Astronomy Lesson 3 Empty Astronomy Lesson 3

Post by Sofia Slytherin Mon Jan 09, 2012 9:52 am

Sofia Slytherin was her normal confident self as she sat up by her desk waiting for students to arrive. Currently it did not look as though many students have wanted to take this class, but she thought how would not want to study the stars and learn about the different constellations and their meanings.

Sofia decided to stroll around the room and make minor adjustment her and there, not much had changed in the room since she was here, but she wanted to make it a little more roomer.

With a flick of her wand she had 10 black leather recliners across the back wall, along with a end table along each of them. She preferred to be comfortable. With them being recliners this would make it easier for the students to relax and look above them to see the stars.

After all the changes that she made, she made her way back to the desk and waited for the first students to arrive.

Astronomy Lesson 3 Empty Re: Astronomy Lesson 3

Post by Haley Vilde Smith Wed Jan 11, 2012 9:05 pm

Haley walked up all the stairs to the Astronomy Tower. She was extremely tired after the first few stairs. Now, she was exhausted. When she reached the top, she stopped and held her side. She then took a deep breath and regained her composure. Then she kept walking and reached the Astronomy classroom. Then she frowned. No one was there. Well, with exception of the teacher. Haley took in the classroom in a second and noticed the black recliners and grinned.

"Good evening, professor," Haley said and stepped into the classroom, not sure if she should just go sit down, so she just stood there, waiting for professor Slytherin to tell her to sit down or something along the lines. Though there were no other students yet, Haley had a feeling that these classes would be great anyways. Stars were so fascinating, and professor Slytherin really looked like an agreeable teacher. Even with that name.

Post by Sofia Slytherin Thu Jan 12, 2012 12:53 pm

Sofia was sitting very patiently waiting for the class to arrive, she was beginning to think no one was interested in this class. If that was the case maybe she would have to figure something to do with her time until someone was interested.

After that thought she noticed that there was a student walk into the class a little out of breathe. It kind of made her smile. These kids have no clue these days, they are all out of fit. I am a little older than them and I can make that trip easy.

Then she heard a voice..

"Good evening, professor" said the young lady

"Good evening Miss Smith, Please take a seat anywhere that you like. We will just wait a little while longer and see if anyone else shows up." Sofia stated moving her hand around towards the chairs.

"So Miss Smith while we are waiting, would you care to to tell me what you care to learn in this class, what are you interested in?"

Astronomy Lesson 3 Empty Re: Astronomy Lesson 3

Post by Guest Fri Jan 13, 2012 10:41 am

For some reason Leshia just thought she didn't have enough classes and decided that she needed to add Astronomy to her list. She was really excited, she had always been a closet star watcher. She never told anyone becasue she thought that they would make fun of her.

Leshia has always been fascinated looking up and trying to find all the constellations, she even tried to research a little on where they came from.

Most people would think the walk up to the tower would be long and tiring, but Leshia loved to walk and could often be found wandering the grounds back at the Prewett Manor.

As she made it to the classroom she looked around and noticed all the black leather chairs there and then noticed Haley sitting there. She remembered Haley from Herbology class.

"Hi, Haley I believe this will be a very interesting class" smiled Leshia. "Better than having to have Mandrakes screaming in our ears." laughed Leshia.

"Hi, Professor Slytherin nice to met you."

Astronomy Lesson 3 Empty Re: Astronomy Lesson 3

Post by Haley Vilde Smith Fri Jan 13, 2012 12:05 pm

(OOC: Okay, fell off the charts... So, imma reply to every post with a bit of a jumpy time-line, you ya'll don't mind!!)

Haley took professor Slytherin's offer and sat down into one of the black chairs that had a overall view of not only the skies, but the classroom as well.

"So Miss Smith while we are waiting, would you care to to tell me what you care to learn in this class, what are you interested in?"

Haley smiled and nodded. "I really love everything that has to do with stars or unknown. I think it's because the stars are unreachable, and it gives a sense of magic that can never be destroyed, no matter what the facts are. I mean, of course magic exists and all, I'm sitting in Hogwarts after all, but it's a different magic. I hope you understand what I mean. And what I want to learn? Well, I'm not a sucker, sorry the phrase, to constellations, but I really want to learn everything, and to be able to tell which constellations that one is-" Haley pointed to a random one in the sky "-would be awesome. I also admire centaurs and their abilities to read the stars. And to be able to understand only some of it would be very appreciated by me. And I'm really interested in the future, which is why I also has signed up for Divination."

Haley grinned when she was done.

And then, Leshia walked into the room. Haley grinned; she was happy that she wouldn't be all alone. Teachers could be threatening! So she smiled to the girl at once.

"Hi, Haley I believe this will be a very interesting class. Better than having to have Mandrakes screaming in our ears."

Haley laughed. "I agree! Not that Herbology isn't great and all, but seriously, my ears are still sore! Even though I'm pretty sure my earmuffs were placed perfectly," she said with important and big eyes.

"Hi, professor Slytherin nice to meet you." Leshia also said.

Haley automatically looked at their professor at that, who smiled and said:

"It is a pleasure to met you too Miss. Prewett. Please take a seat and I will be waiting just a little longer to see if anyone else is going to arrive."

So, Haley turned to Leshia. "What do you think about the stars?" she asked, always enjoying hearing another person's perspective about something, especially the stars.

((OOC: Your not too far off the charts..lol))

After Professor Slytherin told Leshia she sat down next to Haley.

"What do you think about the stars?" asked Haley

"I just loved the stars, I have always had this secret fascination with them. It was one of those things that I kept to myself. It was a chance to be myself away from others." Leshia said with a smile.

"How about you?"

"Well, as I just said to professor Slytherin, the stars are like an unearthly magic that no one can destroy for anyone. So it's one of the safeplaces. I didn't like the fact that people went to destroy the magic of the moon by landing on it, and if they ever destroy the meaning of the stars that would actually hurt me. The stars are magnificent and lasts so long, and I can depend on them. So I really love the stars, but I think all of my best friends knows that," Haley explained. Then she frowned. "And I love to babble," she added with an innocent grin.

She then leaned back and looked up at the sky. She sighed. Haley really loved the stars. She then turned her head to Leshia.

"What do you look forward to learning?" she asked, with a big grin.

Sofia looked around and noticed there were only two students in the class, which up set her a little but not much becasue it would be a little easier to teach two becasue the class can be a little more relaxed.

"So Miss Smith and Miss Prewett which of the constellations would happen to be your favorite?" Sofia always thought it was hard to pick one favorite because she loved them all.

Leshia was really starting to enjoy this class. Maybe she would have a new friend, she liked making friends. She really wished that Salina was in this class, but she proabaly had enough classes to take already and didn't need any more.

"What do you look forward to learning?" asked Haley

"I just want to learn it all, I mean how there is so much out there I cannot imagine just naming one thing I want to learn." Leshia smiled as she looked up in the sky just in time to see a shooting star. "Cool did, you see that?"

Just as Leshia asked that question she heard Professor Slytherin ask a question.

"So Miss Smith and Miss Prewett which of the constellations would happen to be your favorite?"

Which one was her favorite, there were so many to choose from. "Professor Slytherin I love them all but since I have to choose one I would have to say Scoprio seeing it is the one I was born under."

Haley nodded at Leshia's reply. She agreed. Not the scorpio though. She looked up at the sky again. "I think I have to do the same. I was born under the Sagittarius, and loving to hunt and spy myself, I also think it fits me well. So, yeah, the Sagittarius," she said.

Then she turned to face the professor, waiting for what else she would say.

Astronomy Lesson 3 Empty Re: Astronomy Lesson 3

Post by Guest Sat Jan 14, 2012 10:42 am

Tabi had heard that the Astronomy class was pretty low on students so she thought that this would be a great class to learn, and she wondered how the teacher was.

She made the long trek up the tower steps and by the time she had made it all the way to the top she was pretty wore out, but she walked into the class.

Looking around the room she noticed it was already dark in the room so class must have already started so she took out her wand and cast "lumos" to help her see her way around.

She found the chairs off to the back of the wall and sat down next to one girl, not really sure who it was. Then she finally noticed the teacher sitting in front of them.

"Sorry Professor, I just got notice your class had room so I decided to join." Tabi smiled and sat in the black chair next to this girl.

This is going to be a very interesting class is what Sofia thought when she noticed the other Prewett sister sit down.

"Sorry Professor, I just got notice your class had room so I decided to join."

"That is perfectly fine Miss Prewett, It is nice of you to join us. This is Miss Smith, and this other lady I am sure you know is Miss. Prewett. But if you ladies do not mind seeing is there is so few of us, maybe it would be best if we were on a first named basis." Sofia smiled

"Usually I do not prefer this manner but I feel with two Miss Prewett's in the class it will be less confusing." Sofia settled back in her chair.

"So, Tabi I was asking the other girls what their favorite constellation is, what is yours. Leshia over here has already stated that hers was Scorpio after her birthday." Sofia had a hint of glee in her eyes

She was interested to find out how these two interacted with each other, outside of class she had heard rumors that they really didn't get along.

"Now Haley here has told us that Sagittarius is hers"

We were all discussing the constellations that we like. When Leshia looked up and noticed that someone had walked into the classroom with the lumos spell. She imagined on someone just coming in the room it was very dark.

She could not really tell who the person until she heard, "Sorry Professor, I just got notice your class had room so I decided to join."

Oh god no could her day get any worse once she heard that voice she knew exactly who it was, she had only heard that voice her whole life. It was a good thing that Haley was between them or there would be problems.

"You would not believe how glad that you are in this class" Leshia Whispered to Haley

"But if you ladies do not mind seeing is there is so few of us, maybe it would be best if we were on a first named basis. Usually I do not prefer this manner but I feel with two Miss Prewett's in the class it will be less confusing." Professor Slytherin said

Professor Slytherin was trying to make things a little on her self and less confusing by asking them of this. Which Leshia had to agree because it could get very confusing in this class.

Tabi did not realize that her sister was in the class until Professor Slytherin had made a comment about there being two of them. The classroom was dark enough that unless you really pay attention you can see who is in the class except the person right next to you.

"So, Tabi I was asking the other girls what their favorite constellation is, what is yours. Leshia over here has already stated that hers was Scorpio after her birthday."

Professor Slytherin asked Tabi this question and she was not sure how to answer that question. There were so many to choose from.

"Well unlike Leshia over there I don't care about my birth sign, I prefer the other ones out there, like Andromeda." claimed Tabi

Now the surface had been broken and it did not appear that there would be any big fights Sofia thought she would go ahead and start the discussion.

"Now that each of you have chosen a favorite I would like each of you to tell me what you know about that sign, and can you locate it in our lovely sky above us. Haley we shall start with you."

Sofia waited patiently for Haley to answer.

Haley looked to the door as someone came in. She smiled. She didn't mind more people at all.

"Sorry Professor, I just got notice your class had room so I decided to join."

Haley then noticed Leshia stiffen beside her. She turned to see what was going on. Leshia had an almost pained and most annoyed look on her face. Haley immediately wondered whether she was so happy about another person entering the class after all.

"You would not believe how glad that you are in this class"

Haley frowned, but had to smile a bit too. "No problem," she whispered.

Then she wondered; did Leisha have a real problem with her sister? Sure, it wasn't always that sisters got along, and it wasn't so surprising to Haley as she had a friend back home whose sister was a total mess. But still, it wasn't funny to watch either. But Haley sighed; Leisha was a very kind person, that much Haley had figured, so she wondered how unkind her sister was for her to like her so little. Haley sighed. It really wasn't her business, but she couldn't help but wonder if there was something she could do to make it better. But Haley had chosen to befriend Leisha, and she wasn't going to back down on that decision.

"Now that each of you have chosen a favorite I would like each of you to tell me what you know about that sign, and can you locate it in our lovely sky above us. Haley we shall start with you."

Haley bit her lip: locations weren't her best themes at all. So she had to think a bit, because she had found the Sagittarius on several occasions. She then looked up at professor Slytherin, and decided to go for honesty.

"Well, I'm not superb at locations and stuff concerning the night sky, but I do know that the easiest way to find the Sagittarius is by finding the Milky Way and finding the southern end of it. Then it is easier to spot the Sagittarius. And I'm not sure, but I think it is on the Northern globe," Haley said with a small smile, hoping she wasn't completely off the charts.

"Now Haley can you give me a couple different names for this constellation?"

Before she had heard the question to Haley she had heard Tabi's response, "Well unlike Leshia over there I don't care about my birth sign, I prefer the other ones out there, like Andromeda." Leshia could not help but roll her eyes.

Leshia could not belive that Tabi knew anything about the stars, she probably just took the class to annoy her, she had to have known she was in this class. "Oh please like you know about the stars" Leshia mumbled.

Leshia did found it interesting how the Professor was able to just light up that particular constellation in the sky above them. She never thought about it before until now. She had to think of the best way to describe where her stars were at.

"Now Haley can you give me a couple different names for this constellation?"

Leshia heard this question and she began to go through her internal card catalog to find the answer for herself then in a whisper she said. " The teapot"

"Now Haley can you give me a couple different names for this constellation?"

Haley grinned when she heard Leisha whisper silently to herself that one of the nicknames were the teapot. Haley knew this.

"Well, the Sagittarius is also known as the teapot, because the order of the stars can be very similar to the outlines of a common teapot. It is also known as the Archer, as it is the meaning of the word 'Sagittarius'," Haley said with a smile.

There were probably other names for the constellation, but she couldn't remember anymore of them. So she hoped the short reply would suffice. She looked up into the sky, seeing the sagittarius there. She smiled to herself. She loved the fact that she was born under the Sagittarius. To her, it gave her strength that the hunter was her birthright.

Sofia could not help but smile. Even though she had heard Leshia whisper an answer to Haley, she was pretty sure Haley already knew the answer.

"Very good Haley, 5 points to hufflepuff" Sofia stated then turned her attention to Leshia

"It would be a kind reminder not to whisper answers to your friends. 5 points from Ravenclaw. Anyway Leshia since you seem interested in talking why don't you explain to me about your constellation Scorpio."

Sofia heard a slight giggle that came from Tabi but she would deal with that when it came to Tabi's turn. Then it would give the girl the idea she had gotten away with the outburst.

Leshia was a little upset with herself for having lost her house 5 points becasue of something stupid, she wasn't excatly trying to give Haley the answers it was just something that she had thought of. Then she happened to hear Tabi giggle about her getting into trouble. Leshia swore she waited to beat that girl again. She was reallt getting on her nerves today.

Now the professor wanted to know about Scorpio.

"Scorpio or Scorpius is a large and sprawling constellation which lies near the Milky Way" Leshia calmly said. "It is also located close to the center of our galaxy."

"Very good Leshia, you have done a great job with the answer. You even knew what the other name for the constellation was called. 10 points to Ravenclaw." Sofia smiled

Sofia thought about how she was going to handle Tabi, she seemed a little like the subborn one. So she had to come up with one that will make her think.

"Ok Tabi, now it is your turn. What is the name of the Constellation that has caused controversy with the Zodiac believers?" Sofia thought that would make her do some thinking or even research.

Sofia heard a ring in the background stating that class is over.

"Well ladies it looks as if the class is over. You assignment for everyone is to answer Tabi question about this new constellation. I would like a 50 word description of it and it will be due before the next class, just drop it in my mailbox for your points." Sofia stated

"And Tabi seeing is you didn't get to answer the question I would like another 50 work summary from you on the Zodiac constellation of Libra" Sofia could not help but smile when Tabi groaned at getting extra work.
