Bumping Into You Again (Lars and Christielle)

Lars wrapped himself up in extremely warm clothes before deciding to go on a walk around the crystal lake. This year he was staying at Durmstrang for the Christmas Holidays, so he'd packed tons of warm things. He had his gloves, hat, scarf, coat, thick pants, and layers on underneath. Not many places had colder winters than they did here.

It was nice to walk, the cool air helped him to think. There was something about it that gave your thoughts a clarity. What he was thinking about, or rather who he was thinking about, would be easy to guess if you knew him. He was thinking about Seffi, because he missed her terribly even though they saw each other all the time. Whenever she wasn't around he felt an ache in his chest to be with her.

The lake was completely frozen, and it had been for a while. Deciding to linger a bit before continuing the walk, he leaned against a tree and gazed out over the landscape. This area was beautiful, even if everything was buried in snow. That was when he heard footsteps approaching him.

Christi didn't bother packing her things, even if her father told her to. She didn't want to be with him for the holidays, and anything he was gonna show her was probably dangerous stuff, so she decided not to go. It was worth it now, but she was sure her father would go all crazy again that she didn't go and leave the house for a month.

Christi smirked at the thought as she walked towards the lake. She pulled her coat closer to her. She might have been wearing thick winter clothes, but she was still freezing. When it's winter in Durmstrang, people rarely enjoyed it because it was extremely cold.

She ducked under a huge branch but, unfortunately, she fell into the frozen lake. The edge of it, anyway.

Christi groaned and wiped the snow off her clothes as she went the other way and climbed the stairs. She supposed the stairs were for whoever wanted to check out the lake, but she figured it was more used by the people who fell into the lake and needed to go back. She sighed and approached a random tree, not even noticing someone was there. She nearly leaned against it, but then she saw Lars.

"Lars?" she said, rubbing her eyes as she did so. She hadn't seen him except for classes, and he was usually late when he arrived, so she was a bit surprised to see him standing there. "Aren't you going to go back for the Holidays?" Christi asked.

Lars was shocked when he saw Christielle approaching with snow all over her coat and pants. She must have slipped and fell at some point on her way over here. It was a bit icy out in patches, so he wasn't surprised. Then she wiped the snow off, still oblivious to him. Finally, she saw him and he grinned. She looked like she was doing well.

"Hey Christielle, it's great to see you." he said happily. He decided to give her a quick hug, they only saw each other in class usually. "Nope, I'm staying here this year. What about you?" he asked her. "I'm surprised somebody else came out in this cold to be honest."

Christi grinned. "Good to see you, too," she replied. "My dad wrote to me, actually, but I didn't wanna come with him again to some dangerous place for the holidays. And, besides, he's probably just gonna show me some dangerous dark arts stuff. I don't wanna waste a good holiday."

She snorted and rolled her eyes. "No, actually I was just... doing stuff," Christi told him. To be honest, she was only here to practice turning into her Animagus form, since very few students came her during the holidays. "So, what are you doing here?" she asked.

Lars thought she looked pretty much the same, though her body was a bit more mature now than it had been. He nodded when she explained about the situation with her dad. "Oh yea, I know what you mean. My parents like doing dangerous dark arts stuff as well. I didn't feel like being pushed by them into experimenting with it so I stayed here." he confided in her.

"Stuff? Well, you don't have to tell me." he said, shrugging. "Me? I was just going for a walk to clear my head. Take my mind off how much I miss Seffi Dresner, if that's even possible to do." he replied, laughing. "I really like that girl."

Christi sighed and nodded. "It's annoying how most parents are interested in the Dark Arts. I mean, come on, be normal for once," she said with a smirk. "This is the best place if you need any peace and quiet. And this is usually the only place where you could have privacy."

She grinned. "Seffi, again? She looks nice, I have her in two of my classes," she said, "and, really? Like? You talk about her like you're... I dunno, maybe in love?" Christi laughed, too.

Lars knew that a lot of the parents here at Durmstrang were associated with Dark Arts. It was kind of annoying, but there wasn't anything he can do about it. "I know, Durmstrang is notorious for Dark Arts though. We shouldn't be surprised." he said reasonably. "Yea, it seems like a good place for it." He wondered what she needed privacy for.

Now he was blushing a light pink, grinning like an idiot. "It never stopped being Seffi. Nice? More like beautiful, gorgeous, amazing, stunning..." he said, trailing off into thoughts of her. Shaking his head to return to the conversation, he nodded. "Maybe I am, I definitely have a major crush on her. I have ever since I met her. Perhaps I am in love, I don't know. Still haven't worked up the guts to ask her out. Though we have been on things that might be considered dates by some." he said, shrugging.

Christi shrugged. "I guess not," she replied. She sighed and leaned against the tree beside Lars. She raised her eyebrow at him. "Ah, you are definitely in love. Ask her out before she finds some other guy. You two look good together," she added.

"If you really like her, ask her out. But if you haven't found your guts yet, then leave her to find some other guy. No pressure." Christi grinned at him.

Lars knew he was procrastinating on this. He'd already told her he wanted to date her eventually. "We've talked about dating, and she seems to want to. I just never actually asked her on a date, I really should." he said softly. Now he'd said it he knew he would the next time he saw her.

"No, uh uh! No way am I letting her away without asking her out. I'm going to as soon as I see her. Nobody's going to steal her away." he told her emphatically. Then he realized this is exactly what she'd wanted him to do and grinned. "You played me, didn't you?"

Christi nodded, but then she nearly burst out laughing at his reaction. Then when he understood what she was doing, she laughed so hard she fell to the ground and nearly rolled once more towards the lake. "Oh - wow - alright - you.. you - do that..." she said in between laughs.

She stopped laughing after a few minutes. "Good idea, but start small. Ask her out to lunch first," she suggested. "Or... whatever you think is good."

Lars blushed a bright red, totally embarrassed. She didn't have to laugh that much. Christielle had almost rolled into the lake for goodness sake. "I will." he said happily, thinking of how wonderful it would be if Seffi did say yes after all. They would have a great time he knew.

Finally she stopped laughing and he listened to her suggestion. "That's probably a good idea. Though I might just be bold and ask her out to dinner. I'm so nervous, do you think she'll want to be my girlfriend? What's your professional opinion? You've seen us together from time to time." He wanted a bit of reassurance that this wouldn't blow up in his face.

Christi grinned. "My professional opinion, hm?" she said. "Well, I think that it would succeed," she replied, "but if not, then it would blow up in your face. Don't worry, though, I'll be there when it blows up." Then suddenly her grin was wider now, and she added, "To laugh at your face...... alright, alright, I was kidding!"

Then she stopped grinning. "But, really, don't be so uneasy. If fate, destiny, - whatever - decides that you two are good with each other, then it won't blow up in your face. Don't think about the date thing too much, though. I've learned that if you think things through too much, you could fail miserably," Christi said.

Lars' jaw dropped, he couldn't believe she'd just said that. He looked mortified by what she'd said, which he was. Load of help she was, none at all. Well...maybe just a little. "I really hope it doesn't blow up in my face. You better not laugh at me if it does, that is not funny." he told her seriously. "She's my best friend, if it didn't work out..." he said, thinking about it. His life would be ten times worse off, no, a hundred times.

"It's the first time I'm asking a girl out. You always sound and feel like an idiot when you tell a girl you like her Christielle." Lars told her wisely. "I've tried and felt stupid, so I backed out. Taking her advice, he nodded. "I'll try not to think about it too much. Just let what will happen happen. Thanks for the pep talk, I appreciate it." he replied, and hugged her, giving her a kiss on the cheek. "I needed a kick in the butt to get a move on."
