Lesson Four Empty Lesson Four

Post by Raven 'The Sweeney' Drake Mon Jan 23, 2012 7:59 pm

Raven was sitting in the middle of the classroom on the floor, she was well and truly bored and not in the mood to teach students at all today, she had too many other important things to do and to be honest she was missing Briony, she didn't know when she was going to see her again...

If all the plans went through Raven would hopefully see her in a few day's time, if not, then she would just have to wait and see when she was able to...possibly a few weeks instead.

Lesson Four Empty Re: Lesson Four

Tarragon made sure not to make the same mistake again and got to class early this week. He took his seat at the back of the room like normal. Got his books out and flicked it open lazily, the end of term was getting to him, he was really tired, and most definately not awake enough to be able to deal with The Sweeney.

He looked at his teacher on the floor, a look of confusion on his face, but thought better than to ask questions. It was after all very rude.

Aquila had noticed from the other student's that being late to Raven's class was not a wise option, and she did not wish to be un-wise so she arrived in time for the lesson. She looked at the floor, where their instructor was seated and raised her eyebrows in confusion, before taking a seat at the back like last time.

Her eyes were fixed on her desk as she got her books ready and everything else that might be needed for the lesson, before resting her chin in her hand as she stared at the book in front of her. She wondered why Raven was on the floor, but wasn't bothered enough to ask.

Since his private lesson with Sweeney Terrence did not feel as nervous of her anymore, but he knew enough not to be late for her class. He still did value his body parts.

Walking into the room he saw her sitting on the floor which he thought was very odd, but instead he made it over to a table.

Once he got over to the table he noticed Tarragon there with the same look that Terry had only moments ago about the teacher sitting on the floor.

Terry just mouthed a hey to Tarragon, not wanted to disturb the teacher.

Raven made a small whining noise before sitting bolt upright and smiling, now that all the class was here she could begin what she was intending to do this lesson, it was something challenging for sure and she didn't know if they would be able to do it.

Oh well.

"Welcome. I trust you're all deeply sad about this being the last lesson of the year and you've escaped with all you're body parts intact, believe me, I'm sad about this fact too, but that might change next year." grinning darkly Raven made her way to the board.

'Swelling Solution.'

"Now, if you don't know what this potion does, why are you even in this school? I'd be surprised you could actually read the words on the board. An ingredient in this potion is?"

Aquila lazily raised her hand and waited to be called on, once being called on she answered in a bored tone, "Puffer-fish eyes, miss." Aquila then let her hand drop and held back a yawn of exhaustion.

She hadn't slept well the night before, and hoped not to have any more limbs tossed onto her desk.

Raven nodded, she gestured at the cupboard and didn't feel like speaking any more, her thoughts consumed her, so instead she picked up the chalk and wrote on the board:

'3 puffafish eyes'
'4 snake scales'
'2 teaspoons of flobberworm pus'
'5 chopped asphodel roots'
'1 base potion'

'1. Add the base potion to a cauldron on medium heat.
'2. Ensure that the snake scales are added one at a time until the potion turned purple'
'3. Add the flobberworm pus and stir the potion for two minutes clockwise, then one minute anti-clockwise'
'4. Chop the asphodel roots small, as small as possible, then add them to the potion, wait until it turns a light pink.'
'5. Add the puffafish eyes one at a time.'
'6. Wait until the potion turns white. Then take off the heat and place in your vials.'

'GET TO IT.'

Lesson Four Empty Re: Lesson Four

Aquila got to work straight away, feeling that Raven was in a bad mood. She collected the ingredients from the cupboard and carried them back to her desk, dumping them down and shaking her wrist which had suddenly begun to ache.

Aquila looked up at the board for her first instructions.

She put her cauldron on medium heat and added the base potion. Picking up a snake scale, she added it. Followed by another. Followed by another. After dropping the last one in, she watched with satisfaction as the potion turned the desired purple colour.

Aquila added the flobberworm pus with a nose wrinkled in disgust as she stirred the potion clockwise, eyes fixed on the clock. After two minutes, her arm was aching but she proceeded to stur anti-clockwise for a minute, muttering about stupid potions and their stirring the whole time. After the minute was up, she stopped stirring immediately and rubbed her wrist as it ached painfully.

Looking up to see what was next, Aquila then snatched the asphodel roots and took time to chop them up as small as possible- in fact it was more 'finely slicing' then 'chopping'. She collected the sliced asphodel roots in her hands and let them fall into the potion. It was a few seconds before the potion faded to a light pink from its purple colour.

Being careful not to stuff anything up, she very slowly added the puffafish eyes. After adding them, she waited until it finally turned white and smiled in satisfaction.

She was starting to like potions very much so, and the strangeness of her teacher wasn't really all that bad. She didn't mind her, to be honest. She took her potion off the heat and added it to her vials, looked up to Raven with a face void of emotion, though the smugness inside her was dancing for joy. "Im done." She said. If only she could succeed like this in all of her classes.

Tarragon quickly went and grabbed the ingredients before returning to his desk. He followed the instructions step by step, making sure not to miss any in the lesson. Purple, then pink, then white. He smiled happily as he completed the potion sucessfully for the first time in the year. He poured the potion into the vials he had taken and took them over for the Sweeney to examine. He was quietly pleased with his potion, and hope their Lehrer would be too.

Terry was not as nervous this time around because he had already done a potion when it was just him and the Lehrer so he was not worried. He took one look at the list on the board and made a trail for the students cupboards. Making sure to grab everything he was going to need he headed back to his table

Just like before he followed the direction to the letter and when it was finally done it looked at the potion and it had turned perfectly white, so it had to be correct so he bottled up the vial, labeled it and brought it up to Sweeney's desk. Laid it there and walked back to his desk waiting to be dismissed.

Raven watched the students brewing it seemed as if they were not so bothered by her any more, which in trn bothered her a little, and she made a mental note to correct this next year.

When they one by one had brought their vials up, she rummaged around in her housepoint box and brought out small knuckle and finger bones this time.

"Sorry children, I had no more blood vessels left...do you know they're a delicacy in some societies?" she grinned manically.

"To you Aquila, 15 points, you finished first.
To you Tarragon and to you Lee, 5 points for correct potions."

Placing the correct amount of housepoints on the desk Raven grinned once more and picked up the vials, they all seemed ot be in order, but she picked Lee's and splashed it onto a small cockroach scuttling on the floor, it swelled sufficiently.

"Hmm. You are dismissed. Have a fun holiday, maybe I'll see you around." she cackled and began to hum 'We've only just begun'.
