Victoria was still in awe after the enchanting ride across the Black Lake. She had always imagined castles from her fantasy novels, but seeing one in real life was breath taking.

When the first years were all corralled into the castle and into the Great Hall, she could see many other students of different ages. She could see the separations of the houses, noting the different emblems on their robes. The students with snakes on their robes, Probably the Slytherins Humphrey mentioned, reminded her of the snobby girls back home. The others didn't look too bad, but she just hoped she didn't get placed with them.

When the sorting began she noticed how the ceiling moved and changed. Obviously it resembled the sky outside, she could see the resemblance through the large windows, but she felt it was somehow showing her own storm of feelings. Excitement for a new beginning and new people, curiosity about this new world, and fear that she may not fit in here. Luckily she came out of her musings right as the teacher read her name allowed. She slowly walked forward to the stool and the impending decision. When the hat was placed on her head she heard a voice that she wasn't sure everyone else could. "Do not fear. This is a place of unity and growth. Your mind is as strong as your heart and there is unyielding devotion to those who deserve it. You will find such students in GRYFFINDOR!"

Victoria couldn't suppress her instant joy and feeling of acceptance. In her few years at a public school and on various sports teams, she never really felt as if she was really part of something.
