too popular," Oliver said with a lazy smile. "It's a motto I've lived by for quite a while, and it's well off enough to where I don't need another one."

Oliver canted his head, pondering what he would teach for his classes. "I know my first years will get something easy. Magic within different countries probably. Third years will probably delve more into the personal lives of the founders. Namely Slytherin since he was certainly more secretive." Oliver shrugged. "All in all, I could do anything."

[Eliza Sophia King]

"Good luck with that, Mister Shine," Eliza said, speaking about popularity. "You can never have to many mottoes, can you? Have one for everyday of the week and see what happens."

"Is hard to make lesson plans?" she asked with curiosity. "Because you have to plan everything for every lesson for every year. Is that why professors leave every year?"

[Oliver Shine]

Oliver laughed. This woman was certainly charming. "I think I'd get confused if I had a motto for every day of the week. Not too mention, what would happen if that particular motto didn't apply that day? No, no. I think I"ll take the easy way out and stick with my old motto." He commented with a grin.

Rubbing his jaw in thought, he nodded. "Yes," he finally said. "I suppose it is a bit difficult to come up with the lessons. But I don't think that's why the professors leave every year." He chuckled. "Most teachers actually like what they're doing I think, so they can attend to it accordingly."

"Well, all you have to do it write it down on your calender," Eliza laughed, "or get a tattoo and enchanted it to change mottoes everyday. If that motto doesn't work, you can always get another one. Words of wisdom are always useful for anything."

Eliza was smiling, enjoying the conversation with Oliver. It was enjoyable. It started from ice - cream to mottoes. Such weird transaction happening make her forget about some things.

"Well, I hope you stay for awhile. You would make a great addition to the Hogwarts teaching staff."

"An enchanting tattoo? A marvelous idea really." Oliver said with a wide grin. "I'd like to see something like that someday. Where the little quote just changes every morning to something different. Though it'd have to have at least something different for a couple months so you don't see the same thing every week."

Crossing his arms, he nodded his head. "I sure hope I prove I'm up to the task of teaching the students," Oliver said. "I would really hate to disappoint if they do not like the way I run things in a classroom."

"I always wanted a tattoo," Eliza said, "but I never actually know what I wanted. Enchanted words seems like a good idea, but what should it say or change into every time? Do you have one, Oliver?"

She looked around the counter and finally decided to get regular rocky road ice - cream. Eliza was always simple.

"So, have you always wanted to teach? Or was it something that new?"
