Fourth Task (Open to all) Empty Fourth Task (Open to all)

Post by Doctor Florence Nettle Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:31 pm

The Doctor had erected a massive stadium with the help of his staff and those visiting from Britain in order to house the final task and it's deadly objective. In the middle of the stadium were two large crates, which were rocking violently. Loudly cries of animal rage came from each of the crates, which were about the size of one of the tables at the great hall.

This task was perhaps the most dangerous even if it was probably one of the most simple objectives imaginable for a task. All the students had to do was fight, one on one, with a pair of creatures from inside the crates. The two champions were already down in the stadium with him. He raised a hand for quiet,

"Today is the last task of the tournament! And today Airen Auditoren and Dimitrius Skaia face a pair of terrible foes, each!" he told the crowd, his voice amplified, "For inside the crates they face... Acromantula! And to make the beasts even more deadly? Both champions have been sprayed down with pheromones! They will each be attacked by two of these terrible monsters!"

He stopped the amplification magic and turned to the two champions,

"Good luck you two. You'll need it."

Melody cheered along with the audience but really she didn't feel safe just watching the challenge. What if the monsters got out and attacked the stands?

Fourth Task (Open to all) Empty Re: Fourth Task (Open to all)

Airen looked around the stadium. He wasn't sure who would be there, but he saw the Headmistress and a few of his friends there. His clothes felt damp from the pheromone spray. He knew that he wouldn't be able to smell much of it, but the Acromantulas would. He rested his hand on the obsidian sheath where his sword rested. He would fight to the best of his abilities.

"Good luck," he said, extending a hand for Dimitrius to shake.

He turned and gave a nod to the Highmaster and he faced his crate. He closed his eyes and started breathing deeply, preparing himself for the coming challenge.

Humphrey had confidence that Airen would be able tow in this task for Hogwarts. He knew what he was doing, if anybody could win it Airen could. Losing the third task had made him angry at himself, he should have done better.

When Doctor Nettle said what the task was he paled a bit. Acromantulas were deadly, this was not going to be a walk in the park. Airen was taking it in stride though, and was focusing before the task began. Humphrey wanted to tell, but he decided to stay quiet for now.

Dimitrius shifted uncomfortably. Those pheromones had soaked into his clothes a bit too nicely he thought, and they didn't make him feel any better. Acromantulas! He wasn't a fan of spiders in general, but of course he would be fighting giant ones because fate hated him. He cast a look over at his counterpart before nodding grimly.

Taking the boys outstretched hand, he smiled. "And to you, my friend." He gripped his wand, running through spells and enchantments he knew. He caught the other boy touching a sheath, and he knew that perhaps he would fair better with a sword.

If only he could remember that spell that cast off spiders. He doubted it would work effectively against such giant creatures, but he figured it was his best bet. Closing his eyes, he pulled on the collar of his shirt. Fidgeting was better than just standing there and waiting for certain death to come.

Odette watched the task go forth with an air of excitement. This was the first task that she really sat down and watched, and she was ready to see Airen do well for Hogwarts.

When the Doctor said what the task was going to be, Odette gasped. This was going to be extremely dangerous. Acromantulas were beyond deadly. The pheromones would get them murderous. Odette watched what would happened with worried eyes.

Fourth Task (Open to all) Empty Re: Fourth Task (Open to all)

Vladimir was here in case Dmitrius needed some help and him to take over, he would gladly do the tournament instead of letting Seffi do it, she was too young and he wondered if it had really been a wise move to allow her to enter the tournament, even as a reserve.

When he heard what the task was, he blinked a little bit and hoped that Dmitrius and the challenger were going to be okay with doing this task, it seemed to be one of her hardest, minus the Head of House Duel last time they fought.

Raven chuckled when she saw the boy that she had fought in the last task, he seemed to have some nerve showing his face here, but she was restrained to sitting in the Professors stands, she wished she could have a rematch of that fight, just not bound by the rule not to cause serious damage...where was the fun without that.

Laughing coldly when the two students looked on at the spiders with fear, she could not wait for the task to begin and she stepped forwards towards the enclosure, when both students had said that they were ready and consenting, she released their restraints, and out came the spiders, ready to attack the two students.

Airen opened his eyes as he heard the restraints being released. He saw Raven Drake there. He still had yet to find out why she saw him as prey. He shifted his gaze from her to the Acromantulas. The one in front of him opened and an Acromantula burst out from the crate, breaking a little of the door. It looked around the stadium before it settled its eyes on Airen. The pheromones ignited something in it and it charged at him.

He thought quickly about what he could do. Either run for his life or fight back. Running? No, that would give it more reason to chase him. Besides, it's way faster than him. He would have to fight. He knew what he had to do. He waited until the spider was close enough. If he timed it wrong, then he's a mid morning snack.

He couched slightly as the spider came closer to him. It was almost on top of him when he simply leaped to the side of it. It ran right past him. He took that moment of being out of it's sight to draw out his sword. Airen watched as the Acromantula turned around charged at him again. Time when he dodged it, he sliced off a leg of the beast.

Now injured, the giant spider went into a blind rage and rather than charging and missing, it jumped at him. Airen dodged again, but now the spider had him in its sights. It followed him, snapping its mandibles at every chance it got. Airen walked backwards, keeping his eye trained on it. He didn't see the wall behind him and backed up into it.

"Fiamma," he whispered to the blade as the spider approached him. The blade began to have flames dancing off it. He waved the sword around, flames trailing behind, forcing the spider to back up. When he was back into the openness of the stadium.

Throughout the whole little fight, he noticed that the spider walked with its eyes facing forward. It hardly ever turned its head. It gave him an idea. He canceled the flame and charged at the Acromantula. He jumped on its back and pointed his sword down at it. With a quick thrust, he embedded the diamond blade into its head, giving it a quick and almost painless death. He sheathed his sword and walked away from the dead spider.

Fourth Task (Open to all) Empty fourth task

Melody paled but while Raven Drake's chuckle had unnerved her she was really afraid of the giant spider and she relaxed after Airen killed it.

Fourth Task (Open to all) Empty Re: Fourth Task (Open to all)

Post by Dimitrius Skaia Sun Jul 15, 2012 6:30 am

Dimitrius had to say that he wasn't surprised that his Potions Professor had been the one to release the restraits from the giant spiders. It was something he thought that she would take great pleasure in. He made sure not to focus on the other boy's fight, but stay locked on his own, especially since the Acromantula was walking out of the crate like it owned the place.

He paled and something told him that this Acromantula would no doubt toy with him before killing him - and not quickly either. Straightening himself up, he made sure to show no fear. That would just get him killed that much quicker, and he'd rather not die in this tournament. His Acromantula caught the whiff of pheromones that came from Dimitrius, and the slow walk of confidence turned into the gait of a crazed animal.

When it was close, Dimitrius crouched and sprang to the side, rolling and jumping to his feet. With the spider facing away from him, Dimitrius pointed his wand at it. "Arania Exumai!" He watched with a smile as the spider shot forward and into a wall. It appeared dazed for a moment before it became even angrier as it turned and shot toward Dimitrius again.

The boy shook his head, not expecting an easy fight from the monster. He crouched again, but the spider seemed to expect the movement and struck out with a leg, kicking Dimitri back. He rolled and shook his head, looking over at the spider who was coming at him again. Staggering to his feet, he called out, "Bombarda!" This caught the spider off guard as one of it's legs was blown off.

Making a face, Dimitrius circled the off-balance spider, who was getting angrier by the second. It seemed that none of the dirt on Dimitri's body was covering the scent of the pheromones. "Bombarda!" The spider teetered again as it lost another one of it's legs. Not standing for this, the spider jumped at Dimitri and landed on him.

"Arania Exumai!" He croaked, sending the spider flying up and away from him. Panting at his near-death experience, seeing as how if that spider got it's teeth into him it would have been, Dimitrius steeled himself to finish this. "Bombarda!" The spider was tiring, and so was Dimitrius.

When it ran at him again, Dimitri had had enough. "Expulso!" Dimitrius covered his face as the spider exploded, coating him with guts and blood. "Ugh this is rank." A sense of relief overtook him as he realized that he had lived. And then he passed out.

Fourth Task (Open to all) Empty Re: Fourth Task (Open to all)

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Tue Jul 17, 2012 12:52 am

Raven could see that the fight was now over and she rushed onto the battleground, kicking the large bodies of the spiders who were now more than dead, she saw the boy, Airen and she gave him a rather twisted smile, tipping her top hat to him as she walked on top of the dead spider that he had killed.

Turning to the rest of the crowd she spotted several faces she knew, including the Smith child, no doubt here to cheer Airen on in his task. Grinning wickedly she announced;

"THE WINNER OF THE FINAL TASK IS AIREN AUDITOREN."

Before jumping through the air and landing next to the limp, passed out form of Durmstrang's own champion;

"The overall winner of the tournament is Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry, as they won the first and fourth task, drawing the second."

With that Raven apparated into the hospital wing with Dmitrius tucked under her arm, leaving the rest for the Doctor to deal with.
