Character Background:

Nicholas' mother is a witch who works on new spells from home and his father is a business owning muggle. His father is very accepting of the magical world even if it isn't always accepting of him. Between the work of the two of them, Nicholas has always been well off.

His mother started teaching him the basics of spell-crafting when he first learnt how to read. Because of this he has a better understanding of how spells work than most children his age. He was home schooled through his first year in order for his mother to teach him the basics her way, with more focus on how the spells directed the magic than the spells themselves.

While researching spells and spell crafting in his first year Nicholas gained entry to the restricted section to sate his curiosity. Stubbling across a dark tome, Nicholas was entranced. Finding himself unable to look away, he read the book from cover to cover in minutes. From then on he focused on the Dark Arts. The powers granted by the arts, the way the magic was moved by the spells, it all became so interesting to him. Power became the thing that he focused on. The power behind light and dark spells was almost the same but the dark spells used it more effectively. And he would use the power to gain more of it. More and more until the secrets of all magical power were his, making him the most powerful wizard alive.
