Fourth Years: Lesson Two Empty Fourth Years: Lesson Two

Post by Oliver Shine Wed Jun 27, 2012 10:15 am

Oliver whistled to himself as she wrote his name on the board. He figured the kids might as well know who he is first off, and that he wasn't a student helper. He knew he looked young, and it had been commented on time and time again. He was used to it though, and it helped him keep his childlike demeanor when he was around those he didn't know. Or those he didn't have to act like a grown-up to.

Wiping his hands of the chalk dust, he went over to his desk and pulled all his papers together. Sitting on his desk and smiling to himself, all he had to do now was wait for his students to arrive. He couldn't wait to teach them.

Oliver Shine, that was what was written on the board, he was the new History of Magic Professor. Most of the students in his year didn't like history, but Humphrey sure did. It surprised him that people didn't like to learn about the past, said it was boring.

Taking a seat at the front of the class, he prepared himself for the lesson. Took out parchment, quill, ink, and his history of magic book. "Morning Professor Shine, I'm Humphrey Williams. How are you?" he asked.

Victoria was surprised to see that she wasn't the only on here this time. Before Humphrey had returned, she'd ended up being the only student in this class. As a muggle born, she'd always found any information about the wizarding world fascinating.

Taking a seat, she smiled at the young looking professor. It wasn't just his looks that seemed young, it was his enthusiasm. Most other professors weren't much older, but they seemed old and worn down. She wondered if this was how she would seem in 10 years. 20. 50. 100. How would she act when all her friends were dead and gone?

She shook her head to clear her dark thoughts, waiting for class to start.

Oliver grinned widely at the boy who had addressed him. Hopping off his desk, he crossed his arms loosely. "Good morning to you Humphrey. I'm quite well, thank you for asking. I assume you are fine as well?" He asked with a nod in the boy's direction.

Looking at his two students he stepped closer to the both of them and smiled. "Welcome to History of Magic. I have replaced the Headmistress and whichever professor was before me, as you can see. Before we start off with anything, I'd like both of you to tell me what you would like to learn. Anything in particular come to mind?"

Victoria raised her hand, trying to let the enthusiasm from the professor infect her. "Well...since we are currently participating in a tournament with Durmstrang, maybe we could learn about other tournaments held by the schools?"

She looked at Humphrey and had an idea brought on by their COMC class. "Or maybe we could learn about the history of vampires and werewolves." she wasn't sure if Humphrey was feeling forthcoming about his status, so chose not to say.

"Those are great ideas Victoria." Humphrey said, smiling at her. "I think that maybe if we could learn more about the first wizarding war that would be cool. Always wanted to learn more about Grindelwald and the things that happened with that." The first wizarding war had always fascinated him.
