Background Information:

Keiba is the product of a freak accident gone wrong. In the summer between her third and fourth years at Hogwarts, she stumbled across something no one should ever think to find outside the walls of the Ministry - a Time Turner. This small discovery changed the course of her life and to this day, nobody actually knows how it happened, but it did; the Time Turner malfunctioned to such extremities that it dissolved into her skin and literally became a living thing inside of her, in her bloodstream, attached to her muscles and dusting over her organs - mainly around her heart, the most important muscle with the head of blood supply. To cut a long story short, Keiba has been picked up from one period of time and dropped smack bang into the middle of another, just at random. She can't seem to find a pattern around it, but all she knows is that she's never gone further into the future than the time she's been in the past.

Keiba lived through parts of both muggle World Wars; she was there for an hour or two between the Dark Lord's fall and Harry Potter's influx of fame in the Wizarding World; she read the newspapers in the shops a week after Lord Voldemort returned; she saw Queen Victoria's coronation, and stayed for a month as a palace maid before zapping back into a different era. Keiba first-handedly witnessed many world-changing events, but she never stayed long enough to firmly establish decent relationships, and when she did the next day she was torn into a different reality. Over the past four years, she's had to mature very quickly and very quietly, and very much on her own.

The only way Keiba can tell when she's about to time-travel is that her heart beats faster and starts to burn, like somebody putting their feet on the accelerator and the brake of the car at the same time. That gives her about a thirty second warning before she jumps time. She's tried to make the most of it, learning as much about the times she was in as she could, no matter how odd and out of place she seemed to the people she was with. About six months was the longest time she spent in a particular period - that being Medieval England, right in the middle of an invasion and an establishment. Because the time-jump only moves her through time, and NOT space, she's been caught in some odd positions before - once she found herself squashed between two walls and had to manoeuvre herself out with her magic.
