Much Ado About Nothing (Humphrey and Tess) Empty Much Ado About Nothing (Humphrey and Tess)

He had worn time period clothes, and had on a hat, and the rufflees and everything. Naturally, he felt completely ridiculous, but hopefully he would fit in. Humphrey waited for Tess, excited to get going. They were going to go back in time to the debut performance of Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare. Tess and him both had time-turners, and had calculated the number of turns it would take. Taking a seat, he thought about what was about to happen.

The year would be 1598, in the fall, and Shakespeare would be alive. He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that this was even possible. It would be an amazing thing to do, see this live performance of a classic play. Much Ado About Nothing was a brilliant one, a favorite of both himself and Tess'. "This is going to be so much fun." Humphrey said to himself. Then he heard footsteps, and looked up.

Tess was running down the stairs towards the grounds. She was wearing different clothing, simply because she wanted to fit in. She had dressed up in long pants and a long white shirt, with a vest over it. Her hair was tied in a bun and a hat was atop. She wanted to fit into the time period and men were mostly seen in the theatre. She didn't want to wear atrocious dresses and those long undergarments so she figured men's clothing was better. The shoes were still boots, but comfortable enough for her and not flashy.

Seeing Humphrey already there, she couldn't help but let out an excited grin. She had never time traveled so back in time before, but this seemed like a perfect time. Spinning around she took off her hat and bowed down in a playful manner; she was glad that they were back to normal.

"What do you think?"

Seeing Tess coming, he let out a huge grin. Her pageboy outfit was fantastic, dead on. "Wow Tess, you look great. Somehow, I am not very surprised you didn't go for the big frilly dress. You ready to go see a Shakespeare Play, when he was actually alive. I'm so excited, Much Ado About Nothing is just soo amazing." Humphrey told her excitedly. He had a feeling that this was going to be a night to remember.

It was the first time he was traveling back in time more than a couple hours, and he was a bit nervous about it. Hopefully, everything would work out alright though. In theory, it should work just as well. "Alright, Tess, you ready to travel back in time. This is the first time I've done it with anybody else, it is so cool. You have no idea how glad I am we can do this, absolutely stoked. Glad you gave me another chance at being friends Tess. Really, thank you so much." Humphrey said, smiling softly at her.

Tess smiled at his excitement. She was excited too, after all her favorite authors was the genius known as William Shakespeare. At the mention of the frilly dress though, she wrinkled her nose and placed her hands on her hips.

"Honestly, I want to fit through doors when I get to the theatre" she joked. "But come on, get up, forget the past, live in the present. I've forgiven you and that's all that matters, don't remind me. Now, I've done this before...in first year" she said wrinkling her nose.

She slipped her silver Time Turner out and she smiled.

"Now I can do the turns on the way towards the Globe Theater I've calculated them, and you can use yours from the Globe Theater to here." she explained. "You will have to think of the globe theater so we land in front of it."

He couldn't help but laugh when Tess wrinkled her nose and put hands on hips, her being intimidating was funny. She was one of the most non-aggressive people he knew. "I know, I was just kidding. You look great, really. Okay Tess, if you say so. Alright, I've done it too, never this far back though." Humphrey admitted. Tess wrinkling her nose was a quirk that always made him smile.

Watching, as she took out the time-turner, he prepared himself. "Sounds like a good plan to me." Thinking of the globe theater, he got close enough so she could put the necklace around them both. "The Globe Theater is staring right back at me in my mind. You ready?" he asked, really excited now.

Tess rolled her eyes at his grin, no matter how strong headed she tried to be, she knew that she wouldn't be taken seriously. She didn't mind, after all, she wasn't too serious. But honestly, when she meant to be intimidating, she was scary, so Victoria said so.

"Already see it" she said smiling. "Come on, start doing the turns" she said smiling.

She rolled her eyes at him, was Tess actually trying to be serious. He wasn't sure, but he decided that if she wanted to be intimidating Tess probably could be. It was just weird considering her that way, she was normally a more timid personality.

Humphrey smiled back, "Yes ma'am." Beginning to turn, he counted each one out loud. After what seemed like ages, the last turn was completed. It had taken quite a while to do all the turns, because each one only went back an hour. Looking up at her, he asked, "You want to do the honors Miss McCartney?"

Tess grinned brightly at the whole thing, excited that she was going to the Globe theater and being able to be a part of history in the making. At his question she shook her head.

"You do the honors" she replied.

They were about to go back in time to the Globe Theater in its heyday. This was going to be so amazing, was this really happening? If it was, then it was one cool day.

"Alright, one, two, three!" Humphrey yelled out. He started the time-turner, and the spinning began. The familiar sensation of going back through time began, and then just kept going. Much different than the short trips back just a couple hours, that was for sure. After what seemed like a long time, the world came into focus. Now they were in the year 1598, and it was quite a different view from anything he'd ever seen.

Tess felt dizzy; but she closed her eyes and allowed herself to try and keep her footing. As the spinning stopped, she opened her eyes and looked around.

People were ignoring them, all rushing towards the theater, and once they placed the foot on the ground, she slid the necklace from her and smiled brightly as they were here. The smell was atrocious, but at least it was before the industrial revolution so the skies were clear.

"Come on, I think we may have made it on time" she said clapping her hands in excitement.

Once the dizziness from the time travel wore off, he looked around. The Globe Theater was right where it should be, and so were they. Humphrey couldn't believe he was actually here.

They didn't seem to be sticking out too much. He was glad that they had worn clothes from this era. It stunk a bit, but it could have been worse. "Yea, let's go see a play. This is going to be so much fun. Still can't believe we are actually doing this, it's so cool." Humphrey agreed, clapping his hands with her. "Okay, let's go in, you ready?"

Globe Theater, she had read so much about it. She covered her glee and tried to act like a boy, and she decided to lower her voice. She was nervous, especially because people raised their gaze at them or she swore some of them were gossiping about the pair.

"I've been waiting for this, since I knew who Shakespeare was" she replied softly. "Let's go in before they think we're loons and take us to Bedlam."

People were starting to look at them a little funny. They better get inside before people find out they don't quite fit in. "I know what you mean, I've always wanted to see a Shakespeare play. Always thought it would be a performance in our time though, never even thought this would be possible. Pretty amazing." Humphrey admitted.

"Yea, I think we better go in too. Some people are starting to look at us funny, and Bedlam would not be a fun place to visit." he said. "To the play we go." He led the way into the theater.

Tess smirked as she saw Humphrey's rant. But entering inside, her breath was taken away and she clasped her hands together in glee. People were filling up seats in the masses and it was hard to find a seat.

"Come on, let's try and find some good seats" she said to him.

She wanted seats closer to the stage, especially during her favorite part, 'Sigh no More' but it all depended on the availability.

The seats were filling up quickly, and they needed to find one. It was amazing though, it was even more awesome than he imagined it would be. This was turning out to be one of the best days ever.

"Yea, let's get closer to the stage if we can manage it. This is going to be so good, Tess." Humphrey told her, smiling widely. He felt like this was going to be spectacular, and he wanted a good view. Hopefully all the good seats weren't taken already.

Tess grinned and almost reaching for his hand to tug him along, that is until she remembered that she was a page boy for the day. She was dressed up as a boy and so she walked like it.

She found two seats at the front row and immediately slipped in front. She found it funny how the higher stands were seen as the better seats, but for her, the front was where one interacted with the actors and felt their energy.

She sat down and looked around seeing how people instantly knew that they were not veterans of the theater.

He noticed Tess almost reach out and grab his hand to pull him along. Humphrey chuckled just a bit, that would have given them away for sure. She was trying to walk like a boy, and that was amusing him as well.

They were able to find seats in the front row and slipped into them. The seats in the very front were his favorite, though other people liked the higher ones for some reason. In his opinion, there was nothing like being right up next to the actors.

People were looking at them a bit funny, and Humphrey wasn't sure why. Maybe they just didn't look like the theater type. "You ready for this, Tess? It is going to be one amazing show." he whispered to her.
