Astronomy Lesson 4

Sofia had thought the last lesson went very well and she was ready for the next lesson. She was interested to find out how many new students she would have.

She sat back in one of the chairs and looked up at the stars that were up there. She loved how at peace they made her feel. This is how she was when the students arrived.

Haley was the first student to arrive to the Astronomy tower. She smiled to professor Slytherin when she walked into the room, and sat down in one of the chairs, looking up at the star, just like the professor was doing. She enjoyed looking at the stars. It made her feel small and meaningless, and somehow that comforted her in a weird way. Because it also made her feel like there was so much more in the world than what she and anyone else knew of.

When Leshia walked into the Astronomy tower she was glad to see that Haley was already there. She saw that Haley and Professor Slytherin were already sitting in the chairs leaning back and looking at the stars.

"Hi Haley, hows it going?" Leshia asked as she sat down.

Knowing how much he'd loved stargazing, Parker was glad to have signed up for Astronomy, though he knew it would be different some simply star gazing. He made the trek up the stairs to the tower, entering the room quietly, glad that both Leshia and Haley were already there.

The room seemed very relaxed and informal, which he thought was very nice. He gave a polite smile to Prof. Slytherin as he went to go take a seat nearby the two girls, pulling out his book and the assignment from the last class which he was told about to look up. He hoped that his staying on top of the work he'd missed would impress the teacher.

Haley grinned at Leisha as she came walking into the classroom, sitting down next to her.

"I'm good. Loving the view and all," she joked, still looking at the stars. "How about you? Ready for our last Astronomy lesson?"

Parker came walking into the classroom as well, and Haley waved to him, before, once again, returning to the stars.

Humphrey walked into the astronomy classroom on the top of the tallest tower of Hogwarts. "Hello, Professor Slytherin." he said. He remembered her as the Divination Professor, but she was the Astronomy Professor as well. He had forgotten about that part. "Humphrey Williams, we met last night in the library I believe." he explained.

Tabi walked into the tower all ready for her last lesson. She was hoping she could mend some fences before the end of the school year. Tabi just wished he sister would talk to her and even her housemates would go back to talking to her it was a lonely feeling.

Walking into the class she saw there was a couple of more students her than the last time. This time she walked over to where they were sitting and said hi to everyone.

"Hay Parker whats up?" Tabi said as she took the seat next to him.

"Hay Haley, Lesh. Oh and I cannot forget you too Humphrey."

Leshia smiled when she thought about this being the last lesson. She was excited about going home with her new friend she was sure her mom would be ok with it.

"I cannot believe that school is over with Haley, and I am hoping to learn a lot from this lesson."

At this point Leshia noticed that Tabi had walked into the classroom. Leshia had noticed that Tabi seemed a little lonely lately and was wondering if see had pushed away all of her friends. Leshia had heard she had been being quite a prick to the people of Slytherin.

Since Tabi and said hi to her she thought she might as well say hi back.

"Hello Tabitha, are you feeling better today?" Leshia smiled and turned back to Haley.

"Apparently she has not been feeling well lately, I think she might be depressed" Leshia whispered to Haley.

Haley grinned at Leisha. "I can't wait for the break! Seriously it'll be such a relief," she said happily, just as Tabi walked into the room.

She said hi to them, but Haley wasn't sure whether to reply or not. But when Leisha said hey, then she figured it was safe.

"Hello," she said with a smile.

Leisha then leaned closer to Haley and whispered that Tabi had seemed a bit sad and lonely later. Haley figured she could play a bit nicer than just 'hey' at that point.

Haley smiled up at Tabi with a much bigger smile. "And what are you doing in your holidays?" she asked both Tabi and Leisha.

She figured they would spend it together with their family, but one could never know, so she was really curious of what they would be doing. She didn't live around a lot of other magical people, even though she was full blood.

Tabi was glad that her sister and her friend was going to be nice to her.

"Hello Tabitha, are you feeling better today?"

Tabi smiled at the question, "I am feeling much better now, thank you."

Haley had asked Leshia and her what they were going to do for the holidays.

"I suppose we are going to do the same thing we do every year. I usually help dad work in the Apothecary."

Sofia was glad to see the Prewett sisters were getting along much better. she had known that Tabi had to be lost before she could be found.

Sofia sat up in her chair when Mr. Williams had come in and talked to her. "Yes Mr. Williams I remember you, and I also know you did not heed all of my advise, but that is for another day."

Sofia looked around and figured that pretty much the whole class was here, but then there might be some late comers but that was ok. With a wave of her hand the doors closed.

"Now class I assigned something as the end of the last lesson and so far I have only received one person's assignment. Now I know you were working on it, I saw you in the library. So who can tell me about the zodiac I assigned?"

He gave Haley a wave back after she had waved to him and when Tabi sat down beside him he gave her a smile. "Hey, Tabi, How're you?"

Parker looked up when prof. Slytherin sat up and began to speak. He looked back at the door when she closed it with just a wave of her hands, smiling a bit as he looked back at her. He was surprised to hear no-one else had turned in their papers. When she asked about the zodiac, his hand flew up, he'd done his research and wanted to prove it.

Victoria rushed into the class slightly out of breath. She walked over to Prof. Slytherin and handed her the parchment with the zodiac assignment. She hoped she wouldn't be penalized too much for turning it in late.

"Sorry for the tardiness, professor. It won't happen again." She smiled and hoped her paper was right. She had really enjoyed doing the research.

Crap Tabi thought she had worked on the assignment but forgot to turn it in. She thought maybe she thought maybe if she answered in class maybe she would get some points. So Tabi raised her hand.

Victoria noticed students raising their hands. She leaned over to Tabi, "What was the question?"

The new girl Victoria asked Tabi a question about the assignment the Professor Slytherin.

"At the end of the last lesson Professor Slytherin assigned us to research the controversial 13th Zodiac and that was the question she was asking. She was wanting an answer."

"Ah! Thanks, I owe you one." She shot her hand in the air, hoping she could make up for turning the assignment in a little late.

Haley almost facepalmed. How on earth had she managed to forget to turn in the assignment?! She then frowned. No, wait, she had it in her bag. Maybe she could give it to Prof. Slytherin right now? Haley nodded slightly to herself. Then she rose and walked over to professor Slytherin with the assignment.

"I'm sorry, I completely forgot to give it to you. Sorry," Haley repeated again and walked back to her seat.

Then she raised her hand along with the others, ready to answer her question.

"Well I have now received a few more assignments. Haley since you are just handing in the assignment I will give you five points. In the future I expect the assignments to be in my box before class begins."

Sofia looked around the room wondering who she would call upon, since Victoria was new she decided to call upon her.

"Now Ms. Victoria would you be kind enough to give us your answer."

Humphrey winced slightly as his friend Victoria was put on his spot. He hoped she had a good answer to Professor Slytherin's question.

Victoria put her hand down, now slightly nervous that she was actually called on. "Ophiuchus is the 13th constellation on the celestial equator, along with the other 12th that make up the zodiac. There's been a lot of controversy about the possibility that people have been following the wrong zodiacs for their entire lives but that's not really the case. People that follow the sidereal astrology will have to make some adjustments since their zodiac is based on the actual constellations, but tropical astrology actually follows the seasons on Earth. So those people don't really have to worry." She paused to catch her breath. She had been surprised at how much she had loved reading about a new discovery and was now very excited about what they would be learning. I hope I answered that right...

Humphrey was surprised by Victoria's answer. He knew she was bright, did not expect the vocabulary and complete answer. She answered it even better than he could have. "Wow, Victoria. I didn't know you were an astrology wiz." he said in shock.

Victoria blushed just a little at Humphrey's compliment. Public school had never been this exciting. It was as if she was learning new secrets every day! She looked up at the stars and felt closer to them now. She felt like all the hidden magic in this would could really help her be more than she'd ever thought she could be.

Sofia listened to her answer to the question, and was very impressed with the answer.

"Very good job Victoria, I am very impressed that you had done some research on the answer and you have not even been in class yet. I will give you 15 points for that answers. Now who let you in on the assignment, so I can award them too."

Sofia was really proud that someone who take the time to help a new classmate.
