Unpacking (Open)
Jadzia sighed as she sat down behind her desk. Her first class was finished and had been a great success. Mr. Zeverai had shown great skill with the Impediment jinx. MOre then she had really expended from the young boy. He would be one to keep an eye on for a possible defense apprentice.
Jadzia looked around her small office. The bookshelves were still pretty bare, as most of her library sat in boxes on the ground, just inside the door. Her desk was already cluttered with piles of papers, from essays needed to be graded to several correspondences from her old team. She was still communicating with her team that she had led on the war front, acting as a defense consultant. They trusted her strategy and eye for possible weaknesses in their defense.
Deciding to ignore the paperwork for the time being, Jadzia opened up the first box of books. With a wave of her wand, each book began to find a place on the shelf, being arranged by topic and author. Many of these books had been left to her by her father and were deemed priceless in her eyes. They were protected by several charms to prevent any possible damage to them.
Halfway through the box, there was a knock on the door. Shelving the book that was in midair, Jadzia called out, "come in."

Tarragon didn't know what had brought him to Professor Krulle's office, but his feet had brought him here. They're first lesson had been okay, but he needed to check he hadn't over stepped the mark with pretty blatantly teaching Alys the spell, as well as nearly knocking over his Lehrer.
He knocked on the door gently and waited.
"Come in."
He took his cue and entered the room cautiously, for what reason he didn't know.
"Lehrer Krulle" He acknowledged his teacher, examining her room and watching as the books magically put themselves away on the shelves.

Jadzia looked up from the box as the door slowly swung open revealing the blonde, Muhe student from her class.
"Ah, Mr. Zeverai. Please come in and mind the boxes." With a final flick of her wand, the box at her feet was emptied and the books shelved.
Quickly clearing off another box from a chair, she indicated for her student to take a seat as she settled herself behind her desk.
"And what might I be able to do for you this afternoon, Mr. Zeverai?" Jadzia asked, her eyes narrowing a bit in suspicion and curiosity. She knew that he already had figure out the jinx from earlier in class and wouldn't needed extra instruction. In fact, he had been helping his partner during the practice time, proving he was more then competent.

Re: Unpacking (Open)
Tarragon crossed the room and took the seat as instructed, his hands fumbling round a little.
"Lehrer Krulle, I, uh..." He paused, teachers made him nervous. "I just wanted to check that I hadn't over stepped the mark earlier with the demonstration and nearly knocking you over, as well as teaching Fraulien Diederich the spell. I mean, I know this is your job and I don't wish for you to think me a show-off. It's just I've been teaching Alys a few things in our spare time and I got a little carried away."
He looked up to try and judge the Lehrer's reaction, and also to find out if he would be punished for teaching Alys outside of lessons. It was controlled after all, and he would never teach her spells to harm another student.

Jadzia just barely stopped herself from rolling her eyes at the unneeded concern her student was exhibiting.
"Mr. Zeverai, did I not ask for a willing volunteer to demonstrate the jinx on me? I surely wasn't about to let one of you be the willing victim for our first class together. I should hope you'd have more self-preservation then to volunteer to be hexed by someone you'd just met."
Jadzia studied the young boy. His heart was in the right place and he'd proven himself to be more then capable.
"Now, I have no qualms with students helping each other outside of class. In fact, I highly encourage it. My only warning is none of you should use, nor experiment on each other, any spell or potion not taught in class. Should something go wrong, the results could be deadly. If there is something you come across in your studies related to defense, then you are free to seek me out with any questions regarding it. Is this clear, Mr. Zeverai?"

"Yes, Proffesor Krulle." He nodded at the same time to show he understood. "Do you miss it?"
Tarragon was looking at the pile of notes which he assumed were from of her old colleagues, not reading, but he could see they were official.
"I mean to say, you came here willingly, and gave up the fighting even though you are probably more than capable than most already out there, is all."
He looked away, he was never one to be good with words.

Jadzia wasn't expecting such a question from her young student. Did she miss it? She missed her team, yes. They hadn't been happy to see her go and deep down she felt like she deserted them a bit. Not completely. She was constantly "on call" should the need arise. But the action, the planning, constantly living on edge. Well, life at Durmstrang was different in comparison. Not bad... just different.
"I took this job, Mr. Zeverai, not because I was asked but because I know the difference it can make. Right now, you're protected here. Out there," Jadzia pointed out the window, "Out there, you face whatever come, head on. If you aren't prepared by the time you leave Durmstrang then you'll be guaranteed to fail. I've seen too many people fail to not do my best to prevent any more." Jadzia paused for a moment, knowing this wasn't a deeply personal response, but adequate for a professor-student conversation.
"While I miss those I love, whether they're on the battlefield or have already passed on, I know my purpose for this time."
She studied her student and decided it was best to change topics. "Now, Mr. Zeverai, what is your interest in Defense?"

Re: Unpacking (Open)
Tarragon looked his proffesor in the eye when he answered her question, something he'd never done before when talking about his past.
"I'd like to protect those who can't protect themselves, Professor. When I was younger, I wasn't protected from the sights of war, I was encouraged to embrace them. Therefore, I don't wish to see other young people like myself have to go through it unprotected. Thankfully I was never hurt, but that doesn't mean I knew of any ways to stop myself getting hurt in the first place. Defence is a much needed subject that is given too little lime light in such times."
He finished his short speech and looked away. Many people had judged him in the past, for the things he'd seen. The look of worry and displeasure haunted him at night, it wasn't his fault he'd seen such things after all, but no one thought like that.

Jadzia listened to her young student's passionate reply. There was no doubt that Tarragon had first hand experience with the war. Jadzia knew many of al ages that were also in his shoes. People who felt defenseless but wanting to not only protect themselves, but those around them.
"If I may ask, Mr. Zeverai, what has been your experience with the war?" Before she could help her student any more, she needed to know the details, even if the past was hard to bring up.

Re: Unpacking (Open)
Tarragon considered his answer for a short while. He wasn't prepared to tell Lehrer Krulle everything, he'd tell her what he'd seen and nothing else. He took in a deep breath to steady himself before answering.
"I have been present in camps across Germany where spies have been caught and tortured." He replied. "I have seen many people tortured in an unfair fight. Killed when theywere unarmed. I have seen enough to know that Defence is where I am most needed in these times."
He finished his short speech, still able to keep a strong image in front of his teacher, but he hadn't touched on the things that troubled him more, nor would he right now. He waited for Lehrer Krulle's response.

Jadzia's face didn't betray any of the emotions that she felt. Compassion, sympthany, and even agner on behalf of the student surged within her. She had been raised in war and battle, but never wished that lifestyle on even her worst enemy. It forced a child to grow up too quickly and become apathetic to the value of life. It was her constant battle.
"I understand, Mr. Zeverai. Probably more then you think." She was quiet for a moment and studied the youth in front of her. He has passion, that was sure. And motivation. She wasn't one to take on such young apprentices but Jadzia knew when to follow her gut.
"Mr. Zeverai, I want to propose an offer to you. I don't need nor want your answer right away. Term is ended soon but I would like you to seriously consider a defense apprenticeship for next year. This will not be easy. It will increase your workload a great deal and I have high expectations for any apprentice that I take on. However, if you agree, I will teach you all that I know, much of which we will not even begin to cover in your regular classes. By the time you graduate, you'll be able to apply almost directly for a masters in defense."
Jadzia had achieved her own masters at a young age and knew it was possible, but required a lot of extra work and commitment. She knew that should Tarragon accept but not show the level of commitment and drive that she required, the apprenticeship would quickly be revoked.

Tarragon looked at his Lehrer in disbelief. She wanted to take him on as her apprentice, he could help but grin like a cheshire cat. He was speechless for a while before finally realising he hadn't said anything.
"Thank you, Lehrer Krulle! I will think it over over the summer and give you an answer when next term starts." He hesitated, "Was there anything else you wished to discuss with me?"
He sat impatiently for her to tell him the answer. He really had to go and find Alys to tell her.

Jadzia couldn't help but let a small smile cross her face at Tarragon's excitement. "No, Mr. Zeverai. I do believe that will be all for this afternoon."
Jadzia waved her wand so that her office door swung open. It was time to get back to unpacking and preparing for her next class. She highly expected that come next term, her already busy schedule would be even more so with a new apprentice. However, Jadzia was never one to turn down a challenge.

"Bye, Lehrer Krulle!"
Tarragon ran off excitedly, he had to find Alys to tell her. He had already made his mind up, but his Lehrer told him not to tell her then. He closed the door behind him and sprinted off to the common room.
