A First Glance - Page 2 Empty Re: A First Glance

Post by Charlotte Smith Sat Jan 07, 2012 7:38 am

Charlotte grinned and almost as soon as the idea of having a community under a sea took her by storm and she bit her lip as she thought about how wonderful and how weird it would be for that to happen, to look up and see not sky but water and waves.

Letting her imagination run away with her she only caught small glimpses of what the conversation was about, snapping out if it she hears it had turned to muggle music, something which she knew little about.

"I don't really follow Muggle music but I have heard of the Beatles I looked at some of their photography work once."

Charlottes eyes widened and felt a little scared by answering this question, she didn't want to be cast out but she couldn't be rude and ignore it, as normal when she got nervous she felt her eyes turn a grey colour, from their normal red.

"I was raised to believe they were beneath me, but I don't think that, as long as they keep away from Wizardkind in a negative way I have no problem with them."

Tabi thought about it for a minute she guess she forgot who she was surrounded by, but then it was nice to talk about something out of the main stream. Besides it was only about 1 muggle band from a millions years ago so who really care. Music is music.

"Charlotte I have to agree with you. I was taught that too, but me being one of those who do the opposite of what my parents want." Tabi stated

Thinking about what Tess said made her think of how many times she wanted to place spells around her rooms so she couldn't hear them. But her parents forbid them to use magic with supervision and Tabi couldn't help to remember the first time she had disobeyed this rule and choose not to have that kind of problem again.

"And Tess I do not know about you but that classical music that I have to listen to all day everyday around my house abouts puts me to sleep" Tabi couldn't help but laugh

She felt that perhaps she had brought up a subject that could cause a rift. She personally was raised in a way that not many had before. While she was living in the "muggle" world, it was neither normal nor magical because of her parent's choice to isolate them. Her magic was always uncontrollable and so being home schooled did prevent her to interact with humans.

"I've never really talked to many Muggles before" she murmured. "But my parents always told me...told me that they were decent enough, just ignorant as to their surroundings"

Of course her grandfather's rantings now made sense. He ranted a lot about Muggles and their dirtiness, she simply thought about the youth that he disliked, but her family always kept her away from him.

Pxyis had watched and listened to the conversation with thoughtful eyes. "Excuse me," Pxyis suddenly said, her voice demanding attention as she stared at them each piercingly. "But my two best friends are muggle, and they are perfectly alright- in fact we could learn quite a lot from muggles. They have created a world that they can live in with relative ease that has no wizard or witch magic at all. That in itself is quite magical, I think that people under-estimate muggles because they don't have wands," Pxyis then gave each a look that dared them to say anything against her statement.

She was surprised at the outburst, but it was to be expected. She looked at her, her smile gone, but she found herself responding.

"T-they didn't say anything bad about muggles...you do realize, most of...our kind, w-we don't socialize with Muggles? I've only heard things from my parents and while they are...decent, I-I do think they're ignorant to the magic around them" she said softly.

She wondered why she was actually defending her stance but...but it was what her parents told her. She never said that they were beneath her, she never said they were ignorant about everything, but just oblivious to magic. She had lived in an almost Muggle way, inside there was no technology, but there was little magic as well, at least in her eyes. Pxyis comment bothered her, perhaps from what her grandfather would yell and rant when he saw a muggle at their doorstep.

"I-I don't see my opinion as wrong" she said looking down at her bed. "but if I have offended you...then pardone moi"

Post by Corinne Girard Sat Jan 07, 2012 1:04 pm

Corinne opened the door, and upon seeing a bunch of girls in obviously a touchy subject, the blondie with wavy hair staring defiantly at one who was staring down at her lap. "'Allo," Corinne greeted the girls, though her tone was cold as if she couldn't care less about their existence. She then walked straight past them all with the walk of a Queen, like her mother had taught her. She sat down on the bed next to blondie with the wavy hair and stared down each of the girls, studying them closely.
Though they were all alright, she wouldn't call them pretty. Though Corinne rarely considered anyone pretty other than herself and her twin.
"And what are vee talking about?" She said in her French accent.

"I never said your opinion was wrong, just that I disagree with it. Muggle's homes are just like ours, except with electricity. They love each other, they care for their families, they hang out with their friends. Not saying any of you don't like muggles, just letting you know that my best friends are muggle, and I find their way of life magical in a muggle way," said Pxyis, wondering why Tess stuttered so much, though she felt pride for her distant family member that she had stood up for herself.

She opened her mouth to apologize to Tess, when the door opened as she turned to see a girl standing there. She turned and walked across the room after saying 'Hello' in a French accent, and she looked very snobby walking like that. Pxyis held back her laughter at the girl, and when she asked her question Pxyis decided to respond.

"We were just discussing muggles and our thoughts on them," Pxyis said to this girl. "What is your name? Mine's Pxyis," Pxyis then asked.

"I," Corinne said in her most proud tone. "Am Corinne Girard, one of ze last Pure-blooded French family een France," Corinne smirked at the girls, as if expecting them all to grovel at her feet.
"Muggles?" Corinne's tone turned to disgust as she flicked her brown hair over her shoulder. "I do not care for muggles, zey are insignificant to me," Corinne wrinkled her nose at the thought of someone liking a muggle. "'oo cares for zee muggles?" Corinne scoffed, before laughing. "Imagine, eef someone was... friends with a muggle!" Her laughter stopped as she crossed her legs daintily and stared at Pxyis with a snobbish look.

Pxyis was stunned at Corinne's words. Not only was she up herself, snobby and already rude, but she was obviously one of those pure-blood families that think muggles are the scum of the Earth.

When she began to laugh at the prospect of someone being friends with a muggle, she clenched her teeth and leapt up from her bed, towering over Corinne who sat on the bed as if she was the Queen of the world. "How dare you! My best friends are muggle! Who do you think you are, coming to this place after we have all begun to break free of the mould of normal pure-bloods and decide that you are the Queen of this world!" Pxyis already despised this girl, with her up-herself looks and her snobbish tone.

Corinne slowly and menacingly stood up and stared down her nose at Pxyis. "'ow dare you talk to me like zat! I am Corinne Girard, nobody disgraces Corinne Girard!" She was enraged at Pxyis' words. "Muggles are ze scum of ze Earth! Why do you think zat we witches and wizards hide from zem! Because zey would beg and plead with us because zey are pathetic and wish to be us!" Corinne hissed, her eyes narrowed in hatred.

She was wide eyed as the new girl entered.

So this is why Slytherin has their reputations she thought frowning.

She winced hearing the girl slam muggles, after all that Pyxis commented on, and how they cared about them.

"Bonjour" she murmured.

She had heard somewhat from this family....at least her mother, being born in France and lived there once, told her about the families and their prejudices. Soon, soon the room grew tense and she bit her bottom lip feeling that there would be an argument.

"I'm sorry I brought this up" she whispered.

Pxyis didn't want this to escalate into a full on shouting match, so she lowered her tone and took a deep, calming breath. "You're wrong, and you'll find that out the hard way," Pxyis then turned her back on Corinne and sat back down, smiling at Tess weakly.

"Change of subject, perhaps?" Pxyis asked, and wracked her brain for a topic. "So, Tess, how are you related to the Black/Malfoy family," she asked.

Corinne was shocked and offended to say the least. This, Pxyis girl seemed to be under the impression that she was better than Corinne. Corinne rolled her eyes as Pxyis turned her back on her and made small talk with Tess, and instead leant over and grabbed her quill and a piece of parchment. She placed the parchment and quill on her bedside table, before beginning to scribble down random pranks that she had in store.

For that she found herself letting out a sigh of relief and began talking, ignoring the heated tension of the room, especially when Corinne grew quiet. She knew that quiet was normally good, but, but it was not good in Slytherin. She looked back discretely and then turned with a guilty smile towards Pxyis as in 'Sorry I even brought this up' look.

"Well, my family branched off from the bond of Black and Malfoy family marriage of Lucius Abraxas and Narcissa, I believe. Ten generations down, I believe, the marriage of Thomas Malfoy and Fleur Martin is the farthest I can go to. I-I don't really care" she said softly. "What I do know is that from my father's side, is where the Malfoy/Black union begins and on my mother's side, Bellerose, a long lineage of French wizards"

She rolled her eyes and rubbed her temples.

"Sorry, I sound like a blowhard" she said shaking her head.

Tabi could not believe what was going on in front of her. What started out as a harmless question and answer has urned into a mess and she thought maybe she should step up and try to deal with some things. Tabi jumped up off of her bed with her wand handy if needed.

"First of all Tess it was not completly your fault. I was the one that brought up muggle bands and started the conversation. Second Pxyis I do not recall any one of us stay that muggles were beneath us we were just comparing things." With that off her chest Tabi thought best to deal with the new comer.

"Now Corinne you just need to calm down, everyone in here is entitled to their believes and you just walked into the middle of a coversation and really do not know the background of what we were talking about. So we all just need to calm." Tabi was trying to hold onto her composer the best she knew how, and that was talking things out loud.

In the mist of her rant she didn't realize that Tess and Pxyis were dicussing their family information.

"Sorry didn't mean to interupt with my rant. My father is a cousin to Molly Weasley other than that I cannot tell you much"

Pxyis was interested in both Tabi and Tess' heritage. "Wow, a Weasley and some Malfoy's," Pxyis laughed and shook her head. "My father told me stories about how for a few generations, Weasley's and Malfoy's held a grudge, just because the Weasley's were, 'Blood Traitors'. I think that most pure-blooded british," Pxyis shot a glare at Corinne. "Wizarding families are Blood Traitors nowadays anyways, I most certainly am. Oh and Tabi, I was just pointing out that my best friends are muggle and that I think that there lives are just as magical as ours, but in a different way. Family, and friendship is a magic that not even witches and wizards can use a wand to weave, but instead we use our hearts, which is something muggles have as well," Pxyis again glared at Corinne, before turning back to Tabi and Tess.

Charlotte let her mouth drop as the conversation went on and she bit her lip, not knowing quite what to do she just clutched her pastels and hoped that the hostility would die down soon her eyes now completely grey, maybe hanging out with girls wasn't such a good idea.

The argument was over something obviously important to the girls so maybe it was worth it?

Deciding since she was no longer really in the conversation she would sketch in order to bring her nervousness back down and hopefully get her eyes back to the normal colour.

As she was a bit late in saying hello to the new girl Charlotte sent a friendly smile her way and a quick introduction: "Sorry, I'm Charlotte Smith, I kind of spaced out for a moment there, nice to meet you."

Corinne raised her head to this Charlotte girl, and her lip curled in a menacing way. "I am Corinne Girard," was all she said, in the coldest tone she could muster before dropping her eyes back to her scheming. She began to absently draw Pxyis being hit in the head by a snowball.
"Mère sera entendu parler de cette," Corinne muttered to herself, sending a dirty look Pxyis' way. "Comment osez-elle me parler comme ça à moi!" Corinne continued murmuring things to herself in french whilst sketching several drawings of Pxyis being attacked by various objects.

Charlotte almost flinched at the look that Corrine gave her, it looked like Professor Romain might have been onto something with what he was talking to her about in his office, her heart hammering slightly she decided that she wasn't going to be treated like this when she had done nothing wrong.

"I'm sorry, but, I don't really understand what I did in order to deserve a look like that, I apologise for not saying hello straight away but, there's really no need for that."

Biting her lip Charlotte clenched the box of pastels harder in her hand and her ears pricked up at what the girl said, mouth agape slightly she blinked at the girl for a while.

Pyxis needed to know that she might be in trouble so Charlotte moved over to her and tapped her gently on the shoulder, a friendly smile on her face, sitting down beside her she said, quietly.

"I know what she said, she's going to tell her mother about you, but, I'll defend you Pyxis, you didn't do anything wrong in my account."

"Hi Charlotte welcome to the room. Hopefully it will not always be this interesting, but then again you never know."

Tabi could not help be notice Corinne had taken out a pad and was drawing on a pad on her lap. Tabi of course had to be curious this was a girl she would need to know at some point she remembered her father talking very highly about the Girard family

She walked up to Corinne to see what she was doing and slightly whispered into her ear. "You know if some people didn't understand French they might think you were trying to hex someone."

Corinne completely ignored Charlotte's comment, not caring for the girls opinion of her and continued to draw Pxyis being attacked, before she heard footsteps heading her way and she raised her head to see Charlotte sit next to Pxyis and Tabi walk over to her.
"You know if some people didn't understand French they might think you were trying to hex someone." Tabi whispered into her ear, the breath of said girl tickling Corinne's neck and she turned to Tabi, a smirk on her face as she arched an eyebrow.
"Oh, et do you speek ze magnifique language of zee French?" Corinne inquired, scooching over so that Tabi could take a seat next to her.

Pxyis could hear that horrible girl, Corinne, muttering in French, and she recognised a few words such as 'Mum' 'How dare she' and 'me'. Pxyis could feel nerves bundle up in her stomach, for the Corinne girl was indeed a force to be reckoned with.
Her fears were confirmed when Charlotte walked over and sat down next to her with a friendly smile, before warning her of Corinne and offering support. Pxyis smiled and felt warmth and a budding friendship for this girl. "Thanks, Charlotte. I really do appreciate that, and I hope we can be friends," Pxyis said, before adding with a small grin, "Let's hope every days not like this,"

"It's nice to be back Tabi, I'll try to stay here this time." she chuckled

Charlotte smiled happily, she would rather that the girl just ignores her than was mean to her, after all, if you had nothing nice to say than why say anything? She was glad however that she seemed to have a few people who didn't think badly of her.

"That would be lovely Pyxis, I would like that very much."

With Pyxis next to her Charlotte didn't feel so nervous any more and she felt her eyes slowly creep back to being their red colour, opening and closing the box of pastels Charlotte tried to dispel the last of her nervousness.

"I hope so too, I doubt it will though, after all, people who don't like others will avoid them from now on I would think." she smiled slightly wider

Tabi thought it was a nice jester for Corinne to move over for her so she decided to sit down and answer her question.

"I can understand it better than I can speak it, but with you around I might be able to speak it better. Il sera amusant de confondre les gens de la chambre." Leshia thought about it and laughed.

Pxyis smiled back at Charlotte, glad to have made a friend and someone who she felt as if she could rely on. The nervous look on Charlotte's face began to disappear, and she opened up her pastels box. Pxyis wished to know more about Charlotte, and so she turned to face her.
"You seem to be passionate about your art, could I see a piece?" Pxyis asked, tilting her head slightly and smiling warmly at Charlotte. She was truly excited to see Charlotte's artwork, for she dearly hoped that it was good, and she could compliment Charlotte to no end.
The thing about Pxyis was when it came to her friends, she loved giving out compliments, it made her feel warm and fuzzy inside.
